Siege At Freaktown Ch. 06

As the backup arrived a crane was used to lift up the truck and gather the suspects inside. One humanoid female officer arrived on the scene, amazed at what lieutenant Perez had accomplished in the past several hours. Seeing him making a mess was nothing new for her.

"You've gotten better," she said, "at least ten citizens are being treated for injuries."

"It could have been worse, Seta," said Carlos, "these assholes were here for a reason and I want to know why."

"We'll handle it. You've done enough already."

"Who's handling it, the captain? The dude is weak and doesn't belong in that office."

"What are you talking about? He earned his position."

"Somehow I don't think so. Why isn't he investigating the bombing?"

"We don't know if it was a bomb."

"Exactly, and what about the school shooting?"

"An unfortunate incident."

"That's bullshit. What the hell is he afraid of? How many more incidents is he going to keep ignoring? How many more people have to die before he gives a shit?"

One of the men from the truck heard the conversation in the backseat of the police cruiser, laughing it up like he was being entertained by a stand up act.Siege At Freaktown Ch. 06 фото

"People?" He said. "You're wrong on that."

"Something on your mind, asshole?" Carlos responded.

"Look at you, living with these... things. You're a disgrace to your own kind."

"My kind? My kind doesn't go around shooting up schools or bomb restaurants. Why are you assholes even here to begin with?"

"We're on a mission, a mission to take back what rightfully belongs to the human race. Freaktown, what a fucking joke. You think arresting me and my friends solves anything? There are more of us than you even realize, cop, and you can't do a fucking thing about it; not you or your fake ass captain."

"What does that mean?"

"You should ask him."

All he did was laugh some more without giving any real explanation. He had no intention in spilling his guts even further and Carlos wasn't going to waste time interrogating him. The young lieutenant had someone else in mind to interrogate personally.

"Take this garbage out of here," Carlos told the officer onboard the patrol vehicle.

"Perez, where are you going?" Officer Seta asked.

"Back to the precinct. I need to have a chat with our beloved captain."

"About what?"

Carlos took off in his corvette before answering any more questions.

At the precinct, the captain saw everything unfold on the news. What bothered him the most was Carlos being interviewed, telling the reporter on the scene how the FTPD were slow with their job and the captain's inability to do what's right. The captain was steamed over those comments along with Carlos' heartfelt apology to the citizens of Freaktown.

"I want his ass in my office," said the captain. "I want him in my office right fucking now!"

He stormed back into his office, slamming the door behind him. When Carlos finally arrived, he looked forward to another confrontation with the captain.

"Perez," said officer Tek, "the captain wants to see you and he's pissed."

"Good, because I'm pissed and I want to talk to him."

Before he headed for the office, Carlos saw something on the news they got his immediate attention.

"Somebody turn up the volume," he said. "Turn it up now!"

One officer grabbed the remote, raising the volume loud enough for everyone to hear. What they saw was a video, with five men standing tall while their leader, Lloyd Bennett, did most of the talking.

"Greetings," he said, "to all you creatures trying to live like citizens, we are the Soldiers of Human Liberty. Our mission is to make Freaktown into a human's only society the way it was meant to be. We're not putting up with any of you trying to steal what's rightfully ours. We made our messages clear; the school shooting and the mayor getting bombed is nothing compared to what will happen next. We're giving you just one warning and that is for you to evacuate the town by noon tomorrow. If you don't comply, there will be more deaths and more destruction like you've never seen before. Tomorrow at noon. Make the right decision and don't waste any time."

Many officers thought this was some sick joke cooked up by crazy fleshers, but Carlos didn't find it the least bit funny. He'd seen threats like this before during his time in the Marines.

"Is this for real?" Tek asked.

"Trust me," said Carlos, "it doesn't get more real than this."

"Perez!" Yelled the captain. "My office! Now!"

Unlike earlier on, Carlos gently closed the door and the blinds so no one sees what happens next.

"You're suspended," said the captain, "give me your badge and gun right now."

"No," said Carlos.

"What was that?"

"You heard me; I ain't giving you shit."

"How dare you? Then you're fired; your ass is fucking fired!"

"Fire yourself, you fake ass captain."

"What did you call me?"

"I spoke to one of the shooters from the truck and he said you were a fake ass captain. Now why would he say that?"

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"No investigations on the school shooting or the restaurant bombing. What's going on? Are you working with these terrorists?"

"Who said they were terrorists?"

"I just saw the video on the news. The Soldiers of Human Liberty; does that ring any bells? These were terrorist attacks and you're pretending like it's no big deal, so I say again, are you working with these terrorists?"

"Get out of my office."

"You look nervous. You got something to hide?"

"I said, get out of my office."

The humanoid officers overheard the argument but wondered why the blinds were closed this time.

"Who are you?" Carlos asked, attempting to get on his nerves even further. "Who are you working for?"

"You've lost your mind, Perez," said the captain, looking to leave his own office.

"Maybe, but I can tell you're not telling me the truth. Your body language gives it away."

The captain headed for the door until Carlos blocked his way.

"Get out of my way," he said.

"Why?" Carlos asked. "What's your hurry? You got a meeting with those liberty fucks?"

"I'm warning you, get out of my way."

"I'm getting to you, aren't I? Who you working for? Who are you? Who's pulling the strings?"

The captain rushed Carlos before he was stopped cold by a closed fist onto his nose. What came out of his nose was not normal according to humanoid anatomy. Their blood had a rich golden color, but for some reason this one did not.

"Motherfucker," said Carlos, reaching for his firearm.

The captain shoved him out of the way, rushing into the waiting crowd outside the office.

"Stop him!" Carlos yelled.

He fired one shot grazing the captain's leg, sending him right to the floor. The humanoid officers pulled out their firearms, pointing in Carlos' direction.

"Down on the ground!" Yelled one officer. "Down on the ground!"

"Check the blood," said Carlos.

He got down on his knees with hands on his head. Before the cuffs came his way, he was desperate to get their undivided attention to the real subject at hand.

"Check the blood," he said again. "Check the blood."

"What's wrong with you?" Said another officer.

"Check the blood. Check the fucking blood! Look at it!"

One female humanoid officer approached the wounded captain, groaning in pain. She checked the blood as requested and discovered it was the wrong color pouring out of the captain's wound.

"What the hell?" She said. "It's red. The blood is red!"

"That's impossible," said Tek, seeing the blood himself. "There's no way."

The other officers were shocked to see the color of the bloody puddle. Carlos was allowed to stand up without any cuffs placed on his wrists.

"Captain," he said, "or whoever you are, you're under arrest. Book 'em, Tek."
