Siege At Freaktown Ch. 14

Carlos and his crew made the anxious trip to the motel Forth, hoping to put an end to Bennett's reign of terror The rest of the day remained dark and cloudy with little rain coming down, making it easier for Helena to join in on the action now instead of waiting on the sidelines until the evening arrived.

"Are you ready for this?" Carlos asked, while both rode in the back of No Face's pickup. "They'll be ready for us."

"Then let's not disappoint them," said Helena. "You think Bennett wants to be taken alive?"

"Well, that's all up to him. Hopefully we end this now and be done with it."

"All the way, babe."

They were within a block away from the motel with B-Man, Furball, Gemini, and Rattleman in the rear, along with the Harpy triplets providing air cover.

"We're just about there, kids," said No Face, "put your game faces on."

"Copy that," said Carlos. "Time for some payback."

"What payback?" Helena asked.

"They killed my car."

"Carly, you need to let it go."

"You weren't there. She blew up right in front of me."Siege At Freaktown Ch. 14 фото

"Yeah, I miss her, too."

Reassuring Carlos with a smile and a rub on his arm did little to make him feel any better. No Face pulled over, finally reaching the motel. Everyone stepped out of their vehicles and brought their firearms, with the ongoing plan to raid the motel and take Bennett alive. Carlos signaled his crew to split up and each take a room, keeping in mind what Wayne had told him earlier. All the young lieutenant could think of was capturing the leader himself.

That thought was put on hold by the sudden gunfire from the shooters of each motel room. Everyone ducked and fired back, shattering windows and punching holes into silk curtains. One humanoid was struck in the head while one of Sid's boys got hit in the chest.

"Rattleman!" Carlos shouted. "You're up!"

"Yesss."

He pointed him in the right direction and the Snakeman quickly made his move, smashing through the window of room number three. He spat venom in the face of one man, creating a burning sensation to his eyes. He quickly dealt with the other, wrapping his tail around the throat and snapped the man's neck like a twig. With the man's weapon on the floor, Rattleman picked it up, putting out the shooter screaming in pain out of his misery.

"Ah, fuck it," said Rattleman, deciding to have some fun.

He fired the machine gun at the wall, punching holes and striking down the men in the next room. All four of them were dead before they hit the floor. A shot struck down Rattleman from behind by one individual stepping out of the bathroom. Furball aimed and fired a head shot at the shooter. Two more of Carlos' crew were fatally shot, leading the Catman into a bloody killing spree.

It was Helena's turn to get nasty. She made her way through the window of room four, grabbing one shooter by the arm and slamming him against the wall. The next two were thrown out the broken window. Despite both being unarmed, Furball gunned them down without hesitation, leaving Carlos unimpressed with his actions. No Face took care of the rest in the last room effectively ending the fire fight.

"Seize fire!" Ordered Carlos. "Seize fire!"

No Face checked around the back for any more surprises. The young lieutenant checked the room where Rattleman made his entrance, only to find him dead in a pool of his own blood.

"Shit," said Carlos. "Where's Bennett? Anyone found him yet?"

"He's not here," said B-Man, reloading his weapon.

"The coward fled," said Furball.

"He never planned on waiting for us," said Helena. "The bastard is laughing at us right now."

"Lieutenant Perez," said No Face, "you better take a look at this."

Everybody followed the former vet to the back of the motel, only to find a horrific scene carrying the scent of death. Naked corpses of citizens piled up, attracting flies and maggots feasting upon their rotting flesh.

"Dios mio," said Carlos.

"Fucking fleshers," said Furball, leaving in disgust. "I'm gonna kill every last one of them!"

"They've been here awhile," said Helena. "These psychos really want to wipe us all out."

"What happened to their clothes?" Asked B-Man.

"Bennett did this," said No Face. "He kills and then humiliates them by stripping everything that makes them people... instead of freaks."

Seeing this much carnage showed what evil can really do, and the young lieutenant had seen too much already in this senseless war Bennett had brought upon.

"Let's get out of here," he said.

Before heading back to base, two shots were fired around the corner. Everyone checked to see Furball, wounding one of the surviving shooters, hitting both of his legs. Sid would be the lucky one to survive and be interrogated if the Catman allowed it.

"Hold your fire!" Carlos yelled.

"Why should I?" Furball asked. "Give me a reason."

"We need him alive."

"Why?"

"Answers."

"Furball, stand down," said No Face.

As much as he refused, Furball obeyed and allowed Carlos to speak with Sid. The young lieutenant thought he would give up information just as Wayne did earlier, but it turned out this man was a loyal soldier not afraid of dying.

"All right, asshole," he asked. "Where's Bennett?"

"You think I'll tell you?" Sid laughed. "I'll tell you this, the extermination is coming. There won't be any more places for you freaks to hide. You're all done; finished. But you, cop, Lloyd wants to kill you last."

"He'll have to find me first, and I'm not dying just yet."

"Fucking sellout. When you're gone, nobody is going to remember you or them. It's coming, it's coming real soon."

Gathering any info proved useless. Sid swore nothing but loyalty to his leader and kept it that way until he dropped. Carlos left him alone, long enough for Furball to put him down with a head shot.

"What the fuck are you doing?" Carlos asked.

"You finished talking to him," said Furball, "so I finished him."

"You're on thin ice, Catman. Real fucking thin ice."

"Whatever."

Carlos wanted to confront him, but exchanging fisticuffs with a mutant like Furball seemed way out of his league.. He had no chance against his strength and quickness. No Face stood in his way, making sure the young lieutenant didn't do anything he might regret.

"Forget it, son," he said, "let's head back to base. We've done enough out here already."

"Hey!" Gemini's right side yelled. "Isn't this a bit odd?"

They spotted her unveiling a delivery van covered up in a black tarp. Weapons were pointed at the vehicle with Gemini set to open the sliding door. Once the signal was given, the door slid opened only to discover no one was inside the van. Again no sign of Lloyd Bennett, leaving Furball even more anxious.

"Let's move out," said Carlos.

Lloyd Bennett had been elsewhere, getting his people to steal as many vehicles they could, replacing those they lost most recently. They went as far as stealing fire trucks, taxis, buses, and ambulances, killing the drivers in the process. The massacre would go on well into the night with fires spreading at an alarming rate. Lloyd's Plan C had come to fruition.
