T'Pol woke up sweaty and anxious, as she had done after several sleep cycles recently. Every time, her condition felt worse and she felt less and less invigorated.

"What is the matter with me?" she questioned herself with Vulcan logic, but there was no definite answer for this kind of condition.

"So, the most logical resolution is to see Dr. Phlox and get a full medical examination," she thought, while taking a cold shower to wash her flawless sixty-year-old Vulcan body clean of sweat.

After a while, she dried her shivering body thoroughly using a towel, then wore her grey-and-silver Vulcan subcommander uniform, which contoured every curve of her body, leaving nothing to guess.

A quick sip of tea, a couple of Earth fruits, and she was ready to go.

Fortunately, the Enterprise had been charting the red-gas-giant system for several days, and the estimate was that charting would continue for at least three Earth days, so there was no requirement for her to be in the command center. "I have plenty of time to resolve this," she thought, stepping into the turbolift, where a couple of male crew members, from the lower decks, eyed her nonchalantly.T

"Medical bay," T'Pol said, while the turbolift resumed moving, quickly reaching the medical bay deck. "Gentlemen, excuse me," T'Pol said, then headed towards the infirmary.

"Subcommander T'Pol!" Dr. Phlox greeted her, with a smile. "Haven't seen you here in quite a while. You Vulcans rarely get sick, and so on..." he stated, while eyeing her with true interest.

"Indeed, but today, I have to discuss... personal matters," T'Pol answered, matter-of-factly, being logical as only a Vulcan can be.

"But, of course, please take a seat and tell me what is bothering you." Phlox gestured towards the sick-bay bed.

T'Pol quickly sat on the edge of the bed, stretching her long legs. "I have difficulties rejuvenating during my sleep cycles; I see vivid dreams, but I do not remember them after I wake up. Sweating and anxiety also," T'Pol told Dr. Phlox.

"I see, and no theory of what might cause this?" Phlox asked.

"No, none. Otherwise, I would not be sitting here," T'Pol answered, wryly.

"Very well, I would like to do a full medical scan first, so if you kindly take off your shoes and uniform, then lie down on the bed," Dr. Phlox stated to her.

T'Pol undressed, leaving only her grey underwear on, then lay down on the bed.

"You are in top physical shape, as you should be at your age," Dr. Phlox said, while observing her sculpted body. "But let's see if the scanner reveals anything."

After a short while, the examination bed started to move inside the scanner, and T'Pol felt a little tingling on her skin while the scanner was doing what it was supposed to do.

"Interesting, interesting..." T'Pol heard Dr. Phlox speak to himself, while studying scan results. After a minute, the bed moved out of the scanner, and T'Pol rose from it.

"Find anything?" she asked the doctor, who was still studying scan results.

"Oh, nothing definitive, but I might have a theory. Please get dressed, and I will be with you shortly."

T'Pol quickly put her uniform and shoes on, then patiently waited. "About that theory, Dr. Phlox?" she inquired, after a short while.

"Ah yes, I am sorry. Yes, but I need to investigate this a bit more to be sure. Your quarters are on deck four, starboard section B?" Dr. Phlox asked, while turning his chair towards T'Pol.

"Your information is correct, but I fail to see any logic in your question related to my condition," T'Pol answered.

"Great!, yes, there seems not to be anything physically wrong with you, but as I said, I might have a theory about what is causing your anxiousness," Dr. Phlox said, with a smile.

"Unfortunately, I have to investigate a bit further to be sure. Meanwhile, you can resume your duties, and I will get back to you tomorrow at the latest," he said.

"Very well. I'll wait for for you to contact me," T'Pol said, leaving the medical bay, and walking towards the turbolift corridor, attempting to analyze what Dr. Phlox had told her.

The day cycle went somewhat uneventfully for T'Pol. She spent most of her time in the mess hall reading Vulcan literature, occasionally analyzing gas-giant scan readings, which did not reveal anything out of the ordinary.

After a day cycle, the night cycle started, and most of the human crew went to sleep.

T'Pol, as a Vulcan, did not require sleep as often as humans, so it really made no difference to her, except maybe, dimmed lights in corridors and fewer people being around.

Finally, the night cycle had ended.

Suddenly, Dr. Phlox contacted her via communicator. "Subcommander, I have news for you. Please see me in the medical bay when you have time," he said, ending the communication short.

T'Pol immediately finished her breakfast in the mess hall, where she had spent most of the night cycle, and headed towards the infirmary.

"Subcommander, sit down, sit down! This is most interesting, indeed!" Dr. Phlox said with enthusiasm, gesturing for T'Pol to sit in the chair next to him.

"The scan, indeed, did not reveal anything physically wrong in you, but it revealed that your physical form has changed since the initial scan almost a year ago," Dr. Phlox said, while studying the datapad.

"Have you noticed anything?" he asked T'Pol.

"No, I have not. I have no need to observe my physical form if there is nothing wrong with it... except, I have to shorten my hair way more often," T'Pol stated, after a short pause.

"I see, I see. Scanners cannot reveal that kind of change," Dr. Phlox said, tapping his notepad. "Anyway, the scan revealed that your hips and buttocks had grown at least twenty percent since last time, and also your breast size had increased equally, if not more. Humans would say that your breast size has gone up from D to a firm E-size on your chest," Dr. Phlox said, watching T'Pol's reactions keenly.

"Do you know what that means?" he continued.

T'Pol felt a cold jolt going through her spine. "No... yes... no! But it is simply not possible!" she suddenly shrieked, losing control over her emotions.

"Ah yes, but unfortunately, it seems to be possible. Your mating cycle has begun prematurely, Subcommander!" Dr. Phlox said.

To be continued...
