I wake beside my sister, who's still sleeping deeply. She needs the rest after yesterday. But I have a Furniture Division to revive.

I slip out quietly and head to my first day as Director.

"IshCom, please send a hearty breakfast to the sitting room. I work today. Also, begin searching for fems to work on the adaptive furniture. Send them directly to the lab. I'll sort them out as we go."

"How many fems, miss?"

"Around thirty. The same number as mems already working."

"Your food is ready, miss."

"Thanks, IshCom. You're a sweety."

I wolf down the food and head for the Furniture lab on Blue. Seven women are waiting for me, looking for a job, but the mems working here are absent. These folks likely haven't had a boss in a long time.

"Well, ladies, I'm Kat, and I'm the new boss here. Do any of you have any experience working on these things aside from being fucked on them? Because I don't."

"Hi, Kat. I'm Fae. I worked here five years."

"Ok, you're our temp foreman. Are you ok with running a herd of newbies?"

"I'll do my best, boss."

"Ok, here is the first job. The mem and fem chairs both have uncomfortable positions for a fem. A position that might be great on BED, but suck in the chair. Anybody disagree? No. Good. Now break into two groups of three to a chair. Fae, stay with me. Now, each group finds one uncomfortable position you agree on and starts thinking about how to make it comfortable. Fae will give you advice and get you tools, materials, or whatever she thinks you need."

"Fae, tell me if you need something you can't get, and I'll see how much pull I have with my sister. Also, what do we need to know to begin working with the chairs?"

"Two important things. First, all chairs have a 'cycle' command with four settings: Start, Next, Back, and Stop. The cycle command works with zero, one, or two people on the chair. In addition, IshCom's technical manual includes 3D images of the chair and lets you zoom in on any part. It includes instructions and how-to videos for each part and how to assemble/disassemble, etc."

"Thanks, Fae, now get to work."

By 1000 hours, the fems are knee-deep in making chairs comfortable while the late-arriving mems stand around gawking. So I gather them into a group to address them. "Gentlemems. I am Kat, your new boss--and I have new rules. First, we have a new foreman, Fae. Fae, wave a hand so these folk can recognize you. If any of you want to be considered for leadership, be here before Fae every day. She was here before 0800. Second, you were all late this morning. Work begins at 0800, and your pay for today has been docked. The pay you lost will go into an incentive fund to reward excellence. I have a labor budget, and I promise every penny of it will end up in a worker's account. So if you want to contribute to someone else's salary, be late for work, take a long lunch, or leave early. Your fellow workers will appreciate your generosity. Finally, this lab will be co-ed. Half the folks sitting in our chairs are fems, so as long as I'm boss, half the folks making the chairs will be fems. Get used to it. The mem's club here is dead."

I'm about to organize the mems when a group of fems appears, looking frazzled. "Is this the furniture lab? We got lost and ended up in administration."

I address them, "You're in the right place. Please join the mems here. I'm Kat, your new boss. You're all hired at standard wages starting now. Check with IshCom about pay rates, start time, and the incentive fund. If you're a poor fit for the work, someone will see it--you, me--someone. The result will be that you'll find a new place to work, and I'll find a new worker.

"My immediate goal is to modify existing chair models so that each position is comfortable for both the fem and the mem. That is what is happening behind me. I want three mems added to each team. Fem chair team, each of you come pick a mem and take him back to your chair. Mem chair team, please do the same.

"Regarding new designs, I would like to have a chair specifically for the rotunda. Not every woman arrives in the rotunda fully ready to be a stranger's Sacred She, and I want us to create a chair that supports the Harlot. Hold that thought."

"IshCom, is the High Priestess available?"

"Good morning, Katrina. How may I serve?"

"Mary, Becca appointed me head of the Adaptive Furniture Lab, and I want a new chair for the harlots waiting in the rotunda. My team would need working space, access to the rotunda, and contact with a rotunda system engineer. Is this possible?"

"That is likely, but this falls under the High Priest's responsibilities. Please have your team leader contact him. I'll let him know someone will be reaching out. I expect he'll help. On another subject, I do hope to see you in the rotunda soon, Katrina Stone. You are a High Priestess and handmaiden after all."

"I understand, High Priestess. I will show up. Becca reminds me as well. Thanks again, High One. I look forward to working with the temple."

"Fems, those with the most time in the rotunda, raise your hands. Please decide which four of you will take on this project, then leave this group and begin work. Please contact High Priest Cree when you are prepared to discuss your requirements."

Returning from lunch, I'm met by giggles, laughter, and the sounds of pure, raw sex. My staff is testing the chairs, and while it may be obvious that what is fun for the hen might not be for the rooster, and vice versa, apparently using the chairs to experience the difficulties and find new positions pleasurable to both was both rewarding and hilarious. The only dispute is over whose turn is next. My staff believes the best way to test Fuck furniture is to fuck on it. I ordered another set of chairs.

"Fae, who handled production?"

"The team leader was Arman. He is with that group," Fae says, pointing.

"Let him know I'd like to see him. I'd rather not shout."

"I'll tell him. Be right back." She is, bringing Arman with her. He starts talking before I can get a word in.

"Sorry I was late, Boss. It won't happen again."

"Good, because I'd hate to lose my production team leader before we've started production. I want to know how long it will take to get the production line up and working again."

After a moment's thought, Arman estimates a crew of six could have the basic production line operational in two weeks for a single model. After that, it would take two days to change over for a different model. I tell him to pick his team, even gendered, and start work.

In the back, I find the harlot chair group with a medchair and a spa chair, and an engineer from the temple taking parts from both chairs to add to a third chair. The engineer tells me they added the lab address to the rotunda's port, allowing the team to work here while maintaining direct access to the rotunda, and mentions that he was the engineer assigned to integrate the chair into the existing system.

I hit send on the day's report and sat back.

Behind me, the harlot chair was further along than I'd expected. The temple engineer had grafted the MedSpa components cleanly into the frame, and you could already see what it was going to be. Practical. Supportive. Not a fuck-stool.

The voice of High Priestess Mary from this morning came back to me. I do hope to see you in the rotunda soon, Katrina Stone.

"Becca, if I wanted to get on the rotunda roster, who do I talk to?"

A beat, then my sister's voice. "About time. Rose coordinates the schedule. Tell her you're free evenings and she'll tell you when you're needed and how it works."

I'd call Rose tomorrow. Tonight I was done.

I looked back at the chair. MedSpa tech and temple engineering sit side by side, doing something neither was designed to do alone.

Not a bad first day.
