The Bridge - Chapter Eighteen - Glorious Vacation

This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events and incidents are either the products of the author's imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. This work is copy written by the author. All characters involved in sexual activity are eighteen years of age or older at the time of portrayal.

This work will, at times, contain instances of pregnancy, interracial sex, group sex, Dominance and submission, tattoos and piercings, slavery, lesbianism, romance and affection. There are also threats of violence and a fair amount of heroism and family love and fun.

Given the way this chapter goes, it's in the Non-Erotic category, but has spent time in the Interracial Love, Lesbian Sex, NonConsent/Reluctance and Romance categories and will probably move around as it progresses. Which it will do if enough people like it.The Bridge Ch 18 Glorious Vacation фото

There is a little more than sex by reference in this chapter, but it moves the story along. In time, there will be more sex and plenty of orgasms. Please don't ding me on this chapter because of the lack of sexual activity. I've just gotten good feedback on vacations and this is one. But it's a family vacation. For the most part.

Chapter 18 - Glorious Vacation

Breakfast, which was cooked up and served by Malcolm's two concubines, was actually quite good. It seems he likes his bacon too. Sunday or not. But it was mostly a quiet affair. Both of the Tuttlehills appeared to be fine, and they hugged and kissed their master like he was a beloved friend. Duane liked the Tuttlehills less and less all the time, but he did what he is so good at, he sucked it up, put a smile on his face and we moved forward.

On the ride to the Lodge, Gloria and I discussed the day, and I told her I would really prefer it if the kids went to the mountain without me. She immediately volunteered to watch them while I relaxed. Ronnie and Caroline would be with Holly, Lizzie and the kids, so I really wasn't worried. But in deference to Lizzie, I gave her a call on the way to give her as much warning as possible.

"Call Lizzie/"

"Hannah, what's up?"

"Liz, I've felt better, and I think I'd like to hang back at the Lodge today."

"Say no more. We've more than got it covered. Are the Tuttlehills ready to roll?"

"We are!" the couple said in unison.

"Great, the kids have spent a couple of hours in the water park and are dressed and ready for the slopes. Davante is coming too. We'll see you soon."

"We'll be there in about ten minutes."

"Gloria," I asked. "Are you going to be okay to go skiing?"

"Why? I've never been better."

"But last night we couldn't help but hear you wailing and crying out for a considerable period of time. You must be in terrible pain."

"Mmmmm, I wish you could appreciate it. And when I'm going down that mountain at the speed of me with my ski suit hugging me oh so tight there's just nothing like it."

"What's it feel like afterwards?"

"Kind of like a really bad period."

"And that's something you want?"

"You'd be surprised how much I've learned to appreciate my periods."

"Well fuck that. As soon as these two come out of me I am in for a tubal ligation and the factory will be closed. Five souls coming out of this body is more than enough. More than I ever bargained for. Not when I first started at the Bridge, not ever."

"Not me. I'm keeping the shop open. Master wants a child with me, he just hasn't decided when. I know he's concerned about my other two and how it will affect them. I still have a few good years left, and we don't want to do anything to fuck up Harriet's chances in Mexico in 2056. She's already training and being overseen by the U. S. Olympic Committee and is, even at seventeen one of the top ten competitors in the back stroke to go to Mexico. By the time she's eighteen we are hoping she is number one."

"Well, my friend, you can count on us being right there cheering her on."

"Oh Hannah, I love you. I knew you would be a great friend. Are we all doing dinner after the slopes?"

"You know, I'd just like to keep it casual. We can catch something here at the Lodge. You know, mushroom burgers or pizza or something like that."

"Sounds good. I'll give you a call on your supercell when we are on our way back, it's about fifteen minutes away."

"Bless you. I'm going to kiss the kids, go up and puke and then jump into bed and curl under the covers."

"Here's hoping Duane joins you. Under the covers that is. See you when we get back."

After giving the kids the appropriate hugs and kisses, I did just that. I went up to my room, puked my guts out, brushed my teeth and mouthwashed, then jumped into bed. Seeing my condition, Duane begged off and went to do some bar hopping. Good. I need the break.

The rest of the day was a blur. The kids had a great time at Camelback and Georgia is starting to pick up some moves from Celeste and Kimmie. Georgie is just getting better at falling. I think he likes that. He's also into snowballs and that's a habit I'll need to break. But all in all, everyone had a great time. Even Holly took her best shot at the slopes and did pretty good for a first timer. Not a surprise for the old Holly, but for the new Holly, that's pretty darned good.

Alvin Tuttlehill got a call while he was on the slopes and was called to a meeting in King of Prussia, which has become a burgeoning national business-hub. It could have been the most important meeting of his life. When he was called back and Gloria's presence was requested, she asked me if I could take the kids into Philly and they would pick them up when the meeting was over. I told her to go for it and let me know if I can help in any other way. We were just heading straight home and maybe we'll take a little walk before dinner. Bertha would be cooking, and she was making the kind of meal she could serve to twenty people. The ride home was quiet.

When we exploded into the townhouse on Panama Street, we were greeted by the kinds of smells we had grown used to at home. It was my kind of welcome home. It reminded me of how hungry I was. Here I come, fat woman in the making.

I made dinner easy; we fed the kids first and then stuck them in front of the TV in the family room to watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, with Harry tending the herd. We adults then sat down and had a nice, relaxed dinner. Nice adult conversation in peace and quiet without any 'assistance' from the children. Bertha's Chicken and Dumplings in Cream Sauce with a side of Mixed Squash in a Red Gravy. She put together a to-go package for the Tuttlehills. Before Bertha brought out her Carrot Cake and Pumpkin Pie, I went in to check on the kids, who were in the Family Room on the second floor. The only one awake was Harriet and she was laughing her ass off. Celeste's head was on her lap and Harry was stroking her hair. I blew her a kiss and returned downstairs.

We all sat around having a wonderful dessert and coffee and tea, when my supercell rang in. It was Gloria. They were in town and were close, but they asked if they could stop in for a few minutes before they leave with the girls. There was something she wanted to tell me. I thought about rousting Harry and waking Kimmie, but thought better of it. They will be stopping here for a while so let them hassle the kids.

When the Tuttlehills finally hit it was about ten-fifteen. They looked a bit taxed but were all smiles. And when Gloria gave me a great big hug, she whispered in my ear, "I have to talk to you right now."

I looked over at everyone as we started to head upstairs, "We'll be right down."

"Before we go, I need to speak with Holly."

"Sure."

"Holly, tonight we are heading back up to the Poconos to meet with some swim teams tomorrow and all Alvin and I could speak about on our way here was asking you if you and Cee Cee would come with us. She could meet some state ranked swimmers and it would be just another welcome for her into the swimming community. And when she is introduced as Harry's protégé, well the sky will open for her. Whadaya think?"

"Fine with me," Holly said, "Anything to promote her swimming I support. What do you think, Hannah?"

"I'm totally on board. Why don't you pack a little bag for the both of you and let's get her wrapped up to travel. I'm sure when she is advised of the trip she will get energized enough to get into the car before she falls back to sleep. I need a few minutes with Glorious, we'll be right down."

All the kids were on the second floor, so we went up to my suite on the fourth. Gloria had never been up there and loved it. She approached me, put her hands on my cheeks and kissed me square on the lips. No tongue, just a friendly kiss. She sat down on my lounge chair, what I call the billion-word chair, because I've read so many books there since we took possession of this place.

"Sit down, Hannah." And I sat down on the side of the bed. She had a very serious look on her face but still managed to smile. "I told you yesterday that something was coming down the pike for us but that it could not be made public. As of tomorrow, it will be known to all. Today we signed the papers selling off forty-nine percent of our company, so we still have controlling interest."

"And?"

"Nineteen point eight."

"Nineteen point eight million?"

"Billion. Nineteen point eight billion dollars."

"Oh Gloria, I am so happy for you. You know what that is, don't ya?"

"Damned right I do. It's 'fuck you' money.

I jumped on her and hugged her and told her that nobody deserved it more. "Please tell me Master Malcolm will not be taking this money away from you."

"Of course he won't, but he will never be in need."

"I guess I can live with that."

"Gonna have to sister. He is forever part of the equation. He already knows about the deal."

"I kind of figured that. Come on, let's go get the girls ready to go."

When we got down to the second floor Alvin and Holly were pulling the girls together. Celeste was more awake than the other girls, she was so excited. I expect that excitement will have a short shelf life. Fifteen minutes tops. As Holly put her coat on, I put Celeste's on over her Chester County Swimming sweatshirt. Avi went with them. Hannah's Rule No. One, Nobody goes anywhere without at least one of our bodyguards. For any other protective services, I have no problems with the people Gloria and Alvin are using. I believe the ones who went to Malcolm's with us were particularly dedicated. At least very trusted. I wonder if this has more to do with him than the Tuttlehills. Another thing for me to keep my eye on. I need more eyes. First of the year, I will be tapping the resources of Duane's new security company, and may end up my own best client.

Tomorrow is a free day for all of us, but tomorrow night is Sisters Night. This was Lizzie's plan. Holly had so much to do she did not interfere with Lizzie's plans. Our Annual Philly Bridge House Sisters Extravaganza would be Wednesday night at Cramps, which we bought out for the night. It was by invitation only, and we had over one hundred RSVPs. Cramps is a good-sized club, even considering the number of women interested in women, but we'd be elbow to elbow that night. Hopefully the weather will be good so we can hang outside too. I would not be giving a blanket invitation to everyone at the party to come to the house for New Years, but if I ran into an old friend, I'd certainly extend an invite.

The tough part is that Holly and I would be leaving the kids without one of us. A first. Bertha, Aggie and Mac had the con. And Lizzie and I had a goal. Get Holly shit faced. She'd had neither drugs nor alcohol since the incident, and we were taking baby steps. Maybe with so many of her sisters around her she'd let her hair down and have some fun. We were hopeful.

For the most part the kids stayed in their pajamas and played with their tablets and communicated with their friends. It gave Lizzie and I a chance to review the list of attendees tonight. Between the two of us we knew more of them than we thought we would. I guess I'd better let the caterer know there will be a few more than expected Thursday.

The kids were getting rammy around lunchtime so we decided to give Bertha a break and I took the kids out for a walk to see if the four of us could find a nice place for lunch. Of course, Duane was along for the ride. We headed down Walnut Street from Eighteenth and hooked a right toward Broad Street. This was Rittenhouse Row, one of the most distinguished streets in the city. It was Philly's little slice of Beverly Hills. Name brand clothing and shoe stores, Jewelry stores, women's cosmetics, terrific little boutique stores and some of the best eats around were the trademarks of Rittenhouse Row. It was also one of the most secure pieces of real estate in the city. You could not take a step without seeing either a pair of Philly's Finest, or bodyguards from one of the private agencies up the asses of their wealthy clients. We went south when we hit Broad Street and after a block and a half found this family style restaurant that was casual and right up our alley. And wouldn't you know it, Duane knew the restaurant manager from way back and our week of royal treatment continued.

I cannot begin to explain how it makes me feel the way the kids interact with Duane. They have, in one way or another, all their lives. In many senses, he has been more of a father to Georgia and George, Jr. than George Barry, Sr. ever was. I could feel us coming together as a family. And soon we would be six. But it was messy. Three Royces, two Barrys and a Todd just seems like too many loose ends. Not to mention a couple of Bernsteins. I think we've got to work on tidying that up a bit. I think when the twins get here, Linnie and I will have to bring this family into a singular unit.

I might be the boss of this operation, but nothing moves without Duane's say so. Nothing. He is the commanding force in our family. And I never stand in the way of that. Well, tonight he is going to have to be the commanding force with the kids. I'm going to party with my bitches. And we will rock Cramps till the windows shake.

The party was set for eight, and we were just waiting for Holly to arrive home from the mountains with Celeste and the Tuttlehills. Lizzie and I were already made up and dressed to the nines. Even she was wearing heels. When the group from the mountains arrived, Lizzie grabbed Holly and dragged her upstairs to get her ready for tonight.

Celeste was crying. Apparently, the entire ride home from Mt. Pocono she and Holly have been feuding. Celeste insists that the Tuttlehill girls stay over till the day of the parade and her mother says that she is not in the position to make that decision.

"Well, I sure am. Break out the sleeping bags. I'm just not sure where we are going to put Alvin and Gloria."

"Don't mind us, we'll beg off for the night. We can stay with friends in Queen Village. We can be here in ten minutes if you need us."

"Excellent. Come by for breakfast and stay for the day. We'll be serving invited guests soups, small plates, and hot drinks from about noon till dinner time then no one but my special Bridge girls will be coming and we'll be unfolding some tables and chairs."

"Wouldn't miss it. But before we take off can I take you aside for a private moment?"

"Sure. Come back upstairs."

When we got up to my suite, she took me by the hand and sat me next to her on the bed. She had a very serious look on her face and eyes that seemed to be pleading.

"Hanna, you know that I told my Master about our big score."

"Oh please, Gloria, don't tell me you gave it all to him."

"No silly. But let's say he'll have no financial worries. The reason I wanted to tell you this is because one, I wanted to, and; two, my Master commanded me to. While we were up in the Poconos, he summoned me while Alvin and the crew had the girls in the pool. I knelt before him, and he told me that I could not let this newfound wealth go to my head. That Alvin and I must be humbled. He decided that certain conditions must be met if we were to have sex."

I was not liking the way this was sounding. Somehow, I was feeling drawn into this spider's web of Malcolm's, and powerless to pull myself out. I had to let her know where I stand regarding her master.

"Gloria, please do not include me in your relationship with Malcolm. I want nothing to do with him and your business with him."

"Oh Hannah, it's too late for that. Hannah, you can make this the most joyous year of my life or the most miserable. And the next six months will be the worst of all. No sex."

"What? That's the goofiest thing I've ever heard. What do you mean no sex?"

"My master has commanded that I cannot have sex with anyone, not even myself, until you and I have had sex."

"Who the fuck does he think..."

"Please, Hannah, don't even think that. But I'm begging you to think about it. I know since the first time I laid eyes on you I have wanted to get with you. The heat I feel for you has been constant since that time. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to expend that heat elsewhere tonight. My master has given me free sexual rein until the clock strikes twelve on New Year's Eve to spread my wings and fuck like crazy. I wish I could fuck you right now. But God willing, it will happen sooner rather than later. Because, Hannah, in 2055 there will be no fucking for me, until you."

"You give me much to think about my Glorious one, but you go and fuck your brains out in Queen Village, and we'll revisit this after the first of the year."

"Fair enough. See you tomorrow."

After a quick kiss, she ran downstairs and I sat back. I have to collect myself. Tonight is one of my biggest social nights of the year and I am going to go out there and slap a lot of skin and kiss a lot of cheeks. I took my time going back downstairs and Holly and Lizzie were right behind me. Holly looked very pretty, if not sexy. I think she was going for the matronly look. It saddened me to see her fall into that mode. She's much too young for that, and I'm much too young for that kind of partner. Let's see what a little liquid lubrication can do about that tonight.

Tonight, will be a night without parents at the Todd-Bernstein townhouse. Bertha, Aggie and Mac would keep a good eye out with Duane overseeing with his commanding presence. Controlling the kids was easy. The secret was to ask Harry if she wanted to do something, she'd say yes and the kids would follow, like little chickees behind the mother hen. And tonight, Harriet Tuttlehill vowed to watch White Christmas all the way through. I believe she did. Her attraction to the film kept the little ones riveted.

When Holly, Lizzie and I were dropped off at Cramps the women were pouring out of the place. In various degrees of dress and sobriety. As we cut through the crowd to the sign in table, we were looking for our girls. Nothing yet, but we grabbed the badges that had our names on them and the years we attended Bridge House. It was long before someone called out, "Holly, Holly, over here." They always see the tall ones first. It was Missy. She was sitting with Clarissa and Samantha at a table toward the back. As soon as we got there Elena was emerging from the ladies' only room and approaching the table. We all fell into a group hug and then hugged and kissed each other individually and we finally sat down with them. "With all these women, how did you manage to reserve these seats for us?"

"That's easy," Missy said, "We just told them if they took these seats Lizzie Britain will come and shoot you in the kneecaps. You notice we have empty seats."

"Yeah," Lizzie said. "My reputation precedes me."

Sam was the first to speak up. "What do you gals want, I'm buying."

"Sorry, Sam." I said, "but it's already been paid for."

"Okay then, you buy, and I'll fly. Whatcha drinking?

"Make mine a scotch on the rocks," said Lizzie.

"Make mine a frozen margarita," Holly said, much to Lizzie's and my surprise.

"I'll just have some sparkling water, Perrier if you've got it."

"Bitch, you're pregnant, ain't ya?" Elena asked, more rhetorically than anything else.

"Guilty. Due in July." Again, I was mobbed. Nothing this crowd likes more than a pregnant lady.

"So, tell me, Han," Angela asked, "why did you need to get pregnant. You're sitting on top of a fortune, you are one of the most respected philanthropists and businesswomen in the Delaware Valley, and already a mother of two."

"Excuse me, that's mother of three. Never think that Celeste is not one of my children. Right Holly?"

"That's right. We are all one family. We all move in our own directions, but we move together when it's time."

"Well said, my darling. Life has dealt us many good hands, but every now and then a joker comes in to louse up the game. But, so far, we've been able to beat the joker. So far."

"Hannah," Lizzie said, "don't forget to tell the girls the best part."

"Oh yeah, the best part. We're having twins." Again, the table exploded as if I were giving birth right then and there. In the back of my mind, I cursed whoever it was who discovered that women shouldn't drink during pregnancy. I think it's the perfect time to drink.

I finally found out how we got the table in a sea of standing women. They had put up a poster for the Jane Amherst Annual Golf Invitational with contact information and a side note to see the women at the table we are sitting at if they have any questions. A surprising amount did. In fact, the line formed to the right. But I was more than happy to draw more of our girls into the tournament. Most of the girls at this little soiree tonight are done with baby making and have gone on to carve out some pretty nifty careers. True, some are still doing some kind of legal sex work, but most of them have put that past them and have built impressive resumes. Some, like Elena, have even started their own families.

The biggest beneficiary of tonight's festivities was supposed to be Bridge House, and the golf tournament would benefit as well. At least a dozen gals told me they would be signing up to participate in this coming tournament. I was thrilled. Thrilled with the whole night to be honest. To see old friends. To laugh some and cry some and show a lot of pictures. All of the women here have borne babies, but very few were raising children of their own. Less than twenty percent.

"So, Hannah, it takes two to tango. Who is this stud that is so talented that he gives you two babies instead of just one?"

"Duane Royce. We've really known each other on and off over the last five or so years, but this last year we just kinda got into each other. You know..."

"Oh, we know." Sam said. And everyone within earshot cracked up. It was said playfully and taken that way by all. "Lizzie, you work with Hannah, what's this guy like?"

"Trust me, sister, you're asking the wrong girl. I'm just a little too gay to answer that question with any credibility. Ask Hannah. Hers is the only opinion that counts."

"Holly's opinion counts as much. She is my wife."

"No, Hannah, Lizzie is right. I AM your wife but can no longer be your lover. Duane is your lover and will always be the father of your children. It's time you be straight with me and the world and let us all know how you feel."

"Holly, I love you and you have been a wonderful wife. So good, in fact, that you would set me free when you need me the most. In my life I find it impossible to contain my love to just one person. I thought I could, but Duane is a hetero dream. I don't know how any normal woman could resist him. And when you get with him you could never imagine anyone would want to leave him. He's dreamy in every way."

"And the sex?" Missy asked.

"Over the top. I've lost my voice for a time on more than one occasion. And I've declared a minimum size for cocks to enter me in any way. In fact, I've gone black only and for the time being Duane only."

"The time being?" Missy asked.

"A girl's got to keep her options open." Everyone cracked up. The laughing didn't stop for a minute or two as the comment spread through the crowd.

I had a ball until I just couldn't anymore. Holly and I left together at around eleven-thirty. We left Lizzie there, as she was on a mission. She was looking to put a group of out of towners together to drag up to her place and fuck all night. When we left, she already had two and was homing in on one more. For her that would be a piece of cake. For Holly and I, I think we'd had enough. I was proud of how she stood up in a crowd and happy with her progress. We'd both need a good night's sleep to meet the next onslaught of people coming our way.

I got up really early and there were no additional staff down in the kitchen to handle guests. Bertha told me first thing that Lizzie had put a stop to any guests passing through. The only ones coming tonight for dinner and to ring in the new year are the Lawrence's, the Tuttlehills, and the Chu's and their little girl Lily, a classmate of Georgia's. Dr. Chu and his family lived out in our area, but he practiced at HUP. He was a world-renowned Cardio-thoracic surgeon who'd invented and patented an entirely new surgical technique that changed the world of heart surgery. Dr. Patricia Chu is a less well-known cardiologist who has cut her work down to a part time practice at the Hospital in Paoli. It was virtually going to be a free day till dinner time. And I knew just what I wanted to do.

When the kids gathered in the kitchen for breakfast, I ordered Bertha not to let them leave until I speak to them. Given how many gifts went through our hands, amazingly enough we had a shit pile left. So, when the kids got to the table, I started off easy. "Does anyone have any specific plans for today?" Harriet raised her hand and I pointed at her.

"Can we get in some swimming today?"

"I actually had a more specific thing I wanted us all to do today. I am having a truckload of wrapped gifts delivered to CHOP and I want you all there to give them away. You know, give it the loving touch. It's the kind of thing our family does or should do."

"I'm in," said Harriet. "As an Olympic hopeful I have to expect to do a lot of public service work, and I am more than ready. I say let's go for it."

And who seconded it? Of course it was Celeste. And where those two go, I guess the rest of us follow. I'd already paved the way with a charge nurse in one of the wards and they were ready for us when we came. The nurses were great. Of course they were, they're pediatric nurses. They don't come any other way. They have to work every day where children are suffering. It can't be easy. But I felt the need to expose my children to children who have to live a very different life from us. To those who have much, much should be expected.

I watched closely as our children interacted with the patients. At first, they were slow to proceed, but loosened up in a surprisingly short amount of time. Then, following Harry, they just jumped into the role of a belated Santa. Both the patients and their parents were super appreciative. My eyes were wet the whole time. And I'm a nurse, dammit. I made an immediate note to self after seeing the joy our kids felt in lifting these kids' spirits to make this a regular part of our routine. I practically had to pull the kids away when it was time to leave, but we promised to be back. I gave the charge nurse my card before we left and told her to call me if there is an occasion I can make happen for them that they feel is important. I told them, in no uncertain terms, that if I did not hear from them, I would be very disappointed and contact them myself.

We got home in plenty of time to get ready for company. I insisted that it be an informal affair and that if anyone wore anything fancier than jeans, I'd kick them out. Gloria and Alvin were already at our place when we got home. They couldn't wait to see their girls. My friend was wearing a full body suit, as usual, covering every inch of her body, but with a long ankle length vest over it. She appeared to be in good spirits and in fine fettle. And Alvin was just going to have to get used to being the richest man at the table. That's going to change in the future, but not for the reasons you might think.

Everybody grabbed their own children and got them cleaned up and ready for dinner. The Chus arrived while I was getting Georgie and the Peach ready, and as we hit the first floor the Lawrences were blown in by the wind. Baby and all. Once they were in that was it, no one else allowed. The fireplace was lit up and the whole place smelled like Bertha's cooking. We called the kids down from the family room and after a short period of oohing and ahhing over little Miss Monique, dinner was served.

We had wonderful adult conversation, about how the holidays were going and the different things we did during that time. Little Lily Chu couldn't believe how much we have fit into our days. So, we invited her to stay over for New Year's Eve and to spend the day with us and attend the parade. The Chus had planned to stay overnight for New Years anyway, to see the fireworks and the parade and were booked into the Bellevue. So, when one of our later waves goes to see the parade, we can hand her off to her parents. And there's always an extra sleeping bag. Especially for another kid.

The banter with and between the children went on throughout dinner but never disturbed anyone's meal or got in the way of us enjoying another of Bertha's 'supervised' dinners. She immediately came out as they were serving to let everyone know these were her recipes and she is supervising, but she is not doing all the cooking tonight, so credit to the chefs. And much credit was given. They did a great job. When asked what they wanted to do, all the kids wanted to go up to the family room, get the fire rekindled and put on a movie. The movie they wanted to watch was National Lampoon Christmas Vacation, again. If that's what they want, then that's what they get. And tonight, Domingo gets to stay up there with them, and we get to relax and chat like adults. And maybe have an adult beverage or two. Well, everyone else except me, Linnie and Bertha. The three pregos.

We talked a lot about how the fertility rate has improved and that native births in this country are up. Mrs. Chu told us that she could see a lot more resources shifting from more mature patients to younger ones. Even my father, who said he'd never take that position, says that we need more people. Growing up he always thought this country was overpopulated. But it seemed that we needed the growth. So, like Dr. Chu and Dr. Rubin have said, we are in a baby boom. And in our little circle we are a part of it.

Patty Chu spoke up against it though. "Store's closed at the Chu household. We have our one precious gem and that's going to do it for us."

"I'm keeping my options open," Gloria said, "I'd love another girl."

I wasn't surprised by this. But I acted that way. It was only fair to her.

Lizzie just said, "Don't look at me. I don't fuck men. And I'm done having babies."

Our living room is one big room that we generally split into a sitting area and an eating area. We adjourned to the sitting room, got comfy and continued to chat. Bertha, Mac and Aggie joined us too. And whenever Bertha joins a discussion of any length the topic of food invariably comes up. That's when Bertha teaches and preaches. And everyone listens. By the end of the discussion all the women who did not live with us were begging for her to get in touch with housekeepers or cooks with her tips and connections. But most especially her recipes.

"Sorry, but I can't give ya no recipes. Me and my kiddies are writing a cookbook and if you want them, you'll just have to wait for the book."

"Well Bertha," Gloria said, "Please put me down as your first preorder. I want to make sure I get my copy as soon as possible."

"Gloria," I said. "You are so sweet to say that. Although Bertha's cooking deserves those kinds of accolades, let's see what the kids come up with."

"Hell," Gloria said, "If they don't do any more than draw the pictures the strength of Bertha's recipes will sell the thing."

"Well let's not make our Bertha too famous just yet. I don't want to lose her to fame."

"Ya ain't losin' me to no fame no time soon."

"That's right, my Bertha, we have babies to raise."

"That's right."

Dr. Chu, the surgeon, was sitting next to Mac and asked him about his business.

"Mac, tell me about your furniture. I'm spending more time now at home and on the computer and I'm finding I need a whole different kind of environment to perform more effectively. I'd love to see your work and to see if we can work together. How backed up are you?"

"Pretty backed up to be honest. I've really stopped promising jobs on deadline. If you're willing to wait I'll build you anything you want. Stop up at Bertha's or at my shop outside Downingtown. The shop is not open to the public yet, but I am spending more and more time there these days. I want to get a lot of orders filled before the baby comes. Give myself some space and time to be with my family. I've talked to my accountant and if I can fill the orders I have, in the next year it should put almost a quarter million in my pocket. Not a bad way to start a family."

"You have a year backlog?"

"Almost. But I'd love to show you some of my stuff and build something for you."

"Yes," I said. "We have two of Mac's pieces and they are other worldly. You should stop at our place sometime and see them. And Bertha is right next door. If Mac is home, he can show you the pieces he made for her, including the cradle. Or she can take you over herself and show you if he's not about."

"I'd like that," Mrs. Chu said.

"You are always welcome in our home."

"Thank you, Hannah. It's nice getting to know you and your family. Such lovely folks and you've brought so much to the neighborhood. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you better. Lily's friendship with Georgia has done so much to bring her out of her shell. Now that I've cut my hours, I'm looking forward to more play dates and just being plain old mom."

"Good for you, Patty. Even doctors need a break."

"Doctors especially need a break," the surgeon rang out. "Sixteen-hour surgical shifts and eighty-hour weeks really start to get taxing at my age. Since the procedure hit, the royalties I've collected plus the initial sale of the technology means I will never have to worry about paying my bills, unless I'm a dumb ass, which I have no intent on being."

"Good for you, Doc." Mac said. "When you work with your hands, whether it be jigsaws or scalpels, it takes a toll on your instrument. Craftsmen, like doctors - the ultimate craftspeople, wear out their tools and in time must set them aside."

"You are so very right, Mac. HUP is a teaching hospital and every minute I spend on rounds or in the OR, I'm teaching my replacements. It won't be long now before they are doing the heavy lifting, and I am sitting back evaluating them and doing everything in my power to make them better."

"You sound like a great doc. The kind I'd like to have attending to me." I said.

"Well, dear, let's hope it's not me tending to you, because I only get the hardest of cases."

"That's right." Patty said. "If my husband is your doctor, you are virtually on your deathbed, and I am proud to say that many more of his patients walk out of the hospital than are expected. Surgical students come from all over the world to be taught by him. In all, I'd say he's being very modest."

"I'll say. In fact, it's an honor having someone so accomplished in my home."

"Well," the doctor said. "Let's just all skip the formalities and be friends. It's the one thing Patty and I are finding ourselves in need of."

"Well, Chus, welcome to the circle. You're already in our Saturday play group. Just let us know when Lily is available, and I am sure she and Peach will have a ball together."

"Peach?"

"Georgia. Her name is Georgia Peach Barry, so we just call her Peach around here. It was Celeste's idea and we all just went along with it. And as far as friends are concerned, I have found that I cannot have enough. I know we will grow close. And I hope there is a way in the near future I can prove that."

"Friends don't need to prove their friendship. They just have to love and respect each other. I can see us doing that, for sure."

"Then it is done. Hey, you down there at the end of the table. Are you two doing business on New Years?"

Larry and Alvin were in what appeared to be a deep discussion. I could even tell the moment Alvin hit him with the number and his jaw dropped. I could even read Larry's lips as he said Nineteen Point Eight Billion. I never saw a man pull his business card out faster. That was when the ladies adjourned to both check on the kids and to then camp out in the kitchen. The men hung out in the living room going in and out smoking cigars and drinking scotch or beer or whatever was on hand.

Larry and Linnie were the first to leave. Monique was getting fussy and the forecast looked like fussier was coming. They packed up, wished us a happy new year and off they went. But first Larry gave Alvin a big handshake and told him he'd talk to him in the coming week.

The Chus were next to leave, but they left Lily behind to be with us. None of them had ever been to the parade and at our urging they stayed at the Bellevue for the night to see the new year in and see the fireworks. They would either pick her up at our place or we would meet them on Broad Street, and we can make the swap there. Either way, both Peach and Lily will be very happy when they wake up tomorrow with Kimmie and Harry.

As soon as the Chus left Gloria pulled me aside to ask me a favor. "Hannah, do you mind if I slide out of here with Alvin as soon as possible?"

"Oh, hot date?"

"Sort of. I have till midnight to get fucked. After that I'm off limits. And I'd like to get to my friends in Queen's Village before I turn into a pumpkin. There is where I can find the necessary ingredients to get the most out of the next few hours. After that it's the iron panties for me."

"Iron panties?"

"Yes. I will wear the device for the next thirty days. My instructions are to wash thoroughly every day, put on a diaper that will contain any urine or feces my body produces, and cover it with what they call the Iron Panties. The panties are two pieces of metal that screw together and are held on by a lock. They allow no contact with my genital region."

"It sounds damned unhygienic to me."

"Well, when you're new to it, it can be. But I trained with the Iron Panties and I know what to expect. Master gives me one hour each day to do my hygiene routine, which includes removing the Iron Panties, voiding front and back, showering and shaving and changing the diaper. I also usually change the batteries in my VCH, so that I keep on humming down there, Then I put it all back on and get into my latex and dress for the day."

"And you do this every day?"

"I will now. It's my master's bidding."

And that starts tonight?"

"At midnight after all the celebrating is done, we will have a ceremony during which I will be locked into my panties and Alvin will be given the key so that together we can perform my daily ablutions. And my poor Alvin. His poor little dick gets so hard when I get naked and, in that cage, it looks so pitiful. But he soldiers on. Best damned submissive in Philly."

"And I guess that means he gets no sex either?"

"Not necessarily. He and I are guided along our own separate paths as well as the path we share. Again, the master's wisdom that makes us more than we would otherwise be. I never know what Master has in store for either of us, but I know it will be challenging."

"When was the last time Alvin had sex?"

"I'd say it's been about four months. Ask him. He can tell you to the day. He comes out of his cage once a week for hygienic purposes, regardless, but occasionally Master will reward him by allowing me to give him a hand job, and if he is especially good, a blow job."

"And he's good with this?"

"Ask him. He's a big boy. So far."

"What does that mean?"

"All things in time, my dear."

Gloria gave me much to consider. I always had fun being the Riddler, but she was beyond cryptic. I don't think I understand what she is saying about Alvin, but I am very concerned for him. But he is a big boy. and he gets to make his own decisions. He's a fuckin billionaire now so he can make any decision he wants.

"Go. You two see your friends and get your licks in. See you in the morning. And Happy New Year."

We hugged and she grabbed Alvin who was already in his overcoat and holding hers out for her. They were off in a flash, and it was just Holly, Lizzy, Bertha, Mac, Aggie and Duane. Caroline was just making the rounds around the house and inside and out to make sure all was secure. When she went upstairs, I joined her. The kids were beyond adorable. She confided in me that she and Ronnie had had the 'what if' conversation about kids and as far as she was concerned it was still up in the air.

"Not you too, Caroline?"

"I don't know, it must be something in the air, or the water. And working around all the children, and babies are coming I just feel so... so... pediatric."

"You're funny. Maternal, not pediatric. As much as it has been distilled out of American women, maternal feelings and instincts still grow strong. Stronger every day. Trust me, nobody understands these things more than me. I may be young, but the kid business I'm an old hand at. But you gotta be ready. If not, it can crush you. But don't count it out. If you're gonna do it though, find yourself the very best partner. Hopefully someone who will be supportive throughout the life of the child."

"Hannah, please don't mention this to anyone, especially Ronnie. This will probably never happen so let's not stir the still waters. The swimming there has been mighty fine lately, and I just don't want to screw that up."

"Understood. My lips are sealed. It seems like I do that a lot lately."

"Tell me about it."

"Yeah, I guess when you do it for a living it's got to weigh heavy sometimes."

"Believe it. Nice of you to notice. Not many bosses do."

"Well let me know if I can ever take some of that weight off. You are not just staff. You are family and should think of yourself that way. Look at my children. What do they call you? What does Peach call you?"

"Aunt Caroline, I'm proud to say."

"When my kids know your name, you become close staff. When they start calling you aunt or uncle you are family."

"I'm honored. I've never loved a job so much. And as an aunt I guess I'm sticking around for the long term."

"That's what I'd call a win, win."

"I'm oh so glad you feel that way. Can I give you a hug?"

"Have at it."

She threw her very tall self at me and wrapped herself around me, it was like being assaulted by Holly, but with bigger muscles. She also smelled delicious. I couldn't pin down the scent, but I know it's not the first time I've come across it.

"The kids look great, let's head down."

"Yes, ma'am."

"Hannah. Just Hannah."

"Okay, Hannah."

"Caroline, are you a golfer?"

"I've played the game a bit, but I don't know if I could legitimately call myself a golfer."

"You should join us at the invitational this year. We always need someone to fill in a fourth."

"I have actually filled in as part of work. There was a woman I watched for about a year and a half who brought me in on a few foursomes. I was never the best but never the worst, but I must admit I enjoyed myself." Then she gave me a questioning look.

"Are you golfing?"

"Yeah, no. I did last year and found myself way over my head. Maybe Holly will, but I'm riding the desk this year. Maybe you can take my place with Holly if you can't find another foursome."

"I'll let you know. It will give me an excuse to get out to the driving range and sharpen my skills. Now you've got me interested. Very interested."

As we were coming down the stairs the caterer was coming in to set up their hot plates and such. Most of what they brought with them was precooked and put into chafing dishes. Definitely not Bertha quality fare. They did also have a cook to order station, and Bertha's kitchen had lots to offer. She'd cooked up two huge vats of soup; Bean Soup and Beef and Root Vegetables. There were only two people from the caterer, which should be more than enough. Tonight, the only people coming through are my Bridge girls and some of my neighbors up in Chester County.

My girls were all holed up at the Bellevue on Broad Street. It's like five blocks away, so it's easy enough to walk, and the weather has been amenable if not a tad chilly. So around nine-ish they started trickling in. Missy, Samantha and Angela and her boyfriend came together, followed by Clarissa and Elena and her family. We saw all these girls last night but tonight was a time for us to be together on a more intimate basis. They loved the house on Panama Street, and couldn't believe when they walked in the door that we had a fire burning in the fireplace. It was a nice little crowd and between the appetizers, the soups, and the small plate offerings in the chafing dishes there would be more than enough and most of it would wind up being preserved for those who came through on Friday while the parade was going on.

Then we would go into major soup mode. Bertha was cooking up three soups for New Years Day: a repeat of the Bean Soup, Italian Wedding Soup and a Butternut Squash Bisque. The first two were finished and sitting in five-gallon containers; the third batch was in process and Bertha was using her immersion blender to get the butternut squash to just the right degree of creaminess. What was left over from tonight and the soups would have to do for New Years Day. It's the soup they really needed. And the hot chocolate, two sixty cup urns worth; one regular and one with peppermint. We find our average parade goer stays on Broad Street between one and two hours and comes back to see us for around half an hour. Fortunately, my people are quite civil and as it got crowded, people would move on.

New Years Day was a blast. Georgie was the first up and he was in my face by six thirty. I pulled him under the covers and told him to rest for half an hour, but he just fidgeted. We went downstairs and Bertha was getting ready to feed the kids breakfast. She was flipping pancakes and makin' bacon. Harriet and Celeste had fruit salad and oatmeal. They said it is part of their swimmer's diet. Imagine an eight-year-old on a swimmer's diet. But it's healthy and I can't imagine Harry leading her protégé astray.

My Bridge girls were all invited to brunch all day and they showed up intermittently after about ten. Bertha and the caterers whipped up a couple of breakfast quiches and a small vat of oatmeal, and one of the sixty cup urns was churning out hot cocoa for all. Finally, something fun I can drink.

The living room now had a dozen small table and chair set ups where people would have their morning meal and head on out to the parade. As adults moved through the house, our kids were moved upstairs to the family room for breakfast, where they wolfed down their food and hurried to get dressed.

When Harry came up to me to say that the kids were all ready to hit the street, I pulled her aside and told her that if we leave too early, we'll miss the best parts. "Harry, keep an eye on the TV where we have the parade going. The comics are still on, and I don't want to leave until the Fancies are at least halfway done. Trust me, the String Bands are the best part."

She bought it and kept the kids at bay until about twelve-thirty and the fancies were more than halfway through. Then I called it and they all scurried. Holly stayed behind and she and Bertha ran the show at home. Aggie, Duane, Ronnie and Caroline came with me to Broad Street. Mac also came, as he had never seen a Mummers Parade live. Domingo had the duty at the house, but was later joined by Herman and Avi. On the way I called my girls who were mostly already on the street waiting for us. They were out in front of the Union League where the Mummers stopped one more time before their last performance at City Hall. And they gave it all they had.

The Chus called shortly thereafter to thank me for allowing them to have a great night together without having to worry about Lily. I let them know that Lily was in good hands and enjoying her time with Georgia and Kimmie. I told them to take their time and if we did not see them on the street they could pick Lily up anytime today at the house. Even after dinner if they choose. She told me she would appreciate it if they could meet us back at my place.

Gloria called to let me know they were having trouble getting out of Queens Village due to all the parade goings on in that area of the city. Again, I told her we would be staying over tonight and going home tomorrow, and we could hold onto the girls till then if they needed. She said that, unfortunately, they wouldn't need and that they would see us back at the townhouse this afternoon. I'm sure she will tell me all about it. This new year was going to prove interesting. Maybe the most interesting of all.

As people moved in and out of spots, we got closer and closer to the street until we were right up front and watching the Mummers close up. The Mummers, still being in their rebuilding years, had only seven string bands when they were once fourteen bands strong back in their heyday. When the fourth band approached us something very strange and wonderful happened. A woman, one of the attendants of the string band who was dressed in her club's garb, walked up to us and bent down and said hello to Georgie.

"Excuse me," I said. "Do we know you."

"Look close Ms. Todd, it's me, Leslie McKelly."

"Les. I didn't know you were a Mummer."

"All my life. I'm glad you folks are in town enjoying the parade. If it's okay with you, when we get back to work, I'd like to make an appointment with you."

"Do it. Call my office and tell them I said it's a priority and if they have any trouble to check with me,"

"Oh, Ms. Todd, you don't have to..."

"Oh yes I do and don't try to tell me otherwise."

"Okay, ma'am. Thank you, ma'am. Gotta get back to the parade. Thanks again." And off she went as her brigade strode down Broad Street. Note to self, Les McKelly is a member of the Quaker City String Band.

Between bands, Georgie was teaching everyone the Mummer's strut. By the time the next band started everybody was on board and when they finished their routine, all the kids, including Harriet, were strutting their stuff. When my girls joined us that is what they were doing. The girls just loved it. Then Georgie climbed up on Duane's shoulders and the beginning of the end of our Broad Street time was near. And when little Lily Chu asked Duane if she could have a turn, Caroline swept her up and put her on her broad shoulders.

It was time and I led everyone to Spruce Street and down Spruce to Nineteenth and to Panama Street. Poor little Lily wound up falling asleep on Caroline's shoulders and she ended up taking her down and carrying her the rest of the way huddled in her arms. I may have to say something to her about how maternal she looked, but I probably won't.

Quite the opposite, George got down off of Duane's shoulders when we hit our street and ran the rest of the way to the townhouse. Duane chased him the whole way. To say that it was funny to watch is a total understatement. Watching a grown assed man chasing an almost five-year-old down the street trying to look like he's trying to catch him but not catching him. Speaking of a catch, ain't he one, though. My two men. I love them so.

When we walked into the townhouse, a few people were hanging around, but most of my girls were still out on Broad Street. The Tuttlehills had arrived and were in the family room watching the parade, which was on every TV in the house. When their girls heard that they were upstairs in a flash.

An old friend from the Bridge, Katy O'Rourke, who was not really one of 'the girls' and her family was there. She and I were there when I had Georgie and the little girl she had was off with her forever family. After the Bridge experience she was preparing to do it again when she met Sean, her husband now. He was a contractor with one of the bigger AI outfits and moved around a lot. They met. by chance, up in Easton, her hometown. Sean was put in charge of bringing together a new hub, based in the Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton area, and Katy was brought in as a technical assistant on the job.

Sean found himself spending a lot of time with her because of her knowledge of the local terrain. The time together increased as she got more and more into a specific project that was near and dear to Sean's heart. Then, one day while they were just finishing up with the day's work, and had made great strides forward on the project, Sean looked into Katy's big brown eyes and saw something he had never seen before. He looked deeply into those eyes that were looking back with expectations, and said, "Katy, I want to kiss you."

"So, what's stopping you?"

Yes, they kissed, and they never looked back. A year and a half later they were wed and less than a year after that Mary Katherine O'Rourke came to be. Named for Sean's dearly departed grandmother. It was wonderful to see Katy again and to hold her little one. Mostly though, it was nice to see another Bridge House girl who made it. She was doing great, and she said she'd never been happier. They were still living for the time being in Kutztown, which was an easy commute for Sean and a great little community to raise MK, which is what they called her. When she heard that I had reclaimed my kids and was now raising them Katy cried tears of joy for me. "Sometimes I wish, Hannah."

"Don't, Katy. You have to let go. And if you can't, the new center we are building where the Bridge is can help. Let me know. You have a wonderful family centered around a beautiful child. Put your energy there. Trust me."

Oddly enough they were sitting with the Lawrences and she and Linnie had been comparing notes and commiserating about the shape their bodies are in. Larry and Sean were getting along famously, and it seemed, from the looks of things Larry was going to wind up with yet another client for his Estates department. My kids somehow disappeared into the ether, but I did 't worry. Domingo has the front, and nobody is leaving this place unless I want them to. I decided it was time to spend some time with the Tuttlehills before the larger group of Bridge girls arrived.

"So, how are my favorite billionaires doing?"

"Bittersweet, Hannah." Gloria said.

"Oh?"

"Yeah. This week has been a wonder on wheels, but the weeks to come are going to be tough."

"Gloria, grab your coat and walk outside with me for a minute. I want to do a walk and talk."

She grabbed her coat and I grabbed Avi and she grabbed one of her two guys and we headed down Panama to Twentieth, with the intent of walking to Rittenhouse Square and back. That would give me the time I need to let out how I am feeling about her and what she is doing and how it can affect her wonderful family that I love.

I probably haven't done Gloria, my Glorious one, the justice of properly describing her. I know I have told you she is statuesque at five foot ten. She is beautifully proportioned with an athletic body. She looked as much the swimmer as her oldest daughter. I wouldn't call her face beautiful. It was more handsome as she had a more masculine look. That's it. She was more like a handsome man than a beautiful woman. But, in a way, she was that too. When she put herself together and made herself up, there isn't a man in the room that would refuse her attentions.

"Tell me, Gloria, how did last night go? How are you going to hold up now that you can't have sex?"

"Remember, Hannah, I can have sex at least once. But it has to be with you. And Master has not limited the duration of that sex. After that he may change the parameters of my bondage. Oh, and the sex is not to be reciprocal. I can only give. I cannot receive. Master did say, however, that I may be undressed, except for my Iron Panties. For your benefit, of course."

"Did you at least enjoy yourself last night?"

"It was wonderful. Six very large, and I don't mean tall, black men took me front and back, side to side, and inside out. It was amazing. I really needed it. And now, I don't know how I'm going to do without it."

"Don't. Take those Iron Panties off and tell Malcolm to go fuck himself. I'll tell you what. You do that and I will do you. If you really want to taste my pussy that's your chance. But I will not be a party to his extortion. I have been there and don't play nice under those circumstances."

"Oh, Hannah, please don't upset the applecart with Master. I beg you. No matter what you think, it has to be Alvin and I who decide our futures and the future of this family. With Master's guidance, of course. Hannah, I want you in my life. I want our families together moving forward. Can't you see how good we are for each other? But if you put a wedge between Master and us, that may bring our relationship to a crashing halt. I don't want that, and I know you don't, so let's find some sort of solution along the way. Hopefully, starting with me licking your twat."

"Gloria, January is going to be a very busy month for me. It could be a good month or a bad one depending on the decisions I make. The hardest decision this month, however, will be whether or not to spread my legs and invite you in between them."

"Hannah, I promise you it's a decision you won't regret. Your sweet pussy will never have been happier."

"Nothing better than a happy pussy."

"Oh yeah? I think there is nothing happier than a sore pussy, inside and out."

"And is your little pussy piercing doing its job?"

"Oh yeah. It won't go off until sometime during the middle of the night. Then Alvin will replace the batteries in the morning and the whole thing starts over again."

"How do you do it? Does that thing really keep you on edge?"

"Does it ever. Some days I wonder how I do it. But it makes me a stronger person in every way."

"Even with the distraction."

"The key to that is to put any distractions aside in your mind and focus on the task at hand. Master's training has been key to that. For Christ's sake, I helped to negotiate a multibillion-dollar deal with a pussy that was humming and craving a cock. And although I got a month's worth of cock these past couple of days, every day is a new day and I awake with new needs. I'm just happy Master has trained me well and I have been prepared for these eventualities."

"And the kids?"

"So far, so good with them, but Harry is going to have to be brought into the family secret sooner rather than later."

"Why? You've made it work so far?"

"Yeah, but there will be changes coming that cannot be unseen."

"What does that mean? Don't tell me you are getting your face tattooed?"

"No, silly. At least not yet. Master has taken me off birth control as of the first of the year. The next time I am lucky enough to get fucked, I expect it will be one of his weekend fuck fests where I am at the peak of my fertility, and he fucks me like a dozen times over the weekend. Hopefully more. After that it's Katie Bar the Door. When we finally do bring our little brown baby into this world, the child's birth will remain unpublicized until such time as we are ready to proclaim to the world that we are owned by Master Malcolm."

"Again, Gloria, what about the kids?"

"The kids will be fine. Master Malcolm has promised he will do nothing to get in the way of Harry's Olympic ambitions. Both of them have met him and have a positive feeling toward him."

"Your kids met him?"

"Yes, while we were on vacation last year. He was introduced as a business associate at the resort with his family. The kids thought nothing of it and were introduced to his two kids, aged fourteen and ten. We have lots of those. But only one Master. During the bulk of the time on that vacation my kids played with his and he and I would sneak off on occasion and put our bodies together in a mutually beneficial way."

"So, you have met the kids who could potentially be the half-brother or sister to the child you'd have with him?"

"Only two. He has many children, and the woman was not his wife. Like me, she is one of his slaves who was acting the part with the two children she has with Master. He supports them but does not live with them. The kids got along great, thank God."

"Why Thank God?"

"Because in time, after I give birth to Master Malcolm's child, we will become part of the collective family overseen by Master."

"I can't believe my ears are not exploding from hearing this. You tell Malcolm this the next time you speak to him. Tell him that Hannah Todd's got her eyes on him. Tell him he is very lucky he has not had to deal with me in the past, but I can be a pretty rough customer. Tell him I'll lick your pussy. But he must let go of all strings to you and set you free to be your own person without his so-called guidance."

"Oh, please Hannah, don't make me do that. If you tell me to, I must. It is my Master's orders. I, most assuredly, will be punished in the most extreme way possible. Please take it back."

"No. I will not take it back. It's my line in the sand, Gloria. I will not cross it. And if that son of a bitch wants to go to war over it, tell him to bring it on. But I hope you will be enough of a friend to let me know it's coming."

"Oh, if you make me tell him I can guarantee you it's coming. And it won't be pretty. Especially for the Tuttlehills. Master has a very dark past and I would hate to see him bring the creatures who reside there into the present."

"I'm hoping and praying you mean that as a warning and not a threat. I've dealt with creatures such as this."

"And?"

"In short, they are no longer with us. Gloria, I am a no-nonsense kinda gal and if I get pushed I push back harder. With a snap of his fingers, Duane could have twenty guys on Malcolm's ass fighting for the right to see whose gun goes up it. Trust that I am not to be fucked with, Gloria. And he should know that sooner rather than later. It will save us all a whole lot of suffering."

"You're very young to have such a history."

"I'm young for a lot of things, but trust me, I am not so young as to be fucked with."

"Is that why you carry that gun with you wherever you go?"

"Fuckin' right. And it's got notches on it. But there's always space for one for him."

"Please, Hannah,..."

"Save it, Gloria. Let's do our best to be friends and do what we can to separate your Master from our relationship. I'll let you lick my pussy."

"Oh, thank you, Hannah. I can't wait to taste you. Come by on Monday while the kids are in school. We can have some privacy, and I will give you a world class orgasm or two."

"Fine, and we'll say no more about this. If your Master has something to say, he can say it directly to me. I don't want to talk to him through you or any other proxy."

"I'll do my best, but I walk a fine line."

"It's your line to walk. Until you decide it's not."

"It truly is not that simple, Hannah."

"I don't have room in my life for shades of gray. When I am called to be decisive I am. And so far, my decisions have worked out just fine. I still haven't made my first billion, but I expect to get there in time. But not with the likes of your Master up my ass."

"How about if I just eat your pussy and forget about the rest?"

"No! I want him to know it all,"

She looked down, silently, as we walked. When we hit the Square, we walked through and around it and headed back to the townhouse. All around the Square we didn't say two words to each other. Then as we headed back down Nineteenth Street, she opened up.

"You know, Hannah, you're right. It's probably for the best that I not eat your pussy and that we just do our best to be friends and whatever the Master wants to dish out I will take and learn to enjoy it."

"It's a shame. I was starting to look forward to it."

"Then fuck it. It's a date. This coming Monday at my place."

We completed the walk arm in arm and tried to keep things upbeat from that point on. When we got back to the house the Mummers were wrapping up and the commentators were giving their opinions and making their picks as to what clubs did best in which divisions. I thought Quaker City was grand, but I did not see all the bands and I missed South Philly when Gloria and I were out for our walk. They are always a strong annual contender and took first prize last year.

When we entered the townhouse, it was starting to get busy. Samantha and Elena were there with her family, and Missy too. The Lawrences and the Chus had also arrived, and the doctors were just coming down with their little one. I asked them to hang around for more fun, but they are expected for New Years dinner at Dr. Chu's cousin's house in Chinatown. Now that the parade has moved to its prime destination, Second Street, the roads were clearing up pretty quickly and they would have no problem getting across town. Mrs. Chu, though, pulled me aside to thank me.

"Hannah, thank you so much for your kindness in watching our Lily. You never really know how much you need time together until you get it. I haven't felt this tuned up in forever. Thank you for that."

"I hear you sister. And it doesn't have to end here. Can you say sleepover. I'm sure the girls would love to entertain Lily. I'm sure you and the doctor could figure out what to do with an empty house with no kids."

"I'm already making plans. Bless you Hannah. We are destined to be great friends."

"I'm planning on it."

I walked the Chus out and the doctor thanked me as well. And just before he left, he whispered in my ear, "You are most special, my dear." Sent a bit of a shiver down my spine. I'm getting the feeling nothing can prepare me for 2055.

I was sitting at a table with four of the girls when Gloria Tuttlehill approached and put her hand out to me. "Hannah, we've got to go. Alvin and I have some important meetings tomorrow and we have to spend some time preparing tonight. I'm going to take the girls too. It will be nice to wake up to their bright shining faces in the morning."

"Okay. I'll see you Monday."

"You know it. It's a date."

I went back to my girls and discussed how much I was not looking forward to the next year, between carrying twins, birthing them and breast feeding them, my body would be taken to its limit. We talked about exercise programs and skin care regimens and how long I'll be breast feeding, and how I felt about breast feeding two babies. I told them I felt awful about all of it and that the whole baby thing came out of the blue.

"But now that it's happening?" Missy asked.

"I have to admit, despite all the crap, I couldn't be happier. I'm having the children of a man I love deeply and who it seems likes me a lot too."

"Oh he's fuckin' nuts over you, Han." Lizzie said as she walked up to the table. "That man will do anything for her. Anything. On demand and at command. And he is the perfect alpha male. And pretty. If I had to fuck a man, he'd definitely be in the running. But don't count on it anytime soon."

"How about me?" Missy asked.

"Missy, have you come over to my side of the field? Oh, Missy, I'd play with you any day. In fact, have you seen my apartment?"

"No, I haven't."

"It's like Disneyworld. I think you'd like it."

"Goodnight, Hannah, I'm going to Lizzie's. Happy New Year."

"Hey, what about me?" Called out Angela, Missy's roommate for the parade, now that her boyfriend had left.

"You can come too, if you wish, but your vagina may never be the same afterwards."

"Then I'm in. I think it's in for a workout. Gotta get the cobwebs out."

"Oh," Lizzie said. "Cobweb removal is right up my alley."

They were gone in seconds. Lizzie can smell a hungry pussy a mile away, and two. Well, that she just can't resist. Those girls have no idea what they are in for. But it will be a treat.

Lizzie would be coming home with us tomorrow, but I had no idea when I'd see the others again. I tried to encourage them to attend the golf tournament, and everyone said they would. In fact, Samantha and Missy volunteered to work it with us. Missy, mostly because she was now working with Mr. Schaeffer at Bridge House and the tournament was a natural extension of The Bridge.

Samantha talked about taking on a project Holly started but never really kept up with. It was an internet website and newsletter for Bridge House alumni to meet and greet and share. Holly was in the first stage of bringing together gals from the various eras to form a leadership group to monitor the newsletter and feed. It would take hard work and sacrifice to make it work, so I decided to get involved.

"Sammie, have a safe ride home and I want you to think about something. Put together for me a proposal on what it would take to get the newsletter and feed up and fully running and staffed so that it is monitored and kept virus free and in good working order."

"Hannah, how did you know..."

"Sammie, I'm Hannah Todd. And you are sitting in my Queendom. Just let me know what you need. If nothing else, it will be wonderful to hear from you."

"Give me a month or so, Hannah and I'll have something for you."

"You know where to find me."

"Yep. On your throne."

"Wise ass."

"Hungry much, Hannah?" Missy, our most recently pregnant alum, asked. "That's the second bowl of soup since you got back from your walk with your friend."

"Yeah, and that can only mean one thing. I gotta pee. Excuse me ladies."

I went up the four floors to my suite to the privacy of my own potty. The mere quiet of it was comforting despite the exertion of climbing all those steps. And then the thought of having to go back down and one more time tonight climbing those stairs possessed me. But then I felt a little hungry and decided it may be time for another bowl of soup. Or more.

When I got downstairs all the girls were getting their coats on, heading to the Bellevue for one last nightcap and the always bittersweet goodbyes. I had Ronnie and Caroline escort them. I had booked them a suite there maybe just to nudge them along. So, they wouldn't be back to us till morning. That is when we will pack up the cars and head back to the country.

For tonight though, there was much to do, and Holly usually does it and in her state, Lizzie has been sitting in for her. Well, Lizzie just ran off with two of our Bridge House sisters and it looks like it's going to fall on Duane and I. And of course, Bertha and Aggie. Mac is also a bigger help than I give him credit for.

Speaking of big help, which, the caterers were. They did everything we asked of them and more. Even Bertha praised them and their abilities. Fortunately, things went better than expected. Virtually as our last guests were leaving, the Party Company that took care of our table and chair situation were in and out in a matter of minutes. The caterer made sure that there were no foodstuffs left in the house other than the handful of fruit salad cups Bertha premade for breakfast just to take the edge off. We'd be having breakfast in King of Prussia, at a place in the mall that is said to have the best breakfast/brunch/lunch in the Mid-Atlantic. It was called 'The Perfect Omelet,' and it delivered.

I decided to have the everything omelet, but my server warned me that there are so many flavors that they tend to fight each other and recommended that I stick with two or three fillings. I followed her advice and got the Philly Cheesesteak Omelet with Fried Onions and Mushrooms, with a heaping helping of home fries. My server seemed impressed. It's a pricey item. It's half the price if you substitute mushroom for steak.

The adults got mostly omelets, except the guards who got breakfast burritos so their hands could become free at a moment's notice. The kids got a mix. Celeste had the waffles because she like the shapes they were made in for the kids. Peach and Georgie had pancakes because they put smiley faces on them. After brunch we decided to walk it off in the mall. The kids could not get over the place. It is a form of culture shock to see suburban living at its most extravagant. All three of the kids asked when they could come back and see the whole place. We promised we would, but right now it's time to have some relax time between now and the day school starts. Starting with getting home. There's laundry to do and much more to be done.

I have meetings this afternoon with Linnie and my financial advisers with regard to finishing off last year and getting this year off to a good start. At two, a couple of my financial people showed up and we adjourned to my office where we discussed last year and our great successes and very few flops. Before we went very far, I told them to look into the Tuttlehills. I told them they were taking their company public Monday and I want a million dollars worth of the stock. I don't want the purchase attributed to me or any of my companies. So, they should be able to put a straw purchaser in place to make any buying selling transactions. That should probably put another quick million or so in my pocket if we get in early enough. We brought Linnie in towards the end of the meeting to make sure she was aware of the things we were doing that we had legal concerns about. After that was dismissed, I asked Linnie to stay on the line while I walked the people down and out.

When I got back up to the office and the video conference room, I was a bit winded. So not like me. Already? It's gotta be the twins. Linnie was right there waiting for me as associates and assistants approached her. When I got on the line, she shooed them all away. "Okay, Hannah, what kind of trouble are you getting into now?"

"Me, trouble? No chance. Actually, Linnie, everything is pretty peaceful around here now that we're home. I'm going to take the weekend and just chill with the kids and hit the ground running on Monday. Do we have dates for Acquisitions and Recovery yet?"

"Schatz, do we have a status on Todd Acquisitions and Todd Recovery?"

"I can have the word on that in five minutes, ma'am."

"You've got three."

"Yes, ma'am."

"So, Hannah, why the push?"

"I just want these companies and the ability to do what they do up and running as soon as possible. We've picked one of our own people to run Recovery and I'm in the process of selecting someone to run Acquisitions."

"Oh, who's running Recovery? I don't think we've been given a name to date."

"Is that what's holding up the works?"

"I doubt it. If he has no ownership of the company, it shouldn't matter. Who is it?"

"Avi, Avi Gold. He did work like this for Mossad for years. He's smart, understands what is expected from an administrator as well as what is expected from those in the field. With Avi, Duane and I feel we get the most bang for the buck. We expect to be adding people, but Avi will continue to be the top dog."

"That leaves a big hole in Acquisitions, Han. We can push all the paper we want, but without someone to run it it's nothing but a paper company, with nothing to show for itself."

"Fuck that. I'll run the fucking thing myself if I have to, Linnie. You know how important it is to me."

"Do you want me to find someone for you, Hannah?"

"No Linnie. The person I'm going to want you probably wouldn't associate with outside your criminal practice. Now there's a fertile ground for candidates."

"What are you talking about, Hannah. You're sounding ridiculous."

"Not really. Larry has a good criminal practice. Some of the smartest bad guys in town have Larry as their counsel. It's just a fact, Linnie. But let me think about that for a while. I don't know that I'm willing to go that dark so soon. Right now, I need someone who is reliable and who I can trust. With Avi I know I have that. The rest of my guys are the backbone of Royce Field Services so I don't want to deplete my best guys from there. And anyone who is coming in from outside to run one of my companies is going to have to undergo a vetting like none before it. Your thoughts are always welcome, Linnie and there is no one whose advice I cherish more."

"You charmer, you. Whatcha doing, Hannah, reverting to your old ways."

"Linnie, I can smell your pussy all the way over here. You are still my biggest unmet challenge."

"Stop it, you. You know what Larry would do if he heard that?"

"No, what?"

"He'd drag me upstairs and fuck the shit out of me."

"So?"

"Of course, I'll tell him and hope for the best."

"Well, get it while you can, girlfriend. You're on that Irish twins roller coaster where you live between crazy desires and crying yourself to sleep when you look at yourself in the mirror. And if he just ain't doin' it for you come up here and I'll get you tuned up. Me and Lizzie will take you upstairs while the kids are at school and give you a proper drubbing. And if that husband of yours doesn't start paying attention we will draw you over to the dark side and you'll never want to go back."

"I don't know about that. I've already gone black for good, and for one good man. If I have to do without for a while, so be it."

"Unacceptable. Pregnancy is hard enough. Without sex it's unbearable. He will learn this either the easy way or the hard way. Do I have to have Duane talk to him?"

"Hannah! What is with you. New year, twice as bossy?"

"I've been hearing that lately, but not from my employees. They seem pretty damned satisfied with me."

"Good. As it should be."

All of a sudden Linnie was getting very busy. Person after person kept interrupting and getting her to sign things. "Hannah, I gotta go. See you down here in two weeks. My cook this time. Okay?"

"Got it. See you then. And Linnie."

"Yeah, Hannah."

"Take a minute for yourself. Between being counsel, boss and mother there needs to be time for just Linnie."

"I love you too, Hannah. Call if you need anything."

I wrapped up the call with Linnie and closed up the video conference room. I sat at my desk and opened my laptop to review a few new proposals regarding investments and charitable contributions. And I also wanted to review the pool addition. A project, scheduled to start in March, that I couldn't wait to get off the ground. They'd come in and dig a giant hole along the south side of the house. Once we were satisfied with the hole, the foundation would be poured, strong enough to support two stories above it. Then slabs will be brought in for the subbasement walls. Then a ceiling will be set and poured. Once it is set another set of walls is put in place around the slab. The next floor would be the pool floor, and the floor will have to be able to support a two lane Olympic sized pool, and more. It would be the pool we hoped would take Cee Cee to the Olympics. Her friend and mentor Harriet Tuttlehill would have her shot in 2056, and if she's good enough a return try in 2060. That's the year we expect to be Celeste's first year swimming for flag and country.

I decided to go for a run, so I put on my cold weather running gear. Note to self; get new running gear, this stuff's getting tight. I snagged Avi on the way out and told him to get his gear on and catch up to me. I started out slowly and got slower quickly. Avi caught up to me in about five minutes. I just wanted to talk to him about Recovery, which is going to be his baby.

Once he caught me I slowed my pace and decided to walk and talk.

"So, Avi, I just wanted to get a private minute with you to talk about Todd Recovery. I don't want to go into detail while we are running around, but I'd like to know your feelings about getting the company off the ground."

"Yes, Miss T., the first thing we need to set up is a communications network and pull our resources together in one place. We have to make sure we have decent agents who are trained and aware of the mission. I intend to bring in a couple of veterans I've been vetting but I'm not quite there with them yet. That's the hardest part, Miss T..."

"Let me stop you there, Avi. If you are to run one of my companies, we will have to be on a first name basis, I insist."

"Okay. Hannah then?"

"Hannah. Always Hannah."

"Any idea when we can get rolling for real?"

"Ya know, I wish I could put my finger on it, but I need the people in place first. I could use a real good administrative person for the office and central command. Is there anyone in the Todd-Bernstein sphere who I could snag with a promotion?"

"You know I think I can arrange that. And you say that position would be at the office, as in the Navy Yard?"

"Yep."

"Hmmm, I think there may be someone I can recommend. You keep looking and I will let you know. Do you know Leslie McKelly?"

"I do now." I spoke into my wrist. "Call Les McKelly."

"Hello, McKelly."

"Les, it's Hannah Todd. I hope I'm not disturbing you at home."

"Miss Todd, you cannot possibly disturb me. How can I help you. I happen to be in the office today. Beginning of year stuff. You know how that is."

"Do I ever. I was on a video with some of my people all afternoon. Les, what is it that you do for me down in your office?"

"I am Julie Evers' assistant, but I pretty much run receivables for Barry Athletic."

"How much do you like your job?"

Silence. Fifteen seconds. Thirty seconds. Forty seconds and she spoke up. "It's a good job Miss T."

"That's not what I asked."

"Well, to be honest, I have requested promotions when they came around but so far no good. I don't think Julie wants to let me go. She may have to do her job, God forbid. Oh. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to say that."

"No. That's exactly what I want to hear. Les, would a position located at the Navy Yard be a hardship for you?"

"Hardship? It would be amazing. It's not so far from home and a bus that runs to and through the Navy Yard is two blocks from my house. It's the main line for two-streeters and others from South Philly to get to work. It would take a thirty-five to forty-five minute commute and turn it into a ten minute bus ride. Is it a lateral hire?"

"No. It's a promotion with a raise. But with that will come additional responsibilities and some good old-fashioned hard work, but I get the feeling you will love it."

"Please tell me more. You're driving me crazy."

"The company is called Todd Recovery. Our business is finding victims of human trafficking and reuniting them with their families."

"What's the catch?"

"Catch?"

"Nobody does something like this for nothing. Where's the money. As someone who has worked in receivables for the past few years, I know what it's all about."

"Astute. But this is the kind of business that you have never seen before. And your job is going to be a lot less about money and a whole lot about poor lost souls. If you accept this job expect to get personally involved in the lives of strangers you have never met and will probably never see again after they have been liberated and placed back with their families or in a facility where they can be cared for and made whole enough to rejoin society."

"Wow. The more you talk the more tempting it sounds."

"Think about it, Les. No need for a snap decision. The company isn't going to hit the ground for another couple of weeks, at least, but when it's time I'm going to need you to come in and help us get the ball rolling."

"I don't have to think about it. Your spirit is contagious. I'm in. Just clear the way with my boss."

"Don't worry, I'm her boss's boss. She calls me 'Yes ma'am.' You call me Hannah. From now on that's the way it is. Can you free yourself up in the next week or so to break away for two days?"

"Sure, I can make that happen."

"Good. I'll let you know when. You'll come up and spend the night with us in Romansville and you and Avi and I can talk about our plans going forward. You and Avi will become great friends. He will be your direct boss. He's an experienced field operative with years of experience. He will teach you well but expect much from you. Support him well and you will never find a more dependable ally."

"Why are you doing this for me, Hannah? Before Christmas I only knew you as my boss's boss. We'd never even met. But that day, forgive me, I fell in love with you. You had me at 'Hi, I'm Hannah Todd.' It's almost too much to say yes. but it's my great honor to say yes."

Then welcome to the team. I'll have Avi call you about a couple of days this coming week. Doable?"

"Consider it done. Remember, I'm a South Philly mom. Child care is not a concern."

"Oh?"

"My husband's family and my historic family have their roots in South Philly so we have lots of family around. My sister is married to my husband's cousin and has two kids. He has two married brothers in the neighborhood, and we are all part of the Quaker City family and the greater Mummers community which is very strong in our Second Street neighborhood. Reciprocal childcare has been the salvation of our neighborhood and has allowed working mothers the freedom to bring money home and into the community. And check the phone directory for McKelly. Most of them are related in some way to my husband."

"Les, I can't tell you how valuable that kind of flexibility gives us. The more time I spend talking to you the more I like this. Go. Finish your day and go about your business as you always do. I'll let you know when it's time to make a move."

"Miss Todd, Hannah, I don't even know where to begin to thank you. I promise to work my ass off for you. You will never find a more loyal employee. You need me, call me. I am at your service until you say I'm not."

"You just take it easy, have a great weekend and we'll talk next week."

I can't begin to say how good I felt after that call. My gut told me I made a good decision. Now all I have to do is find someone for Acquisitions, so I have a way to fund Recovery. To be honest, it's more important to me to get Recovery off the ground because every day is another day of agony for those who knows how many girls out there. I'm just concerned if we don't get Acquisitions off the ground soon, we may miss the opportunity to grab a big piece of Peace Dunbar's and maybe George Barry, Sr.'s undiscovered wealth. It's going to take a very special kind of person to lead the efforts with this company and we may just have to seek our best possibilities in the realm of the underworld. We shall see.

Well, enough sitting back, time to enjoy some time with the kids. As I walked to the entrance to the office my supercell buzzed in. It was an unknown number, which I used to hang up on, but put on 'Record' instead and picked up.

"Hello"

"I know who killed Peace Dunbar."

"Who is this? What do you want?"

"I know who killed Peace Dunbar and I have proof."

Then the line went dead.
