Mark your calendars! The organizer of the Legends' Day Author Challenge series is back with another not-to-be-missed event.
Here's more from blackrandl1958 herself:
Welcome to Legends' Day. I started this on March 17, 2017. Harddaysknight and I were sitting around talking one day, about writers who seemed to have stopped writing, for one reason or another; they did not have to explain their reasons to me or anyone else. We admired those OGs who set it all up for us newbies. Well, HDK was an OG. I was a newbie. Dude been around since Charles I. The category we both mostly read was Loving Wives (LW).
Anyway, I said, "Bruh, do you think I could get permission from Laurel to ask those people we can reach if they would be willing to write one more story, and they would post them all for us on a given day?"
He thought it was a dope idea, although not knowing if it could be done. It had never been done before. Don't get it twisted; I invented these things. HDK promised to write a story for me, and he knew many of the writers. With that promise in hand, and an enthusiastic Laurel, I went to another of the OGs, Ohio, and he promised me a story. It snowballed from there until I recall there being 17 stories from people who were definitely "legends" in the LW category.
Many of them hadn't written for years, but they could write their asses off. If you love well-written LW stories, those were top shelf. The stories now have, collectively, over three million views. There were more than 100 comments on the promo in less than 24 hours.
Legends, one and all. Well, except for me. I was a newbie. Oshaw, and four of the other writers refused to write unless I, also, wrote a story. I agreed, and paid dearly for it. But I got stories from Oshaw, Cpete...
Many people left comments and sent me emails, asking for another, except with different writers. Still LW. I had originally called it "Legends of Loving Wives" Either through my stupidity or a miscommunication, either is possible, it wound up being "Legends' Day." Okay, they were.
The reaction to my early efforts by unknown (to me) but disgruntled people was discouraging, at first, but more than 20 anthologies, 200 stories, and 89 different writers later, it's been a fun ride.
It does become a burden: my energy gets drained, inviting all those people, editing all those stories, sending all those emails, DMs. I am not as interested as I once was, and you will be relieved to learn that this is my last.
They once seemed like special days. Just another day, now. At some point, I may do something. I'll be around. The rest of these writers will be around. Some of the OGs are still around. Respect, Randi.
You may expect to see such writers as Lostboy, Qhml1, Harddaysknight, Cagivagurl, Laptopwriter, MattblackUK, Hooked1957, Southerncrossfire, Stev2244, Woodmanone, Postscriptor, DTIverson, Amyyum, Justplainbob, Ohio, Papatoad and more.
This event is an Invitational, which means it is not open to submissions. Anyone can organize an Author Challenge and decide the parameters of the event. If you're interested in participating in an open author challenge - or want to find out more about them (including how to organize one) - please see this thread.
