This is the third part of "Temper Falls," a slow-burn series leading up to the sexual exploration of two consenting adults.
September attended her monthly family dinner. Her siblings informed her that their mom had a new man in her life. September met her mother's new partner, Desmond, and his daughter, Samirah. There was something about Samirah that intrigued September, but she couldn't understand what it was.
For ease of flow when either September or Samirah are thinking there name will follow in parentheses
September lay in her bed, looking at the ceiling. Her thoughts were all over the place. After she had made that bold move on Samirah, she was a ball of nerves.
"Why did I do that? I'm nowhere near that forward."
September got up and walked into her living room. It was Friday again, and Samirah had yet to call her. September had called off work today so she could take a day to relax. But now that she had a long weekend ahead, she had no idea what she was going to do with it.
Just then, her phone rang. She looked at the screen, and it was her sister saying she was outside and wanted to know if September had cooked breakfast. Somehow, her sister always knew when it was time to eat. She unlocked the door and made her way to the kitchen to start making something to eat.
As they sat there eating, Sapphire looked as if she had something to say.
"Girl, what is it? You look like you have something to say, just say it. What did you do now?"
Sapphire just smiled at me and wagged her finger. "Mmm, I think you need to tell me something. Like what the hell is going on between you and Samirah?" She paused. "Like, are y'all hooking up or what, because that tension is too thick. She looks at you like she wants to eat you alive."
I looked at my sister, dumbfounded, my mouth just hanging open.
Sapphire just laughed at me. "Girl, if you think you're hiding it, your ass is doing a fuck all job. That shit is too obvious."
"And when the fuck were you going to tell me you like women?"
I put my hands up defensively. "Pphire, you know I tell you everything. I don't like women, and you know that. I've never been with a woman. And if I had, I would have called your ass and asked you for tips."
Sapphire just shook her head side to side. "Nah, you two are definitely feeling one another."
Just then, September's phone alerted her that she had a text message. Her heart started to race because it was a message from Samirah.
-Hey lady, hope your week was well. I was wondering if you were free for drinks tonight?
September just stared at the phone and said nothing.
Sapphire snatched the phone and read the text. Smirking at her sister, she replied to the text.
-Hey girl, my week was well, as I hope yours was. I'm free tonight. I would love to grab drinks. Send me the location and I'll meet you there.
Sapphire threw my phone back at me and pulled me to my feet.
"Girl, come on, let's go shopping and get your nails done. You need to show out tonight."
My sister and I spent most of the day shopping, getting our hair and nails done. I let Sapphire pick out my outfit.
She decided on a plain black tank top with a black leather corset, a pair of sleek black leggings, and some all-black heels.
I looked at myself in the mirror. I was just an average woman. 5'8", not skinny not plus size, but slim-thick. I ran my hands over my 34C cups and down to my plump ass. I decided on a natural look for my makeup, and my naturally curly hair was manicured into a stylish, big, curly Afro that hung to my shoulders. The most alluring thing about me may have been the fact that I was milk chocolate but had naturally hazel-green eyes.
I looked at my sister and spun around, and she whistled.
"Girl, you look beautiful! I hope you have a great time tonight."
I sat on the bed beside my sister and placed my hand on her thigh.
"Be honest with me, Sapphire, am I fucked up for feeling this way about Samirah? I mean, she is the daughter of the man Mom's dating."
Sapphire pushed some hair out of my face and squeezed my hand.
"Look, sis, Mom is only dating this man, they're not married. If they get really serious, we'll cross that bridge later. For right now, I want you to only think about having a nice time. So take a deep breath and get out of here."
I smiled at my sister and hugged her tightly. I knew she was staying here to wait and see how this meet-up went.
As I got out of the car to go inside the restaurant, I could see Samirah sitting at the bar, her back to me. I took a deep breath and walked inside.
I walked up behind her and tapped her on her shoulder.
Samirah turned around and looked up at me. She stood and hugged me.
She looked amazing. She was wearing a pair of wide-leg jeans, a simple white button-up shirt hanging off her shoulder with the hem tucked in on one side. She had on large hoop earrings.
When she smiled, I could see she had a pair of bottom fronts on that sparkled in the lights. She had changed her hair color to a deep shade of blue.
Samirah stood a few inches shorter than me. She was caramel-colored with deep amber eyes. She had a voice that was smooth as satin and the deepest set of dimples.
She was just sexy as hell.
We took a seat and she asked me what I wanted to drink.
We ordered our drinks, and the waiter escorted us to a table in the back near a window.
She looks so damn beautiful. I just want to run my hands through her hair and pull her to me and kiss her. (Samirah's thought)
Instead, Samirah ran her thumb across the side of September's face, and September bit her lip and blushed.
September put her head down and coyly raised it back up.
Not wanting to waste any more time, she just came out with it.
"Samirah, what is this between us? When I'm around you, I can't think and just want to have some part of you close to me--touching me, seeing me. I have never felt this way about a woman before you."
"Just please tell me I'm not crazy and you feel it too?"
Samirah just smiled at me and leaned across the table. She grabbed me by the face, pulling me close. She placed a soft, exploratory kiss on my lips, looking me in the eyes. I looked right back at her and kissed her again.
This time, I searched her mouth with my tongue and tasted her. She tasted sweet like candy and strong like the vodka she'd been drinking. I felt if I kissed her any longer, she would become my drug and I would be addicted.
I placed my hand on her chest and pushed her back to her seat softly.
She grabbed my hand and turned it over, making soft circles with her finger in the palm of my hand.
She looked at me intensely and said,
"From the moment you walked into your mother's kitchen, I felt an energy surge with you. It's like fire slowly smoldering. No matter what I tried, I couldn't put it out." She sucked in air.
"All I wanted to do was call you and listen to the cadence of your voice. To drink the elixir that I know lies in between those legs. That's why I didn't call you. I was afraid that I would get hooked on you."
I just sat there and absorbed her and all she had to say.
Somehow I understood her words and knew the feeling. I just wanted to experience her in every way. (September's thoughts)
The rest of the night was like a choreographed dance; the two ladies were just in sync. Somehow they both knew the thing that was unspoken between them: their desire for each other, which was so pure. It hinged on the cusp of forbidden.
At the end of the night, Samirah walked September to her car. She pushed September up against it and pressed her body firmly against her, placing the softest, soul-binding kiss on her lips.
To September, it felt as if the air had been sucked from the space around them, and all that mattered was them two.
September took this moment to place her hands on the back of Samirah's head and began to rub it as she breathed in Samirah's fragrance. There was something there more than just her perfume. She recognized it because she had smelled it before from herself.
September inhaled the lustful scent of Samirah's arousal. It was the sweetest thing she had ever experienced. As they broke free from their kiss, Samirah placed a soft kiss on September's forehead and whispered softly,
"Good night, beautiful. Dream beautifully of me."
And she walked away.
September just stood there, mesmerized by this beauty who, with just a few kisses, had completely blown her mind.
