Masters of the Opera Ep. 01

This multiple episode series is a drama which involves the private and public lives of singers in an opera company in Boston. The decade is the 1980s. Sakura Matsuo, a beautiful young 21 year old Japanese opera singer, a soprano, has just been hired with the Boston Opera company. The conductor of the opera house and symphony is Bertrand Rose, a British man age 50 He is married to the dramatic soprano Bianca Cavanaugh, age 33. Their marriage is falling apart. Bianca has a superior diva attitude and is unfaithful to Bertrand, taking on many lovers. During a production of Mozart's Don Giovanni, Sakura makes her operatic debut as Zerlina the country peasant girl. During intermission, Bertrand, her conductor, whom she is attracted to, knocks at the door of her dressing room. He is aware that his wife Bianca, who is singing the female lead role of Donna Anna, is sleeping with the baritone singing Don Giovanni. He tells Sakura that he is tired of being a cuckold and wants to start a private new relationship with her. Sakura consents to have sex when Bertrand seduces her. They have sex in the dressing room. He feels such pleasure as he has never felt before that he promises to reward her by making her a big star and his next wife one day when he has the guts to eventually get a divorce from his wife.
