The footpath snaked through the woodlands along a pond on my left. Its surface reflects the foliage colors of summer. Lilly pads cover sections of the pond. The opposite bank is far enough to make people and trees appear very small.
When I left my apartment that morning I did not even foresee an encounter with a cute guy, much less a first date a couple of days later. Up to this point in my life, 25 years, I had only dated girls.
One particular breakup had happened recently. By recently I mean March. My relationship with Julie Tench wasn't a bad one. It just didn't feel right to me.
The onset of puberty had seen me having an occasional homosexual fantasy. By high school age, such thoughts had gone away, or so I thought. Instead, they rose up from my subconscious during my college days.
Anyway, I spotted the strikingly handsome dark-haired dude closing the distance between us. We both stopped near enough to see the color of each other's eyes. After a silent second we started off on our separate ways but not without looking over a shoulder.
Less than a half hour later we met again, this time stopping to chat.
Like me, he enjoys walking along this pond on weekends.
"My name is Jeff."
"Good to meet you," I replied, shaking his hand. "I'm Steven."
"What type of work do you do?"
"Mechanical engineer," I replied.
"I'm an architect. I've been doing it for five years since I finished college."
"Where did you go to school?"
"University of Michigan, and you?"
"Same school, been out for three years," I replied.
He talked a little bit about buildings his firm had designed. I found some of them to be interesting designs.
"Are you interested in antique automobiles," I asked.
"Yah, I saw the cars on the common. (They're) a spectacular site."
"I have a book on classic cars."
"You're really into them, aren't you."
"I used to build models as a boy."
"Where did you grow up?"
"Mount Pleasant," I replied.
"Me too," he replied excitedly.
Though we had grown up at different times and opposite sides of town, we had common experiences. We had both played little league baseball. We had some of the same teachers.
As we approached the end of the path he broke off the chat
"I should get going. I have some errands to do. How about coffee tomorrow morning?"
Before I could over think it I said, "yes."
On Sunday morning at 9 I took a seat at a small round table for two and watched the door. Barely a minute later I waved to him as he came inside. He slid into the cushion chair across from me.
We fell into easy conversation about everything and nothing. Jeff turns out to be the youngest of three, He has a sister Michelle, age 31 and a brother Jon, age 29.
"I'm an only child."
Just then his phone alerted him to a text which immediately captured his attention.
"I need to take this.'
Having said that, he read the message silently then returned his phone to his pocket.
"That was my X boyfriend."
Your X? I don't like this revelation.
"What does he want?"
"He wants to talk."
"How long have you guys been broken up?"
"I haven't seen or heard from him in eight months."
"Bad breakup?"
"You can say that."
"I've never been with a guy before. My last relationship had been with a girl named Julie Tench."
"What caused the break up?"
I had not expected to come out to him until that question was put to me.
"I'm gay. I told her that."
"If you don't mind me asking, other than you being gay was it a good relationship?"
"We did a lot together: the Ferris wheel, Scrabble. She got me interested in 'chick flicks'. The funny thing was that I loved going shopping with her. That didn't give a hint about my sexuality."
"My X was very insecure. I was hanging out occasionally with a straight friend. Keith didn't see it that way so he contronted me. I didn't like being accused of cheating. He got bullshit over nothing. Anyway, I told my friend Matt about the fight. Matt said to me that he would've been in my pants in a heartbeat, except for the one detail."
"I take it you and Matt have known each other for a long time."
"Since elementary school," said Jeff.
Responding to a dinner invitation for Friday, I showed up at Jeffrey's apartment carrying a bottle of red wine. The smell of roasted Cornish Hens wafted through the air.
We enjoyed a lesurely meal with conversation and wine. He talked about architectural concepts, cooking recipes, restaurants.
"Cooking is just something I do out of necessity."
"I love to cook."
"You also love your job."
"Structures that I saw as a child made quite an impression. That's when I knew what I wanted to do someday."
"And cooking," I asked.
"I grew up watching cooking shows."
Barely an inch separated us on the sofa as we watched FUBAR on Netflix on a 55-inch Samsung Smart TV.
"I like Arnold in movies."
I nodded then replied that "he's sexy"
"That too."
My hand on his thigh crept toward his lap. He turned his head and placed his hand over mine. My hand inched further then stopped over his zipper.
"You're going to get laid tonight."
His remark was not lost on me.
"Is that a promise," I asked.
As the last episode came to an end his eyes shifted to the telltale bulge in my zipper region. His hands cut my cheeks as he leaned into a tongue kiss.
We shed clothes and inhibitions as we dashed to the bedroom. Lying with our feet at opposite ends of the kingsize bed, we put our mouthes on each other's cock. My tongue swiped his succulent six-inch shaft as my lips slid back and forth. It was a dream come true.
We moved to a new position, one that saw my ass bobbing repeatedly on his lap. A muted 'mmmmmmm' expressed my delight in taking his large cock deep.
We awoke Saturday morning in a room brightned by the morning sun. Wearing just his underwear, my lover sauntered into the kitchen. I could smell the coffee as I remained behind to make the bed. Minutes behind him, I walked nude to the kitchen. He kissed my lips then I poured a coffee which I brought to the table.
"What would you like for nreakfast?"
"Eggs over easy, ham, toast and sex,"
"And sex," he repeated, looking down at his penis.
