Cryptid
With hearts racing, and pounding in our chests, we waited. Waited in the concealment of the damp and musky-smelling forest underbrush, hoping upon hope, the pounding of our chests wouldn't give us away.
Had I given the situation any serious thought, I would have realized our clumsy running, noisily, through the forest, and our scent was what our stalker was using to track us - scent exacerbated by the intense fear we felt.
Feeling my cousin Ellie's uncontrolled shaking, I wrapped my arms around her. My attempt to calm her only seemed to increase the shaking, so I whispered in her ear, "Ellie, I'm scared too, but it'll be dawn soon. We just need to hold out a little longer. Whatever it is won't risk the light."
She lifted her head and the fear in her eyes was palpable. It was a struggle for her, but she nodded, and with trembling lips, whispered back, "But... but, it'll still be out there... waiting... watching us. Oh God, I don't want to die, Brian -- not out here, not like this."
She'd brought up a fear I shared. Lowering my head, I gently placed my lips on hers. Her trembling stopped when her lips parted. The kiss was passionate, and heartfelt...
Two days earlier...
In our tent, resting on my elbows, I watched my cousin lower her head, with her lips pursed. Lightly touching them against my hard cockhead, she kissed it. When she pulled away, a string of glistening pre-cum remained attached to her lips, stretching out until it broke. Locking eyes with me, she licked her lips, sucking in the sticky, slick, fluid.
"God, I love your cock," she whispered, rising to straddle me.
Outside the tent, the last embers of our campfire were dying, casting a yellow-orange-ish glow inside the tent, framing Ellie's naked body in a halo-like ethereal glow.
After lubricating my shaft with vaginal juices, she lifted just enough to force my cockhead between her pussy lips, and eased back down.
"Oh... fuck, yes!"
Her cry of satisfaction came when her ass rested fully on my hips.
"Ready?" I asked, knowing fair well what the answer was.
"Yeah, baby... grab my tits and fuck me silly," she moaned.
Somewhere in the forest, I was sure more than a few animals raised their heads, with ears perked, listening to Ellie's screaming orgasm that night. After three days without, it was long overdue for both of us.
The next morning, Ellie crawled out of the tent, wearing a blanket.
"Coffee?" I asked.
"Umm, please."
Taking the cup I poured, she sat on a camp chair. There's no bedhead like a camping bedhead, and Ellie looked incredibly sexy, sipping coffee, scratching her head. I was just about to say as much when she started to talk at the same time.
"No... go ahead," I told her. "You, first."
"I just wanted to thank you," she said.
"For?"
"Last night, you were wonderful... what were you going to say?"
"It was intense, huh? I think we might have scared some animals," I replied, getting a laugh. "Anyway, I was thinking we do a half-day circle, and if we don't find anything we pack up and head back. What do you think?" I added, answering her question.
"Sounds good, but I do have a request."
"Go ahead, shoot, what is it?"
Opening the blanket, Ellie flashed her nudity. "Well, before we head out... I'd love a quickie. Maybe a little doggie style this time?"
Present day...
The light of dawn finally lit up the treetops. Fear and exhaustion saw Ellie's eventual deep sleep; curled in a fetal position, her head rested on my lap. Silently, parting the branches of our hiding place, I scanned the area carefully. As the forest came alive, I knew we'd be safe for another run at escape.
Knowing I had to wake Ellie, I first considered our plight. The attack two days ago left us with no food and little water. The event occurred so quickly there was no time to grab much else but our backpacks. We'd lost everything else in our panicked escape, after the attack.
Gently rubbing her upper butt cheek, I urged her to wake up, whispering, "Ellie... El, wake up, babe, we got to get going."
She let out a soft moan, and grabbed my hand, pulling it off her butt to cradle in her arms against her breasts.
"No, Brian... I'm tired. You can have me later," she mumbled.
Shaking my head, I used a slightly rougher approach to getting her awake. It worked.
"Huh... what, what's going on?"
"It's daylight. We gotta leave, El," I replied, pulling my hand from her tit.
With a groan, she slowly pushed up, scratching her matted hair.
"Are you sure? You think it's still out there?"
"No way to tell, but the daytime is our best bet. You ready?"
"Do I have a choice?"
Pulling out my pocket compass, I opened it.
"Okay, near as I can figure we have to be five or more miles away from the cabin we saw when we walked in," I replied, holding up the compass, and pointing in the general direction of travel. "We'll have shelter and protection there, so no... you don't have a choice," I added.
Wincing, El got on her hands and knees to crawl out of our hiding place.
"You, okay?"
"Not sure... when we get out of here, will you look at my butt?"
Emerging from the brush, I found El already shoving her shorts down, groaning as she did. As her bare ass cheeks came into view, I grinned.
"Well, I'm no doctor, but I'd say you have a case of rock-itis," I commented, reaching to tenderly touch her large bruise.
Wincing, El strained to twist enough to see what I was talking about.
"What are you -"
"You must have been damn tired. Looks like you slept on a rock," I answered, cutting off her question.
"Shit."
"Yup, get your drawers back up, we gotta get going."
I led the way, with Ellie right on my heels. By the sun's position, I figured it was going on about noon, when we stared at a steep incline. Rechecking the compass, I told El we had no other choice, if we were going to make the cabin before dark.
"Jesus, there better be food there, that's all I can say," she remarked, resting her unbruised cheek against a downed tree log.
I grinned over her worrying about something else besides the immediate danger following us. When I looked like I was about to tackle the incline she protested.
"A break... just a short break, please."
The rest stop was short. A loud, crashing sound, off in the distance, alerted us. Wide eyed, El looked at me. Seconds later, a large rock hit the ground several feet away, solidifying the decision to move on, and quickly. We were still being pursued.
Surprisingly, we were making good progress up the steep hill until Ellie lost footing. Instinctively, I reached out grabbing her butt, stopping her fall. She let out a war-whoop.
"Jesus, not there! Grab my ass anywhere but there!"
"God, I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking," I said, apologizing, and shifted my hand away from her bruise. "You got your footing back?"
Giving her a one-two-three count, I shoved, getting her to the next level, listening to her curse.
"All I know is you're going to massage my ass big time when we get to that cabin," she complained.
"You mean if," I replied, sending her to silence.
The entire time we plodded along, sounds in the woods reminded us of the urgency we faced. We made only one other very brief stop, and that was to pee. The sun was close to setting when we crested the last small hill, finally looking at the cabin. No lights or vehicle suggested the cabin was empty.
"You think it's unlocked?" El asked, with a pleading look.
"Only one way to find out, come on."
In the back of my mind, I was praying it was. I had no desire to break in, possibly leaving access to what followed behind us. Trying the front door, Ellie cursed... it was locked. With nothing else to do, before breaking a window, we walked around to the south side finding a modest deck. El looked up, with hands together in prayer, as I tried the sliding glass door.
Heavy shadows started to cross the cabin, as I closed the sliding door, locking it.
Not meant to be for year-round lodging, the cabin seemed set up for it. It had basic amenities, from kitchen to bathroom with shower. A door in the kitchen opened to a pantry, and I heard El scream out in delight.
"FOOD! Oh my God, food, Jason."
I went to see what her excitement was about. When I approached, she held up a couple of olive-green pouches.
"It is food - right?"
I nodded.
"MREs (meal ready to eat), military issue. May not look all that appetizing, but they'll keep us alive," I replied, surprised at the heavily stocked shelves. Someone had gone out of their way.
Leaving El, I did a little exploring on my own. Seeing a small water heater in the pantry, I felt certain there had to be a power source somewhere. Finding it before it turned pitch black outside seemed prudent.
A sigh of relief escaped my lips when I found the gas-powered generator. Surprisingly, the generator started easily, and moments later after switching on the breaker box inside the cabin, we had lights, a working water heater, and running water, apparently from an underground well pump.
"Damn, all the comforts of home," I commented, watching El standing in the pantry doorway, woofing down an MRE.
"Wha abow a sha ur," she asked, with a mouth full of food.
"A couple of hours, I guess. Water heater isn't too big... I don't suppose there was anything else in the pantry?"
Reading my mind, she reached around the pantry opening, and brought out a bottle of burbon, and walked towards me. When I reached for the bottle, she held up an index finger, wiggling it as she swallowed her last bite.
"My backpack, get it," she said, holding the bottle hostage.
"What? Why?"
"You owe me, Brian... just get it."
Walking away, I heard the bottle cork pop. Returning, I found Ellie waiting with two double-shots poured. Handing over one glass, she took her bag, offered a toast and slammed her shot.
"Before you get any more, you have a job to do, here," she commented, handing over a tube of body lotion.
Grinning, I took the lotion from her. Unsnapping her shorts, she turned around, shoving them down.
"Well?" I asked.
"Well, what?"
"Are you going to bend over?"
El looked back at me, with a smirk on her lips. "Just remember, it's just the bruise you're going to massage," she wisecracked.
I got the message and set to work.
"You are one sexy woman, El."
"Sexy!? After two days of running, scared shitless, sweating, covered in God knows what, and a pussy that must smell like -"
"Stop, you know what I mean, and I could care less about all that other crap. Right now, you are the sexiest thing alive," I said, leaning to kiss the butt cheek I hadn't massaged. "Whoa... you are a little ripe," I added, teasing her.
Saying nothing, Ellie pulled her shorts back up and turned around. Spreading her legs she sat on my lap.
"You know... I should make you eat my pussy, for that smartass remark, mister."
As much as I wanted that to happen, it got delayed...
Five years ago...
Up until we turned twenty, Ellie and I had been basically playing as paranormal investigators. Our love affair was another matter; there was no playing there. Lying in bed, with Ellie on top of me, I watched her work pressing her labia lips around my erection. In slow motion, she moved her hips, covering and uncovering my cockhead. Each time it appeared, it was wetter.
"Do you like playing peek-a-boo?" she asked, in a sultry voice.
"As much as you do."
Locking her hands behind her head, she thrust her breasts out, continuing her shaft massage.
"I've been thinking..."
"About cumming?" I asked, groaning.
"No, about you and I becoming... you know, more professional," she replied, gasping over the renewed friction.
"Ellie, I love you... but can we talk about this later?"
Dropping her hands to my chest, she dipped and arched her back, moving just enough to place my cockhead against her clit. Later was coming sooner than I thought. Holding that position, she made minute thrusts with her hips bringing us both to climax.
I ejaculated once, before she had me inside her vagina, wildly riding me.
"Oh God... oh God, uh... uh, uh... yes... yes... FUUUUUCK I love your cock!"
Pulling her down, I sought her lips, as I emptied myself.
"For a cousin, you are one great fuck, Brian," Ellie sighed out.
"Yeah? Well, ditto."
We'd been lovers since we were eighteen, and only getting better at it. Lying side by side, kissing, touching and caressing after our intense orgasms, we talked about investigating the paranormal.
Present day...
"How's the water - hot?" I asked, poking my head into the bathroom.
"Eh... not hot, but it's okay, and feels heavenly. Want to join me?" Ellie replied, sticking her head out from the shower curtain.
"Sounds inviting, but I think I better keep an eye on things."
The contented look drained from her face, when I brought up the elephant in the room. The relative safety of the cabin had us both relaxed - perhaps too much so.
"Got it, I won't be too long," she responded, as I turned to leave. "Brian, wait... do you think we'll be safe here tonight?"
"Better than out there. We'll leave the lights on, that should deter whatever's out there. Hey, call out when you want your back washed," I said, blowing her a kiss.
I was wrong, and would know just how much later that night.
When El called out, I went in, stripped down and washed her back. As she stepped out, I stepped in for a quick shower. Ellie, afraid, never left the room, waiting to wash my back as I'd done for her.
Sitting on the only chair in the room, Ellie dried her hair as I toweled off.
"I'm sorry."
I heard her say, and looked at her.
"Sorry, for what?"
"We lost so much... at least, I have a change of clothing, you have nothing."
"Damn, guess I'll have to sleep naked tonight, and tomorrow I'll stay downwind from you, so you won't smell me," I said, jokingly.
Ellie chuckled.
"God, you're such a shit... I'm just glad you're my shit."
~
At some point in the night, I was awakened by what sounded like hail. Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I focused on the sound. It was inconsistent, not like hail at all. Then too, I heard no thunder, or saw flashes of lightning. Easing out of bed, so as not disturb Ellie, I moved into the living room.
A dark, hulking, form caught my eye, moving by the window. I froze. My penis and testicles reacted as if I'd jumped into cold lake water. Finally getting my legs to move, I silently went into the kitchen looking for a weapon... a knife - anything. The sound returned, this time sounding more like tapping to me, and close.
As fear raised the hackles on my neck, I slowly turned, looking at the kitchen window. A massive, black hand was pressed against the pane, and a single finger tapped on the glass.
tap... tap, tap... tap, tap, tap
Standing naked in the kitchen, with urine running down my leg, I cursed over being so stupid. Leaving the lights on had put us at a disadvantage, and given the cryptid every advantage. What the hand was attached to, I had no idea, but whatever it was had to be enormously huge.
How I managed to move was a mystery. One tentative step back, led to another, shaken and captivated at the same time. Unwilling to take my eyes off the window, I was forced to after backing into the kitchen counter, and briefly looked away to adjust where I was heading.
Snapping my eyes back to the window, I found the hand was gone, and only a handprint remained on the pane. I'd never felt that kind of fear.
My first action, obviously, was to turn off the lights, hopefully giving us a fighting chance. After that, I sat on a kitchen chair, I held my head in my hands, and simply wept, certain we may never make it out alive.
It took a while to get my thoughts together. Checking on Ellie, I was relieved none of what I'd experienced had woken her. Next, I returned to the kitchen, to find the bottle of burbon.
After a quick drink, I got dressed, smelly clothes or not. In the darkness of the cabin, it was plain to see the stark difference between moonlight and shadows. Knowing I couldn't be seen from the outside, or at least hoping so, I braved longer looks out the various windows.
Mustering the courage to return to the kitchen window, I began by taking quick peeks. The handprint remained, which puzzled me, after so long. Whatever it was, it had something on the hand that pressed against the window, leaving the print I saw.
Slowly, I calmed down and moved to take lengthier looks. Moonlight lit up the deck rail, and a portion of the field, followed by deep darkness. Shrugging my shoulders over seeing nothing, I started to move away. At that very moment, I saw the darkness move. The whites of deep-set eyes suddenly appeared, scant inches from the window.
"Holy FUCK!" I cried out, turning to run.
An unholy yowl pierced the night, unlike any animal sound I'd ever heard, and something slammed against the outside cabin wall. Breathing like I'd run a four-minute mile, I hid just inside the hallway, leading to the bedroom and bath.
"Christ, what's going on!?" Ellie called out, bursting from the bedroom, making me nearly jump out of my skin.
"Back... get back in the bedroom, now!" I yelled back.
"You're scaring the hell out of me, Brian, what's happening!?"
At that very moment, another sound greeted our ears. A horrendous thud hit the side of the cabin, making a cracking sound like wood splintering.
"That! Do what I told you!"
Ellie screamed and a half-second later, I heard the bedroom door slam shut. Any feeling of safety went away instantly. Heavy lumbering footsteps followed, along with breathing coming from, what must have been, a massive chest. Desperately trying not to piss myself again, my head was on a swivel, looking at every window I could see.
A darkness, deeper than the night, moved past the entry door. Moments later, it moved past the living room window, accompanied by low, guttural breathing, that in a way, I could feel inside my body.
My mind flashed back to the only time I'd ever experienced anything like it. At a zoo, with my back to a Bengal tiger enclosure, the great cat had walked up behind me and let out a growl that shook me to my very core.
That same fear renewed deeply inside me. It was the fear of death by an animal uncaring, hunting in the night - unseen, stalking prey. Shaking uncontrollably, I heard the chatter of my teeth, and clamped my mouth closed. Primordial fear had awakened the senses - all of them.
How or why, I was uncertain, but as the moments passed, I instinctively sensed the danger was gone. All went silent, except for the sound of an owl permeating the air and then the disturbing silence again. Pushing up with my legs, I scraped my back along the wall as I stood up.
"El? El, it's me... open the door," I called out softly, finding the door locked.
In a blubbering rush, she smashed into me, bearing hugging.
"It was out there! I heard it, Jason! Fuck, did you hear that sound!?" she blurted out.
Taking a deep breath, I hugged her back, like the love of my life, and nodded my head.
"Yeah, yeah, babe I did, and I saw whatever it was too," I said.
As fast as she'd run into me, she pushed away with equal vigor.
"What!? You saw it!?"
"Kind of... it was like this black mass. I couldn't make out much except..."
"Holy fuck, what!?"
"I saw its eyes," I mumbled out.
"Jesus, God almighty... Brian, we gotta get out of here!"
Pulling her in tightly, I whispered in her ear, "I know... I know, but as scared as I was, I didn't get the feeling we were in danger."
El looked at me in disbelief.
"What? You heard it, Brian, you said you saw it. How can you possibly say that?"
"I'm not sure, but think about it... that thing could have broken through a window. Hell, I have no doubt it could have easily come straight through the door, Ellie. When I first heard something going on, I walked out into the kitchen, naked, and pissed myself, for Christ's sake. Its hand was on the window!"
Ellie's hand went to her mouth in shock, as her eyes widened.
"Brian... what are you saying?" she finally asked.
"Ellie, I think this has all been a warning. Remember what we saw before the attack?"
"Yeah... when we did that circle walk... you mean the stacked logs, like a teepee, right?"
"Exactly, and the matted underbrush. El, I think we walked into a place we should never have been."
"Jesus, I need a drink," she replied, shaking her head.
~
The pinkish glow of dawn breaking greeted our eyes, much to our relief. Ellie hugged me and went off to dress. Already dressed, I went outside, curious if any other signs might have been left by our visitor. Going to the kitchen window first, I touched the print on the pane. Rubbing my fingers together, they felt greasy. I went to smell and quickly backed off. The odor was indescribable and rank.
Out on the deck, I looked over the side and saw two ginormous footprints, embedded into the ground. Whistling, I could only imagine the weight of what made them. It was a quick decision to keep what I'd found to myself.
Not long after my inspection, Ellie appeared ready to leave.
"I got water and a few MREs... we need anything else?" she questioned, hoisting up her backpack, and dropping mine to the deck.
"Nope, I just got to shut things down. Wait here," I replied.
After shutting down the generator, and disconnecting the circuit breaker, I returned to the deck, where Ellie waited. Without knowing why, I took one last look around, after picking up my backpack.
"Ellie... look," I said, pointing off towards the heavy tree line.
Amongst the blue-black-colored pine trees, there was a small sunlit area. As we looked, a massive dark figure moved into the light. Like so many photos and videos, only a rough outline of shape was visible, and it was strikenly huge, hulking.
Placing her hand above her eyes to shield from the rising sun, Ellie gasped.
"Brian... it's... oh my God, it looks like it's waving," she mumbled out, stunned.
"Wave back Ellie," I said, lifting my arm to do the same.
"Brian?"
"Yeah?"
"We are using the logging road, right?"
"We are."
"Good, I'm not cut out to be a mountain woman."
A brief silence followed before she started talking again.
"Brian?"
"What now, El?"
"I was thinking."
"Fine, you were thinking about what exactly?"
"Well... I think maybe we should switch, get away from this whole Bigfoot thing."
"Ah... you may have a point, El."
"How much farther do we have to go?"
"Seriously, you're going to start that?"
"Brian?"
"What now?" I growled, sounding irritated.
"I gotta pee; can we stop?"
"Ellie?"
"Yeah?
"You ever think you talk too much?"
We did stop to pee... but Ellie ignored my question.
The road cut our travel time by at least two hours, as near as I could figure. All the while, I scanned our surroundings for what I hoped I wouldn't see. Apparently, our leaving the area was enough for whatever it was.
Elated, Ellie ran for the truck when we walked into the trailhead parking lot. There was a time when I thought we'd never see the truck again, and I sighed. Catching up to El, she turned and leaned against the rear fender, and winced.
"Your butt?"
A simple nod followed my question.
"Want me to massage it again?"
With an uncertain look, Ellie scanned the lot and surrounding area before answering. "Not here, okay?" she answered, tossing her backpack into the truck bed. "Let's get lout of here, I need a hot bath, and about twelve hours of uninterrupted sleep," she added.
Two days later, we checked out of our motel, and were on our way home.
