We- Dima, Renee, Dana, and I had scouted spots above the Dachau the morning after we arrived, such that the three of us could sit in modest defilement, from eight hundred to twelve hundred yards, with me at the center point of a giant diamond, with the house the center point or base. Helena and the other women, and our children were two miles away in a root cellar, deep in the forest that was some seven hundred years old.
Dima's soldiers in camo were arrayed from two hundred yards to five hundred yards, in arcs, all experienced men and women. He somehow had found these ancient heavy machine guns, Soviet DShK 1938s machine guns, which looked to be almost six feet long, twenty of them.
I heard a thump-thump first, then a jet engine whine, and then an enormous helicopter appeared some two hundred yards east of the Dachau, hovering.
Two shots rang out from Renee, and the windshield splintered but did not break, but in a millisecond two of the machine guns hit the fuselage, then the engines below the rotors, and it blew up. The sound of a heavy truck was next, coming into the clearing, a huge wheeled cab-over troop carrier; my shot pierced the windshield, taking the driver out. His foot remained on the accelerator, and the truck headed forward.
More machine gun fire raked the vehicle, including its tires, the radiator, and engine as it ground to a halt. Troops fled from the rear and were decimated. There were more in the vehicle behind, and their plan must have been to attack the Dachau and take hostages.
Then it was Dima and Uri in the Li-2 flying in, guns blazing into the trees, with three passes. All weapons had ceased, and the plane lumbered away to the East. It seems there was another landing strip.
Nonetheless, we waited in place. Another helicopter approached, and when it appeared, its lethality was apparent: short little wings with missiles hanging underneath, and many machine gun barrels. Their communications seemed not to have been in use, as they seemed to think the battle had gone their way. Immediately Dana's weapon boomed, then Renee's, and I followed. Dana's was much different than ours, and the upper windshield blew out. It plunged to the ground, and it was obliterated by the machine guns. It did not catch on fire, but nobody emerged.
Ten minutes later, a Mercedes had appeared behind the troop carriers and was surrounded by our troops. The driver and its passengers left the vehicle, weapons were removed, and they moved them forward into the area surrounding Dachau. It was Maxim Vorobiev, Daria, Anastacia, the driver, and two bodyguards. Nobody moved except me; I stood and went my way down the hill and into the courtyard. I stopped ten feet away, my rifle in both my hands. I ejected the clip, pulled another from my pocket, put it in place, and pulled the bolt up and back and forward again, and said to the troops, "Take him and the bodyguards, and secure them for Dima; these two are for me."
Neither of them were smirking now.
"On your knees. Now!"
As they tried, Anastacia fainted.
I said, "You came to butcher my family; you will die here and now. I will wake her, and end her too."
Before she could respond, two shots rang out, hitting her chest, and two weapons cocked, and her daughter was dead.
Renee said, "Not the right weapons for vermin, but they worked."
I walked up to Daria's body, spat on it, and screamed, "Nobody comes for my family! Let it be known what will happen when you do."
Dima was beside me, then I screamed again, "There are traitors in Kytlym; tell them to run. You all know who they might be; tell them to run, but know I will find them!"
Dima looked at me as if I had sprouted horns.
I said, "There are Vikings in my heritage. There will be times when you travel that they might come for us; when they do, they must know what will happen when they do."
"Of course, Leanushka, I love you, and every day it expands."
It took several days for the wreckage and bodies to be disposed of. There is an ancient quarry with deep wells nearby that dealt with the bodies, and the wreckage was cut up with a mobile wrecker that cut up the vehicles and smashed them. The helicopters took longer, as welders cut them up into large segments and they were carted off, but not to Kytlym, but elsewhere upon our property.
An OBGYN appeared and examined me, and we heard our child's heartbeat, which was an incredible event as both moms were with us.
News of Ukraine's military success filtered to us from Dima's sources as my sisters and brother arrived. The threat of reprisals lessened, as Ukraine utilized drones to destroy much of Russia's western refineries and export terminals, over twenty of the refineries.
We were lying in bed, and Dima asked me, "What do you know of Bill Gates, Leanushka?"
I sighed, "He's a disgusting pig. When Dana was raped by my lunatic birth father, the person who saved her was a teammate of Steve, Teddy Benedict, who had a family history with Gates' father and worked for him briefly. All this bullshit about him and his ex-wife, and her so-called shock at the discovery of his affairs is just that; she knew and was just more discreet than him. He's fucked hundreds of women in and about Seattle. Dana knows his sisters, and Melissa was just more discreet. There are still 'old Seattle families' that regard him and his father with great disdain, if not anger, as his influence has destroyed their old neighborhoods."
"Leanushka, he was honey trapped by two FSB women, one a so-called physicist and the other a chess player; they have videos of him. With women he worked with, married women, three or four. This Epstein, the dead one, was murdered, but he was close to Putin and sent girls to Putin. What do you say, little girls..."
I said, "Pedophile?"
"Can you imagine our daughters?"
"I pledge to you that I will not let that happen, Dimuschka; I will protect them with my life, as long as I breathe."
"Leanushka, I would like to see Canada and its forests. Do they grow wheat there too?"
"Not in their province, but the adjacent province of Alberta has some of the best wheat in the world. They use wheat to feed their cattle, and it is much better than corn-fed beef; you would love it. There are huge forests in the Yukon Territory, white spruce, lodgepole pine, and balsam poplar, which the latter is very fast in terms of regrowth when you replant. They are used in the southeast of the U. S. for that reason. In Washington State on the west side, there are all kinds of harvestable trees: Douglas Fir, Western Red Cedar, Hemlock, White Fir, Coastal Spruce, and Alder. There are byproducts too; I mentioned corn whiskey, you remember, well, the farmer Steve bought from has an old sawmill, and he compresses the sawdust into pellets that people use with efficient wood stoves."
"Is it cold there, Leanushka?"
"Not like you know of cold, no. But, from October to April it's gray and overcast, sometimes with drizzle or fog; other years the meteorologists call it like living in a river of rain, hard rain with floods. The storms come from the southwest, underneath the Olympic Mountains, and warm winds. Then when the conditions are bad, that river of rain squats over Western Washington, and huge cold winds, sometimes as fierce as ninety miles an hour arrive from the Aleutian Islands. We get Snow and floating bridges sink, twice in the last thirty years.
In Eastern Washington there are huge Ponderosa pine trees, which is similar to what Tom and Erin have. Probably the best wheat in America is grown in Eastern Washington too."
He said, "I fear for our children, our daughters, and our new child. My visa passport to Canada is good, as are our children's. My money is offshore from here; we can fly from here to Ekaterinburg to Belgrade, then charter a Boeing business Jet, the 787, to Vancouver. We have a large home in Ekaterinburg, we will ferry there in the LI-2, three trips should to it, you, Helena, Anna, Olga and Marie, body guards, your moms and cooks, etc. will be on the first trip.
"Darling, can I text Erin that we're coming?"
He thought, then said, "Use the Google pictures app on your phone to take a picture of the message. Then text her to join the app for Leannapics2026."
Finding a piece of paper and pen took the longest part of that, and I did it. It was nine a. m. in Kytlym and ten at night in Kelowna.
Thought bubbles, 'No fucking way'... 'yes fucking way twin, I'm with child as they say' ... 'omfg leanna b or g' ... 'do not know b surprised'
Thought bubbles: 'r u visiting, please say no' ... 'moving sweetie' ... 'weeping w/joy' ... 'me 2'
We were aboard the ancient DC-7, and Dima and Uri did the preflight. Olga and Anna were on either side of me. Marie was drawing a picture of a horse for Helena. A woman walked down the aisle, stopped next to me, and said, "My name is Elizaveta Ivanova. I am a Doctor, what you say, OBYGYN. Can I feel your legs, please, while you are standing up?"
I did, and instantly knew she was totally gay. I reached up, touched her collarbone, and said quietly, "Touch me wrong, queer girl, and I will break your neck, do you understand me?"
She nodded yes, fear pulsating from her face. "I am a worthless sinner, Elizaveta, and these girls are my children now, but I am a believer, and I love Dima. I've never cheated on anyone, nor will I ever. You will fly to Canada with us, and we will figure out a way for you to be a doctor there, okay? Do we understand each other?"
She crossed herself three times and bowed her head, then said, "You are the shooter. I thought it was a lie; please don't kill me."
"I have no reason, and you will have a great and productive life in Canada; there are beautiful queer women there; you will find someone."
She said, "Blessings upon thee, Mistress. It is very hard to look at you without reacting to your beauty and your ferocity. You would be a wonderful czarina. May I check your legs?"
She did, stood up, and said, "You are fine, but hydrate and walk in the cabin; of course I will check on you as well. Please excuse me, Mistress."
The engines were all running, and Helena had brought noise-canceling headphones.
I was asleep almost immediately after the plane took off.
"Hey Mom, wake up."
It was Renee.
"We're about to land, so buckle up."
There was a bus waiting for us on the tarmac, and it took us to a hangar where a Boeing 757 was waiting. It was not an airliner per se. There was a room in the back with a double bed. I knew my girls were exhausted. I brought them with me, crawled into the bed, sat against the headboard, and patted my legs. They were all over me, and before we left the ground, they were asleep. Dana came in and said, "Do you need anything?"
I said, "I love you so much, Mom, you know that, right?"
She nodded and said, "Yes. I know you do not understand my love for my husband, but know this, I have never known such kindness and love. Leanna, he is dying; he has this thing called a blastoma in his brain. You remember that announcer on KOMO? Her last name was Goertsen, if I remember correctly. It's that he's had one surgery, but they cannot get all of it, and he might have a year or even less. It's kind of like Alzheimer's in effect; he has forgotten me. His daughters are heartbroken. He's in a care facility now."
I was crying so hard; I felt horrible about my disdain for him, and what she was going through. "I'm so sorry, Mama. We are never coming back here, and we're going to look for property near Kelowna, near Erin; it is too dangerous here for us. Please bring my sisters and brother there; I'm going to extend the same invitation to Renee and her husband."
"She's divorcing him; she can explain, but it's ugly. Can I get you anything?"
"Water, apple juice, a sandwich, maybe some pickles."
"You hate pickles."
I shrugged, "I like them now."
The sandwich was perfect, and I asked for more pickles, but I fell asleep again.
I awoke, and the girls were asleep. I slid out from my three personal heaters, went forward, and Dima was talking with Renee and Dana. I put my hand on his shoulder, and he looked up, and I pointed to the bathroom.
I returned and sat on his lap, looked at Renee, and said, "We are here for you, Mom. Please come be with us; we will never return. Are you okay, Mom?"
"Getting there, it was like Steve redux, but I kicked his ass out." I have no idea who she'd told about that; Dana, for example, I'd not told Dima, so I let it sit, just nodding yes.
We arrived in Vancouver, deplaned, and went through customs.
