Final Chapter: Fantasy Reversed
Story so far (Recap) (Sunita and Amit arrived in Andaman to get a relief from their daily busy life. But beneath the picturesque splendor, tensions simmer. Amit's casual contempt begins to appear, notably when he quips to Shiva, their local driver that Sunita is not his wife bu a "high-end call girl." Sunita overhears the statement, her heart shattering. Instead of confronting him immediately, she decides to play along--turning the tables with grace, mystery, and subtle seduction. She flirts with danger and passion, frightening Amit. As Sunita begins reclaiming her ground, Amit is forced to glimpse a side of his wife he never truly knew--or appreciated.)
Now next in the story
Sunita stepped into the coffee shop and quickly looked around. She saw the client sitting with Shiva.
As she came, both men stood up; their eyes hung on her, not only in respect but also in interest. Her silk saree whispered at her ankles, and she walked gently.
"Sunita, you're much more remarkable. Shiva was not overstating things."
Her eyes fixed, and she smiled softly. "Thanks a lot."
"Should we go over the terms?" Shiva intervened as a mediator.
"Sunita's time is limited, and her fees show that, sir. Fifty thousand over two nights, apart from lodging, judgment, and total care."
"She is very clear on that. No bargaining."
The client said that the price was high, but he still agreed.
Meanwhile, Amit burst into the cafe. His voice sliced through the tension like a knife; his face was red.
"What the hell is happening right now."
Everyone looked his way. The client seemed unhappy.
"Who is this?"
Shiva exhaled, irritated. "Her husband."
Sunita rose slowly, the chair producing a gentle scratching noise on the floor. Her tone was measured, frigid.
"Amit, this doesn't concern you.
"Not my business? He yelled. "You are my wife!"
Rising, the client brushed imaginary dust off his sleeve.
"Your wife? This is absurd. I stay out of the family drama. Shiva, let me know if you resolve this."
He left in a hurry.
Shiva exhaled. "That was unexpected, well..."
Desperation seeping from his voice, Amit looked to Sunita. "Sunita, how could you do this?" Her gaze fixed on his, her expression impossible to discern.
"How could I? Following what you told Shiva? After you called me a high-grade call girl?"
He tried to grab her wrist, but she backed away.
"I messed up, damn it! I was an idiot. I never imagined it would go this far!"
Her voice was soft as she came closer.
"It did, after all. And now you understand what it feels like to be humiliated, to be reduced to someone's fantasy."
Amit's posture drooped as shame choked his throat. Sunita,
"I regret it. I promise I didn't mean to."
Shiva stood, spinning the last sip of his coffee in the cup before he could complete it.
"I hate to break in on this... moving drama. But you ought to be aware of something."
They looked at him. "Sunita wasn't going to go through with it," he continued, his lips curving into a knowing sneer.
"She told me before we arrived that this was all a show. One lesson."
Amit looked at Sunita, breath catching. "Is that true?"
She did not respond right away. She was walking to the window.
After a protracted silence, she softly replied, "Did I sleep with him? No." No, not at all. But I hoped you would believe I could. Just long enough for you to experience what I felt--cheap, accessible, disposable."
Though her voice was steady, it quavered at the edges from all the scars he had caused.
Amit advanced. His voice faltered. "I believed I was the man in this marriage... until I watched you become someone else's fantasy. "
"I despised it since, deep down, I knew I never deserved you."
She then gradually turned to confront him. Without embarrassment, he fell to one knee in front of all watching.
"Sunita, I regret it. I won't tell you to forget, but please let me show you how I can improve. " Sunita observed him. Length. Then, at last... she agreed.
"Amit, you will have one chance, Only one. And you will earn me back--inch by inch."
Her lips curved with a shadow of a smile.
Shiva arched an eyebrow. "Damn. Perhaps I ought to start charging to save the marriage."
Amit and Sunita both glared at him. But then their eyes met--and a genuine smile crossed between them for the first time that day.
