It is now September of 1982. Sam Long, a disgruntled Union stage hand at the Boston Opera who has been fired from his job, vows revenge. Bertrand is preoccupied staging a production of Verdi's La Traviata. His diva wife Bianca Cavanaugh is set to star in the lead role of Violetta. When rehearsals begin, Bianca receives death threats in the forms of letters which mysteriously appear among her fan mail which she reads in her dressing room. A heavy camera light almost falls down on her. Not long afterward, a violinist in the orchestra, Sarah, is found murdered in an antechamber in the opera house. Fearful for his wife's safety, Bertrand tells her that she cannot sing the part of Violetta and must stay home until the psychotic killer can be found by the authorities. The police are called in and a private detective. A bodyguard is sent to protect Bianca and she is under watch by police 24/7 at her home. One night, while listening to a Maria Callas opera record, in her library, while Bertrand is elsewhere in their home, studying the score to Traviata, an intruder breaks into the house and attempts to kill Bianca. Bertrand saves her and fights the masked intruder but he runs away. For further safety, he tells Bianca she must go live with her mother in Atlanta for a period at least until the killer can be found and sent to prison. Meanwhile, the part of Violetta is now assigned to Sakura, much to Bianca's anger. This would be the first major starring role for Sakura. Sakura studies her part with Bertrand, her lover who is coaching her. The night of the premiere arrives. Sakura causes a sensation and becomes a star overnight. But that same night, the killer, Sam, breaks into Sakura's dressing room and tries to kill her but Bertrand once again fights him and apprehends him long enough for the police to arrive and arrest him. He is no longer a threat. Grateful for his saving her life and making her a star, Sakura once again has sex with Bertrand.
