Chapter 11
Lewis: I dropped Deanna off at Gregory's house early Saturday evening. She looked fantastic in an expensive gown bought just for the occasion of her first night as a paid whore wife. The dress was all black, tight as hell, short to the point of being indecent and really low-cut to show off her gorgeous rack. I spent three hours with her at the salon while she got everything waxed, polished, shampooed for the big evening. To say that Deanna looked like a million bucks is a gross understatement. Just getting out of the car and walking up to Gregory's front door I was astounded at the attention she drew from people just walking on the sidewalk. I rang the bell as Deanna fidgeted.
Gregory answered the door promptly.
"Oh my word!" he said with a huge shit-eating grin on his face. I'd never met Gregory but Rodney said he was his best cherry-buster for a first-time whore wife. I never expected him to be as old as he appeared to be, which was certainly on the shady side of the hill.
"Come in you two," Gregory said. I thought he might have a heart attack he was so excited by Deanna's appearance. She had to be less than half his age, but I assumed he was used to that. Deanna shot me a worried glance as I guided her into the foyer of Gregory's mansion.
"I'm just dropping her off," I said as I firmly pushed her forward as she looked at me in a panic. I raised my hand to her to cut off any protest. "I'll pick her up tomorrow at noon." Gregory nodded to me with a solemn look at took Deanna's hand to lead her into his house. As the door closed on them she was looking up at the vaulted ceiling and glancing back over her shoulder at me, looking helpless and gorgeous and sexy as fucking hell. I really got off on delivering her to our first paying customer.
"Client," Rodney said in my head. "We don't have customers, we have clients. Wal-Mart has customers."
Deanna: I was startled that Lewis didn't come with me into Gregory's house. I felt so nervous and alone, but Gregory seemed to be very pleased with my appearance. I wondered what he expected of me as we walked into his tastefully decorated living room.
"Deanna, it is so nice to meet you, I've heard so much about you and none of it did you any justice at all. You are a vision of loveliness." We sat on the sofa and a butler appeared from the door behind me. "What would you like to drink, my dear? Max can make you anything you like."
"Just tonic and lime," I said. I wanted to stay completely sober, just like Lewis and Rodney instructed me.
"Nonsense, bring her a gin and tonic, Max," Gregory said with a firm yet charming demeanor. "We will be leaving for dinner shortly so you don't have to worry about drinking on an empty stomach."
"Your house is lovely," I said as we waited for the butler to mix our drinks. "I've never seen such beautiful art outside of a museum."
"It pales beside your beauty, my dear," Gregory said with all the sincerity a girl could ask for. Even though he had to be at least fifty years old, I was beginning to look forward to being with him. He was not as dark-skinned as Rodney but blacker than Lewis. He was in excellent shape but he had a slight build. My initial fears of a difficult first night were quickly evaporating just as Max handed me a tall glass.
"To your new endeavor," Gregory said as he raised his glass. I raised mine and drank deeply of the strong drink. I guess my nerves were still a little jangled. Gregory sipped his drink and smiled at me again.
"Let's go to dinner."
The restaurant Gregory took me to was a revelation. The dining room was quite large, exquisitely appointed and full to capacity. I was the only white person in the room.
As we crossed the room to get to our table, which was situated right in the middle of the room, I saw all eyes on me. The men looked at me with naked lust, each one, in turn, giving me a full once-over in obvious bad taste, both for me and for their companions. And the looks I got from the companions, or wives or whoever the hell they were -- if looks could kill, I'd be as dead as the eight-point trophy mounted over the fireplace.
The maitre d' escorted us to our table and pulled out my chair for me with a formality you don't see much of these days. He took the napkin from the table and unfolded it with a flourish and laid it in my lap. I smiled at him weakly, embarrassed by all the attention, but he didn't even make eye contact with me. I looked at Gregory for reassurance.
"Quite the stir you're making in here," he said with a sly smile. "Don't let it bother you; I come here all the time. Everyone knows me and I know everyone, so just relax and enjoy yourself."
Just as I was beginning to relax a tall man in a gorgeous suit walked up to the table and stared at me unmercifully. Gregory stood up.
"Rashonne, good to see you again," Gregory said and shook his hand. Rashonne shook Gregory's hand while keeping his eyes on me. "How's your wife?" Gregory asked with a smirk.
"Aren't you going to introduce me?" Rashonne asked with a decided and premeditated obliviousness. After Gregory introduced us, Rashonne offered me his hand. It was huge.
"So pleased to meet you, Deanna," Rashonne said. After staring at me for far too long he turned to Gregory. "So this is Rodney's new talent?" he asked.
"Rodney is supervising her training, but she's working for a new kid that Rodney vouches for. Here's his card."
"Standard rates?"
"Of course."
They proceeded to discuss my physical attributes with directness and an undiluted vulgarity that stunned me. I looked at the tables around us to see if they could hear what was being said and was devastated to see that everyone was hanging on every word that Rashonne and Gregory said about me, including the women. No one even pretended to not be listening.
At last, the discussion ended. "I look forward to seeing you again," Rashonne said to me as he left us. The conversations at the other tables resumed.
"I'm going to wind up with every man in this room, aren't I?" I said to Gregory, more a statement than a question.
"Of course," Gregory said as he picked up his menu.
