Delise felt Morgan's and Chase's hesitation and uncertainty as they tip-toed around the subject of her baby at breakfast.

Chase cleared her throat. "How do you feel Princess? Did you sleep well?"

"I feel pretty good. What about you two?"

"I feel alright," Chase answered.

"I'm good, Missus. What are you doing today?"

"Nothing much. Resting before tonight's party, but before that I guess I'll make some calls and do some research online. This time I'll take it more seriously," Delise chuckled as she finished.

"Do you still have reservations about having a baby?"

"If I do, I'd better woman-up and put them behind me. This is happening," Delise smiled.

Chase let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. She got up and kissed Delise's mouth gently. "That's wonderful news, Princess."

"Will you both come with me to my appointment Monday?"

"Of course," Morgan said.

The threesome found Willa and Fancey's pajama party very lively with chatter when they arrived. The party music was turned down low. Guests were huddled in small groups, chatting animatedly as some of them read aloud from their phones.

Morgan and Chase wore simple shirts and slacks under smoking jackets. Morgan's was cranberry, green and gold Paisley. Chase's was velveteen, its emerald green color created a dramatic contrast with her porcelain skin and black hair. Delise presented a pretty picture in a creamy off- white feather trimmed satin robe over a short nightgown and low heeled mules topped with a feather pom-pom. She wore her hair more kinky, less curled, and kept her makeup nude with a warmed peach mouth. Her jewelry was a simple diamond pendant and stud earrings. Her nails were her favored nude, her perfume soft, powdery and sweet.

"Oh, they're here!" Mae exclaimed. "Start again, Martha! You have the full version. Read from the top!"

Chase accepted drinks for Morgan and herself, and asked for water or juice for Delise.

"What's this?" Morgan asked, taking stock of the room before venturing in further.

"We're famous!" Mira said.

Even Delise, who wasn't very observant, noticed that while some of the women smiled and chatted on, others looked displeased and a few looked panicked.

In a city like Washington, DC, where people of every economic level and nationality co-existed, and parts of Maryland and Virginia were a stone's throw away, there were a myriad of newspapers. There were national newspapers which also published sections focused on a particular local location on certain days, local newspapers, gay newspapers, others that covered every aspect of the area. Some had an online presence. Then there were the online influencers, the personal social media and the like. Versions, some abridged, of a small column had been circulated in print and online. Martha read it aloud.

In these modern times, there exists a small, exclusive group of ladies who go to tea wearing hats and gloves. While hat wearers are by no means unique, there is only one like the subject of this post. Led by Miss Olivia Waverly, the group practices quaint, but charming customs. This unique society of lesbian women are all butch/femme couples who value manners and etiquette above all else. They believe in reciprocating invitations and so you can imagine the social life they enjoy among themselves. They eschew evite invitations and its conveniences for the original, printed versions, personalized, and creative, of course. Theirs is a world of themed parties, party favors, stationery and social calendars. You may have seen them out and about town as they regularly attend openings and showings. One of them has connections in the fashion world and takes her ladies on shopping trips. Some of you in the world of fashion may have an idea of whom I speak. She's has superlative fashion sense and wears a dramatic style very well.

Miss Olivia, as she is referred to out of respect, is not unknown in the DC area. She has many connections, regularly makes substantial donations to charities, and aids anyone in need. This dear lady has recently fallen ill and her trusted friend, Belle Lipton, has assumed the leadership role of this particularly small society. Yet, few know about them as they keep to themselves. Its bad form to out anyone, but I feel it was necessary to name the two ladies because they deserve to be known. Miss Belle, as she is now known among her following, is as much a philanthropist as her good friend, and she is not the only one.

I won't name names, as Miss Belle's people are very private. It pleases me to tell you that among those nominated for The Olivia Waverly Annual Society Awards are a brilliant lawyer in a top law firm in DC. She is close friends with a very special couple, a very personable multi-millionaire and her exquisite partner. Among others nominated are doctors, business owners. If only I could tell more, but these are just some of Miss Belle's following. You would no doubt recognize the names of those whose families are well known in this town. After all, Miss Olivia is not the only well connected lady in that particularly quaint society of social mavens and hostesses, socialites and yes, even there, social climbers.

Delise sipped her juice and watched the more astute women drift away to another room to confer together in hushed tones. Mae went about the room, like Belle used to do, making everyone get up and mingle. Delise decided it was no use sitting and brooding over what, if anything, this column meant. She didn't want to be famous, or worse, infamous. She wanted normalcy. Her normal. She found it with Susan, Sandra, Savannah, Analise and yes, even Cadence. She found it when the dancing began and Sandra led her to the dance floor.

Strangely, she felt relieved when Quinn arrived. Quinn didn't mingle long, but was drawn away into discussions about the column. For some reason, Delise felt reassured that Quinn could somehow help - if help was needed.

Susan mused, "Why are we all hanging out here? We may be able to contribute to the discussion and help figure out what to do."

"Its possible," Delise agreed. "But anything I might think of, I can tell Morgan."

"But there's synergy in a group discussion. Something one person says may give someone else an idea."

"You're right," Sandra said.

"Then let's go in."

"You go," Analise said. "You won't get any push back."

Susan half laughed, half stared in disbelief. "There's a time for role play and a time to get real. I didn't realize you and Andi were into that. Your relationship isn't like that, is it?" Susan asked of Cadence.

"No," she answered.

"Then why aren't you in there?"

"When in Rome?" Cadence shrugged.

"Savannah?" Susan asked.

"Its not so black and white. Its sometimes. And now is not the time. Its more 'when in Rome' on Dale's part."

"This is a very important problem. I'm going in. Sandra?"

"I feel I should sit it out, Susan."

Susan nodded and left.

"I think its one of the new people. They don't really understand us," Roma said, looking at Alex's new woman, Lauren."

"We've known Lauren a long time, through Sersha," Mae said.

"Let's not start making accusations," Belle said. "Though disguised as appreciation, that column is meant to destroy us, have no doubt."

"I'm so sorry, Lauren," Roma apologized.

After a while, Susan returned and Somerfield conferred with Belle and Madelyn. The party resumed, people mingled, couples danced. Delise thought Susan looked subdued and couldn't catch her eye as she danced with Nancy. Later, she caught Susan alone just beyond the kitchen.

"Are you alright?"

Susan shook her head no. "Please don't make me talk about it now. Tomorrow. I'll call you."

"Okay. Let's get you a drink."

"Why aren't you drinking tonight?"

"Medication. It reacts badly with alcohol," Delise lied smoothly.

Susan's call came mid morning.

"How do you do it, Delise?"

"Do what?" she answered, knowing full well what Susan was talking about.

Susan laughed, but without humor. "I've been shown my place and put in it - all without words."

"What happened?"

"I would have cussed them all out, if it hadn't been for Morgan and Chase. They really are very smart, very shrewd, Delise."

Susan took a breath, let it out in a huff. "What happened? They let me talk. They even responded to some of my good points. They were so polite. So maddening indulgent. And Nancy didn't stand up for me."

"She bought into their behavior?"

"She was so condescending after. I almost cried when she did that. I think she liked it. Every bit of it. I stayed after they clearly dismissed me."

"Dismissed?"

"You heard it right. I was dismissed. I stayed out of spite."

"But Nancy didn't have anything to say to you for doing that?"

"What would she have to say?"

"Sorry, I'm just thinking along the lines of what Morgan would have done. Nancy isn't like that."

"No, she's not. Well, she wasn't. I wonder if something's rubbed off on her from all the calls to Morgan."

"What calls?"

"It started with her talking to Chase about Perla's letter. Then she's been talking to Morgan. I thought it was more of the same. Delise! I don't know why Nancy talks to Morgan so often."

"So what are you going to do?"

"I don't know. Well, I guess I know that next time we're in Rome, I'll know to do as they do."

"How does that make you feel?"

"I want to cry just thinking about it. How do you do it?"

"Its in my nature, Susan. I like it that way."

"Is there anything I can do to help myself maybe accept it? If I can ever accept it."

"Talk to Nancy. Tell her how you're struggling about that. Make her listen."

"Alright, thank you."

Chase and Delise enjoyed a light lunch in the conservatory. Delise in a simple knit orange-red sheath with three-quarter length sleeves, with an understated sapphire pendant, matching earrings, and brown pumps. Her kinky curls were loose, framing her pretty features which were lightly enhanced with warm tones and neutral lip gloss. Chase wore a navy gabardine vest and slacks over a white silk shirt.

"We'll have to eat without Morgan. Ross finally called her and she's on her way there now."

"I wonder why Ross has been avoiding her. I know they're not as close as they used to be, but our old crowd used to rely on Morgan."

"Things change, Princess. I hope Ondine is getting better. After Arte... elected to leave this world, I just don't want to see anyone else take that final step. When we go, its for eternity. There is no do over. I hope she can hang in there, to find something worth living for."

"She didn't want to work, I think," Delise said. "She was always comparing our lives as if it was some kind of competition. I think she felt embarrassed by not being able to keep up with Miss Belle's people."

"Most people who have to work make the best of it and move on. Anyway, Princess, I didn't mean to dwell on other people's problems. I want to let you know I'm going to get back into the scene."

Chase paused, saw that she had Delise's attention, and continued when Delise began to frown. "I love you Princess. That won't change. I love Morgan, too. You know this. I'm not finding new romantic partners. I'm not breaking us up. But you should understand that I need to play. Morgan won't play and you won't be able to for a long while."

"I get it," Delise assured her. "I may not like it but I do understand."

"I won't be going out too much. In fact, after that dubious publicity with the column, I'm working here at home most of the time. I'll play here, in the basement. You can watch whenever you want. Just give me a heads up first. I'm sure Morgan will want to know, too."

"Do I know your play partners?"

"You do. Every one."

Delise nodded. "Then that's okay."

"You won't see them. Unless you see them arriving and leaving. We'll use the west door."

"Won't they need to stay overnight?"

"Probably. I'll arrange for breakfast for them."

"Won't you give them dinner sometimes, too?"

"Morgan asked the same. If its alright with you, yes. It won't be often. Not even every time they come to play."

"That's poor hospitality when they have to make a long drive round trip."

"Next thing you'll say is assign them rooms and give them the run of the house," Chase joked, laughing.

Delise grinned when she said, "No."

"So, Princess, after we eat, would you like to walk down to the garden cottage with me?"

"What's down there?" Delise asked. She completely missed Chase's overture.

Chase gazed at Delise, suppressed a smile. "Oh, nothing. Its just exercise."

Chase slowed her steps as she walked so Delise could keep up with her at a comfortable pace.

"I didn't want to talk where the staff might hear us. Somerfield made Simone a body slave." Chase waited to see if Delise understood.

"Oh. So that's more than just a submissive? How exactly?"

"A body slave has no choices how, when or where they are taken. Its free use. And they have to do anything their owner tells them to do. Anything. Do you understand?"

"I think I do, yes."

"A slave can be lent out, or even permanently given away."

"Oh."

"I'm telling you this so that you will understand and not be too shocked when you see it."

"I see. Thank you."

A beat later, Delise asked, "Do you intend to make me a slave?"

Chase almost smiled. "I think you are, already, in here." She lightly tapped Delise's temple.

Delise gasped. Chase did smile then.

"I think, Princess, you would submit to that quickly."

Chase took a deep breath. "But Morgan would never allow it."

"I thought you said we couldn't play... umph!!" Delise hadn't seen the ball gag coming.

"No, but we can still use the things that turn you on. Make sure you let me know if you have trouble breathing. Seriously, Princess, don't jeopardize the baby."

Chase had fitted the gag loosely on purpose, so Delise had little trouble being understood. "If I am pregnant. Those over the counter tests are not always right."

Chase moved in close to Delise's face and said, "I can't wait for you to get to the pregnant horny stage," and rolled one of Delise's nipples.

Chase ran her hands over Delise's body, squeezing, slapping, delving.

"You're already horny right now," Chase said, slapped Delise's pussy and held up her fingers for Delise to see her own lubrication.

At Ross' apartment, she and Morgan stepped away from Ondine for a private conversation.

"How are you?" Morgan asked right away as she took a seat in the den.

Ross, who seemed even thinner than her normal trim weight, ran a hand through her black curls and glanced at Morgan, but glanced away again quickly.

"Don't you mean to ask after Dina?"

"No, you. I can tell you're worn down. What can I do for you? What do you need?"

Ross shook her head. "Nothing. I wanted her to talk to someone, but she says she doesn't need that. She won't even discuss what happened with friends. She seems fine, but I don't know if she can go to work, even a part time job. I think it would be best to get back to a normal life."

"Look at me."

Ross sighed wearily. "What?" she asked with emphasis. "What are you going to tell me that I don't already know? That I wasn't paying attention to her? Didn't see what was happening?"

"Is she really alright now?"

Ross nodded. "She is. Surprisingly so. She's handling everything so well. Too well. She went grocery shopping, cooked, cleaned, went to the cleaners. Just like before. How was I suppose to know..." Ross trailed off.

Morgan reached to squeeze Ross' hand.

"I think you need to talk to a therapist. At least for a little while."

"Would you believe that I wasn't like this when Dale and Savannah visited? Why am I a mess when its you?"

"You know the truth, but you don't want to admit it," Morgan said quietly.

Ross locked gazes with Morgan, nodded. "She told me up front she wanted me because I earned more than you and could give her what she wanted."

Ross snorted derisively. "It galled her when you came into an inheritance. After that, she tried to live the life she wanted, but she couldn't maintain it. I know she's going to leave me as soon as she finds a sugar daddy."

"What will you do?"

"Stick by her until she finds one, until she's happy again. I love her. She may relapse and I couldn't live with myself if that happened. So I'll be here for her."

"Promise me you'll get help, Ross. For yourself."

"I promise."

Morgan had a brief chat with Ondine, but was concerned at how detached she was.

"Ondine?" she asked gently. "Are you listening?"

"Yes, Morgan, but don't worry. I know what I'm going to do. I'll be alright."

Morgan looked sharply at Ross, who seemed to have heard, but didn't seem as concerned.

Susan finished her side of the discussion with her partner Nancy, and took a sip of coffee.

Nancy nodded and began slowly.

"What I hear you saying is that you felt demeaned by the way you were treated and that in your eyes, I have bought into doing things the ways Miss Belle's people do. At least when I'm around them."

"Yes. It was hurtful because its the way chauvinist men treat women. For you to join with them in doing the very thing that women have fought hard to end, felt like a stab in the back."

"I never want to make you feel that way, Susan. Do you believe me?"

"Yes, I don't think you realized what you were doing?"

"Come here, then."

Susan went into Nancy's outstretched arms and let herself be pulled in for a kiss from Nancy's full, v-shaped mouth. Susan's lips parted without hesitation for the tongue that rolled slowly, filling her mouth, so that she could only receive and not return the favor. It took Susan some time to realize Nancy held her more tightly than usual, but she let it be. Nancy pulled back, but just enough to suck and lick along Susan's jawline, to her ear, her neck.

"Let's go upstairs," Susan whispered.

"Shh! Let me enjoy you this way now."

Susan's eyes drifted close while she concentrated on the sensation of that rolling tongue along her collarbone. She raised her hands to help pull her top up, but Nancy slapped them away. Susan willingly surrendered to Nancy's lovemaking, her long frame sprawled on their sofa. Nancy played her tongue across Susan's clit while she inserted three fingers.

"Let's go upstairs. I want to try something," Nancy suddenly withdrew her lovely fingers and tongue.

"No," Susan moaned.

Nancy moved up until they were face to face. Her expression was both intense and wild.

"I want to try something," Nancy said. "Up!"

Susan sprawled across their bed, feeling well fucked. Her vulva were swollen and numb, her clit large and overly sensitive.

"No more," she murmured. Nothing seemed to want to work. Her muscles were so relaxed she didn't even try to sit up or roll over.

"Just let me finish," Nancy panted.

"How are you feeling anything?" Susan murmured.

"Like this," Nancy said as she knelt up and removed the strap.

Susan felt a familiar satisfaction to be in one of their go-to positions, as Nancy pushed her thigh between Susan's legs. A smile lit up her girl-next-door features as she remember just how well she'd been prepared to take the dildo while Nancy rode it, instead of using it by hand.

"Suze? You okay?"

"Yes," she said, her eyes still closed as she enjoyed her partners body moving against her own.

"I think I've figured out a possible solution for you, babe."

Susan opened her eyes and turned her head toward Nancy.

"Yes, since I'm doing the 'when in Rome, do as they do' thing, you might feel more at ease if you do the same."

"No, I don't want to be one of the guys. Butches. Boi's. Whatever they are."

Nancy smiled down at Susan and kissed her slowly. When she reluctantly released Susan's lips she chuckled. "No, silly. You'll be femme. Like your friend. You've already had some practice thanking Daddy Lou for your dress."

Susan's eyes went wide in surprise. She felt betrayed and confused. She wordlessly watched Nancy put the strap on again, as if from outside herself. She heard herself protest.

"No, Nancy, I'm done. I..."

"Shh... be a good girl and lie still."

Delise wore a redesign of one of her favorite dresses. The crepe de chine swing style dress with the large bow across the back was restyled with in a warm knit fabric, with long sleeves and a velvet bow. She watched as Morgan and Chase threw their arms around one another in a fierce hug. Morgan planted a smooch on Chase's cheek, which Chase returned just as intensely. They kept an arm around each other while they turned back to Delise. They each wore a wide grin.

"How do you feel?" Morgan asked, slowly disentangling herself from Chase.

She approached Delise carefully, tenderly held her shoulders and pressed their lips together. Delise could feel herself smiling as much as they were.

"Pregnant," she said simply. Then she laughed. "Just joking but now its real, isn't it?"

"Yes, Missus. It is."

"Its wonderful, Princess. Seven weeks!" Chase kissed Delise's cheek softly and whispered, "Thank you."

"Of course," Delise smiled.

The nurse knocked on the door and came in with Delise's care package and ultrasound photo.

Chase settled Delise comfortably in the back seat, then got in the passenger seat and turned so that they were all looking at one another.

"I can't stop smiling," Morgan said. "This calls for a celebration. Five more weeks until we share our good news publicly. So, who can we tell now and trust it won't go further?"

"Liam."

"Dale and Savannah."

"Susan," Delise said. "I've been dying to tell her, but was glad I didn't when I wasn't sure."

"So just those four."

"Let's call them to have lunch with us."

"Susan's at work, but... oh... its her now."

Attuned to Chase's voice, Delise had difficulty shutting out Chase's phone conversations. She finally had to use Morgan's earbuds so she could concentrate.

"I'm sorry, I know you're at work..."

Susan interrupted. "I'm home today."

"Oh, are you alright?"

"I suppose so. I had a warm soak in epsom salts and I just took another aspirin."

"What happened?"

"Nancy," Susan said. Delise could hear the amusement in her voice. "She um... tried something new yesterday and I'm aching a little."

"Did you like it?"

"I did. I guess its a bit different from taking it by hand."

"Taking what?"

Susan chuckled. "Nancy used a strap."

"Oh, Susan! Did you enjoy it?"

"I did. Then. Now, I'm not so sure."

"It took me a while to get used to it too."

Delise did not see Morgan and Chase exchange a puzzled glance, and then a smirk.

"Excuse me, Morgan interrupted. "Missus? Lunch?"

"Yes, Morgan."

"Susan, are you up to lunching with us? We can swing by and pick you up."

Delise cleared it with Morgan, "Can we pick Susan up?"

"Yes, of course," Morgan replied.

"I'd love to, what should I wear?"

"Casual chic."

"Can Nancy join us?" Chase interjected.

Delise relayed the answer. "She's at work, but Susan is going to call her."

10

Morgan stood up and raised a glass when the champagne was served. She smiled all around at their guests.

Savvy gasped. "Oh! She's going to tell us she's put us in her will."

Morgan chuckled. "Dear friends, we three are so happy to share our wonderful news with you, our closest friends. We're having a baby."

Savannah was the first to respond. "So, when you say 'we'..."

"Don't start, Savvy," Delise grinned.

"I want to know. 'Cause that would mean the three of you and I can't see it."

"Who's the daddy?" Savannah went on, starting straight at Liam.

"That's enough," Dale said without raising her voice. Savannah made a gesture of zipping her lips.

"Delise is carrying my niece or nephew," Chase told Savannah. "We're all very ecstatic about it. We would appreciate it if you could keep it to yourselves for a while."

"That's what was wrong with me at the tea, Dale," Delise explained. "It was too soon to share the news. In fact, I didn't even know myself."

Congratulations were given all around, amid hugs and kisses, then the group settled to their meal.

Savannah occasionally quipped things like, "So if Delise is a princess, would that make the baby a lord or a lady?"

11

Sandra's smile turned her looks hot and sultry. Delise drank in the sight of Sandra in her red off-the-shoulder, cinched waist cocktail dress with a pencil skirt. Her shapely legs and sexy heels enchanted Delise, but it was her luscious facial features that always made Delise want to kiss her.

Morgan elbowed Chase and they both watched Delise and shared a discreet smile. Chase leaned in toward Morgan and whispered.

"When are we going to move forward with that?"

Morgan said quietly, "What? You leaving me for the hot babe?"

"Yes!" Chase decisively. The twinkle in her eye let Morgan know she was joking.

"You'll have to get in line behind Delise."

Sandra's attention was on the exceptionally large bouquet of mixed flowers. The attached card, signed by Liam, explained each of the flowers' association with pregnancy and motherhood. Delise looked up from the card still laying by the flowers, having felt someone's gaze on her.

"What are you two huddled up, talking about?" Delise called over to her partners playfully.

She watched them both escort Sandra down the hall to the lounge. Both wore sweaters over shirts and ties, although Delise had questioned the need to wear ties for a casual dinner with friends. Especially when they all dressed casually for weekday meals at home.

She still felt eyes on her, so she turned to Andi, a soft smile on her pretty face. Her own bronze silk dress had an empire waist, cinched in the front under the bust, but flared swing style in the back. She wore simple pearls and kitten heels, her go-to updo and minimal makeup. She watched Andi's eyes catalog and assess her appearance.

"You're lovely, Delise, as always."

"Thank you, Andi. You're dapper tonight, if I can use that word."

"You can."

Andi stood at ease near the beautiful peonies, hibiscus and lotuses, among others. Her suit was elegant in its simplicity, featuring satin lapels, breast pocket and tie, all in a warm brown that enlivened her almond skin tone.

"Shall we join them?" Andi asked.

Delise nodded and took the arm Andi proffered.

"You feel different," Andi said. "If I'm honest, and looking from a clinical viewpoint, you look a bit... bloated."

Delise glanced up at her, nodded slightly. "I am. And since I know your background, I feel comfortable telling you I've been battling a little constipation. I have something from my doctor for it."

Delise was conscious of Andi's gaze as everyone else enjoyed a cocktail while she sipped a ginger ale. Andi opened her mouth to speak.

Chase asked how Cadence's card party went.

"It was fun," Sandra said.

"That's because you won every game no matter what you played or where you sat," Delise chuckled.

"What did you play?" Chase asked as soon as Andi started again. This time, she had cut her off.

"Uno No Mercy."

Chase chuckled. "I thought you guys would at least play spades or canasta."

"Some did. The rest of us who didn't know how played Uno."

Morgan shook her head. "You should learn, Missus."

"I will. We're all looking forward to the next one."

Andi stared at Chase in the ensuing silence. Chase shrugged, feigned to be clueless.

Morgan diffused the tension by looking at Chase and asking if she wanted to do the honors this time around.

"Yes, thank you, Morgan."

Chase stood and raised her glass. "We usually do this with a champagne toast, but Delise can't join in. Anyway, we want you to share in our joy. We're having a baby."

Sandra jumped up and hugged Delise. Andi leaned and kissed her cheek.

"Congratulations! Are you showing?"

"Almost," Delise said. "I'm just seven weeks."

"So when are you due?"

"July 4th," Delise said.

"Sweet. You'll miss the parties, though," Sandra said to light laughter.

"You'll keep this to yourselves? We're only telling a few close friends. Dale and Savannah, Susan and Nancy."

"Yes, you can count on us," Sandra answered.

12

Morgan listened to Andi patiently and glanced occasionally across the room to where Chase entertained Sandra and Delise.

She answered Andi. "Dale asked me the same thing. She's concerned about Delise's well being, just like you. Let me assure you that openly declaring Chase part of our relationship has nothing to do with Delise trying for a baby with her brother. Its nice that its worked out, but no, we didn't plan it that way. Believe me when I tell you that I am not worried that Chase and Delise may feel closer now. If they do, I'm glad. Its a connection other than their mutual need to play."

Andi nodded, then asked, "Does it feel right to you? Raising a baby in the same house where people are playing?"

Morgan almost smiled, but thought Andi wouldn't take her seriously if she did.

"Its a big house. The playrooms are in the basement behind locked doors. Come on, Andi. Its not like anyone parades their slaves around on a leash."

"I know you're distracting me, bringing up Somerfield and her slave Simone. I never saw that one coming. I never thought Somerfield was that hard."

Andi paused, then flicked a sharp gaze at Morgan. "I never thought you were hard, either."

"Only when I need to be."

The next few days were less social, but busy ones for Delise. The day had finally come when she had to tell her dressmaker, Olena, that she was pregnant. Olena only responded dryly that she, of course, already knew from the last few fittings.

"I'm not happy about retiring some of my best loved clothes," Delise lamented. "Even the empires are getting snug at the bust."

"I can let them out," Olena assured her. "I make clothes properly, so there is always some give, and if needed, panels can be added. I always order extra of your fabrics and materials and keep what I don't use."

"That's a relief, Olena. Thank you."

"I can come to your home with one of my team, if that will help you," Olena offered.

"That's tempting, but I enjoy getting out of the house."

"You'll let me know if you change your mind," Olena yielded.

Chase had friends over for play on Friday night. Delise had been re-organizing her wardrobe and felt inconvenienced to let Yvonne off work early that afternoon. No staff was on duty, not even security, although the automatic system was still running. Morgan served herself and Delise an afternoon tea, and later, dinner, from the meals Charlotte, the cook, had prepared in advance for the weekend.

"I'm not an invalid. I could have assembled this," Delise said as she and Morgan ate in the conservatory. "They won't be here for a few more hours."

"Mm hm," Morgan said.

"Is Chase eating?"

"She knows where the food is if she gets hungry."

Delise chuckled. "Is this how its going to go while I'm pregnant? What? Am I going to catch something from just saying hello?"

"Speaking of catching something, remember what the doctor said. So no more social kisses when you greet people. Air kisses have their use."

"Oh, dear," Delise sighed theatrically.

At a serious gaze from Morgan, she nodded. "Of course, you're right. I won't jeopardize my baby."

"Our baby."

"Yes, of course."

Tickets to the Dark Fantasy Masquerade Ball came in a moderately sized black box with a glossy finish, like the ones provided by department stores at Christmas back in their heyday. Upon opening one, in honor of Miss Olivia Waverly, there was a light scent of Shalimar from a small bottle secured in one compartment of the box. In another compartment lay a keepsake book, illustrated with Miss Olivia at various social affairs. The tickets themselves were enclosed in a thick glossy folder, along with the invitation. All were printed on heavy white paper bordered in black and gold.

Outside the venue, people like Hunter, Lou and Somerfield took turns screening premium ticket holders, while second tier ticket holders were obliged to line up for a more careful screening. Susan was business-like, properly doing the job Belle had assigned to her. She recognized almost everyone from her former club, from Elan and some from Cachet, but she took the time to check each ticket for the watermark embedded in them. Her manner was open and friendly, even when she was accused of deliberately trying to embarrass people who had followed Miss Olivia for years.

Some swore that Madelyn was holding tickets for them, if they could just be let inside to find her. Others wanted to buy tickets, but had to wait until a head count was taken.

"And how long will that take? I don't want to miss a thing," a disgruntled Meghan demanded to know.

Somerfield came to Susan's aid and assured the woman that Miss Belle's people were proficient at handling such things, and wanted above all, for their guests to enjoy the evening.

Soon after, when Susan was outside alone for just a few minutes, she heard someone imitating a dog's bark.

"She does make a proper little lap dog, doesn't she?"

For a moment, Susan was back at the last meeting when she'd been voted out as president of Eclat. She had no defense, and went swiftly inside, where Carson intercepted her.

"Hey, hold on, what's wrong, Susan?"

Susan felt bad that the only thing she could do was shake her head and speak incoherently. That Madelyn stepped outside with Carson while she was passed off to Lou hurt Susan. More because of letting Belle, and the club down, than being passed off.

"I'm so sorry," Susan said as she tried to hold back her tears.

"Its alright, Susan. You're alright. You're here with us. Tell Daddy Lou what happened."

Nancy had been called over, but Lou asked if she could talk to Susan long enough to find out what happened, and to address it if needed. Susan smiled tentatively at Nancy, who squeezed her hand.

"Tell her what happened," Nancy said gently as she rubbed Susan's back.

Susan did, but it started a fresh wave of sobbing.

"I'm sorry," Susan said. "Its so stupid. I don't know why I let them get to me like that."

"You didn't do anything wrong, Susan. I'm glad you confided in me. You know you can anytime you need to, alright?"

"Yes, Lou, thank you."

"Hm?"

Susan blinked, trying to remember what she'd missed. She looked up at Nancy, who only held back a smile and mouthed 'Daddy'.

"Oh. Oh! I'm so sorry," she exclaimed as her eyes welled with tears.

"Don't you dare start that up again."

"Yes. Yes, Daddy Lou."

Lou smiled. "That's better, Susan."

Susan was ready to disappear into the ball, which was starting soon, but Lou spoke again.

"Susan," Lou sounded serious. "Do you really understand?"

Susan looked confused.

"The reason I ask some girls to call me Daddy is not so I can get a thrill out of buying them shoes and having them sit on my lap. I protect my girls, Susan. That includes you. I expect you to come running to me for things like what happened tonight."

The band began to play soft, but ethereal music as the last women who were admitted found their tables. The house lights were dimmed to reveal what couldn't be seen properly in full light. A dark forest panorama in deepest blues and greens lined the entire venue. Lights pulsed through tree branches, twinkled in the deep red net that draped from the ceiling. Twisted wood, entwined with fantasy blooms, glowed on each table. Place settings were black, gold and crystal. The staff was costumed in all black with horned headbands, but were not masked. The music, initially themed to dark fantasy, eventually segued into ball music appropriate for dancing.

The ball guests were the entertainment. Costumes ranged from the simple but effective, to the elaborate. Delise wore an ethereal gown with a violet bodice shaped like a bow. The skirt was cascading cloud-like drapes in red-violet that flowed as she moved. A blue-violet shimmer reflected light among the dress' folds. Elements included brooches at the center of the front and back bows, and a chain-style tagdi that hung among the folds. Her jewelry was leaf motif, her kinky curly hair was loose and wild. Her makeup was shimmered violet with a red violet mouth, colors that went well with her golden beige complexion. Her heels were decorated with elements matching her gown.

Her gown was not the only one with a train that evening, albeit hers was a short sweep train. As Chase led Delise on the dance floor, she spoke quietly, keeping their conversation private.

"I love your gown. Know why?"

"Tell me."

"It makes you rather helpless. You could easily trip on it, especially in those heels. Should you be wearing them?"

"I'm barely pregnant," Delise had answered quietly, matching Chase's volume. "The time will come when I won't be able to wear them."

"Hm... barely pregnant. Say that again."

"Barely pregnant."

"No, just the pregnant part."

"Pregnant?"

"Say 'I'm pregnant'.

Delise had chuckled. "I'm pregnant."

"Whose baby is it?" Chase had leaned down to speak against her ear.

Delise had gasped.

"Hm? Need a hint? Ask yourself, whose DNA is going to match."

Surprise rendered Delise's voice extra breathy. "Yours?"

"Mm hm. So whose baby are you carrying, Princess?"

"Yours." Delise stated with no hesitation.

"That's right. Its my baby."

Chase smiled and kissed her cheek.

17

Later, Delise's smiled faded as she noticed Susan was struggling to smile and greet. She went to her.

"Its about time you have a chance to enjoy the party. I don't know why they had you working so long. Susan?" Delise realized something was off.

Susan took Delise's hand, her grip firm, as if she was holding on for dear life. Then she talked the way that good friends do sometimes. When there's so much to say, when it should wait to be explained fully, but when there isn't time. A spewing of words and feelings.

"You're just the person I need. I had a flashback to the night I was voted out of Eclat. I've been upset ever since. Nancy was there for me and... Daddy Lou, but... its not... they can't help."

"What happened?" Delise slid into the chair next to Susan.

"It was something like what you told me about what Lorna and Sora did to you. I'm sure it was Lorna who made a catty remark. And after I'd validated their tickets, too!"

"I'm sorry," Delise said. "Did you tell anyone?"

"No. I was too upset. I found out later that Perla stood up for me after I ran inside like a damned coward. She told Carson she heard what Lorna said, so its taken care of. No, what I need you for is... I needed Nancy. Really needed her."

"Of course, you did. And she was there for you, right?"

"Yes. Yes, but I found out I'm not the woman I thought I was. I've become this weak thing that calls her friend, blubbering. And clings to her partner, scared and falling apart. Lou reminded me I had her on my side, too."

"Yes, she protects her girls."

"Delise, I used to be strong. What happened to me?"

"You are strong. Still. It was easy for you because Eclat was with you. Everyone has a time when they need to rely on someone else. You're lucky you have Nancy, and Daddy Lou, too."

"I'm scared, because I need that."

Delise cocked her head. "Not scared to need Nancy. You've always been able to go to her when you needed to."

"Scared because a practical stranger made me feel better, but in a different way."

"It's not a bad thing, Susan. Daddy Lou is not a stranger."

"It's not a bad thing for you. You like it."

"Only because I've only been strong when I absolutely had to be. Like you will be if its absolutely necessary. Lorna does not qualify as a worthy cause."

Susan laughed and said, "I hate that bitch."

"Me too, but I can't tell anyone because Morgan saved Gina's life."

"If it had been Lorna about to jump, I'd have pushed her."

"Why does she even want to be here considering how much she dislikes Miss Belle's people?"

"Miss Belle has the best parties, don't you know?" Susan said dryly.

They snickered.

"Chase made me say its her baby I'm carrying," Delise confided, half smiling, half feigning irritation.

Susan's eyes widened, but she ended up grinning. "I think that's what Nancy is doing."

When Delise looked puzzled, Susan explained. "I think she's changing the balance of power between us."

"If she's been talking to Morgan a lot, then yes, she probably is."

Susan grabbed Delise's arm. "What is Morgan telling her to do next?"

"I wouldn't know."

A strong white light caught their attention. Like everyone else, they turned to look, expecting a party entertainment.

A woman in a catsuit and drawn on whiskers was explaining to Belle that her followers wanted to know more about her and her people. Rather, she was trying to explain. Somerfield, Carson and George physically blocked her from coming further inside, and blocked the view for her assistant, who was attempting to stream the ball.

"Belle... Excuse me, Miss Belle, I'm here to spread the word and broaden your base. You could increase your revenue. Everyone will want to come to your parties."

"Excuse me, Miss... er... um...?"

"Renita! Here with Miss Belle at her super exclusive Dark Fantasy Ball..." Renita bobbed between her assistant and Somerfield, trying to stay in the shot.

"Renita? This affair is for ticket holders only. I'm afraid I don't know you. Please leave."

Renita smiled widely for the camera. "You'll lose potential followers and revenue if you don't let me in."

Belle smiled and said, just before she walked away, "This is a private party. We only entertain people we know. Good night."

For a moment, it seemed Renita was going to bluster her way inside further, but every direction she moved in became suddenly empty. At one point an entire table of women got up to dance when she approached.

19

Quinn arrived a little late and although she wore a costume and mask, Delise recognized her by her build, and of course, from her booming voice. She assumed one of the women on her arm was Camille, but gasped and stared at the statuesque figure on her other arm. Delise was shocked, and judging by the murmurs, so were many others. Anyone who knew Ondine recognized her behind her elaborate costume with its long train. That she carried it off well, was an understatement. The trio worked the room as they entered, before finding their table.

It was Chase who mirrored Quinn's own penchant for honestly when she asked if they were a trio now.

Quinn chuckled heartily and answered, "Jealous, Hartridge? You thought you were the only one working that?"

Chase lowered her voice confidentially as she leveled an assessing gaze at Ondine. "Does she play?"

"She's a smart girl. She knows how to get what she wants."

"The type that's willing to leave anything behind when she finds better?"

"What are you saying?" Quinn's voice became belligerent.

"Only that she's not really into it. I wouldn't like to see you hurt."

Quinn laughed. "You didn't seem to mind when Arte hurt me."

Almost instantly, Quinn apologized when she saw the pain in Chase's eyes. Instead of walking away, as Delise expected, Quinn took Chase to the bar for a drink.

Morgan's costume was a black and wine tuxedo ensemble, the calf-length flared coat of which had a wine lining. A top hat finished the look's steampunk vampire aura. She smiled to herself as she approached Ross from behind on the upper tier.

"Trying to hide out, are you?" Morgan asked warmly.

Ross was uncharacteristically expressionless, her dark eyes almost wary. Her date, Chloe James, perked up and smiled invitingly when she recognized Morgan.

Chloe spoke first. "It's wonderful you came up to speak, isn't it Ross?"

Although Morgan spared Chloe a quick glance, neither she nor Ross responded to her as their eyes held. She blinked, seemed to ponder what she'd done to warrant being ignored.

"Morgan, please meet Chloe James. Chloe... Morgan..."

"Oh, I know! Morgan Carmichael. Pleased to meet you," Chloe exclaimed, smiling briefly.

"Its lovely to meet you, as well, Chloe," Morgan turned a warm look on her and spoke in an even warmer tone of voice.

To Ross she said, "Miss Belle says you belong downstairs with her honorary members."

"I don't know. I'm not going to actively earn it."

"Take it while its on offer," Morgan replied.

"So right," Chloe said while gathering her things and heading toward the stairs.

"Chloe!" Ross called out quietly, but firmly.

Chloe, who seemed Ondine's opposite, short in stature, but amply proportioned, her attractive facial features cute and round, stopped and looked at Ross.

Ross nodded to Morgan in a resigned manner and stood up.

Morgan clapped Ross on the shoulder and smiled, then went past Chloe, but paused to tell her, "Down there, you wait to be escorted."

Lorna's voice rang out. "Down there, you give up your rights as an independent woman. Down there, you serve."

"That's right," Morgan replied and smiled at Lorna before she continued on her way.

21

An affable and slightly outgoing woman, Chloe made conversation at their table when they weren't dancing.

"I was tickled when Morgan told us Miss Belle said we could sit down here. I thought the honorary table was for the sister clubs, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I know Tracy is the coordinator of Elan, because I'm a member there, too, but I heard you left Eclat, Susan, and I don't know you two..." Chloe trailed off.

Ross took over the introductions and introduced Taylor and Cadence. "Sorry, Chloe, dear. I'm not at the top of my form tonight."

While Tracy had Chloe on the dance floor, she took the opportunity to help her.

"You know how we treat Miss Belle's people when they're at our events, but being at theirs requires more..."

Chloe interrupted, "Like waiting to be escorted. That's what Morgan said."

Tracy chuckled and almost slapped Chloe's behind.

Chloe giggled, "I know what you were going to do. Be careful. I don't know how Ross will like that."

"Not at all since you're her date. And that's the only reason, because Ross isn't one of 'boys' in Miss Belle's set. Neither is Taylor, nor Nancy."

"Definitely not Nancy. Normally I'd be able to spot one by how she dresses, but everyone's in costume tonight."

"So just be careful. I've always liked your bubbly personality, but don't be too playful or forward dealing with the boys tonight. They take themselves seriously. Its ingrained."

"Sounds enticing," Chloe smirked.

22

At one point Cadence struck up a conversation when only she, Susan and Chloe were at the table.

"I'm glad someone is having a good time tonight," she said, smiling at Chloe.

"I am! Its a great party and everyone is asking me to dance. Aren't you enjoying yourself?"

"Yes, but you seem to positively sparkle."

"This is probably my first and last time to mingle so closely with Miss Belle's people. I'm taking full advantage," Chloe declared.

Then, she faltered as she remembered something. She looked around and came round to sit closer to the other women.

"Tonight, Morgan told me I should wait to be escorted and Tracy said not to be too forward. I get that, sure. I know that from being in a sister club. But Lorna..."

Here, she paused slightly as Susan hissed.

"... said that down here I give up my rights as an independent woman and... serve?"

"Lorna has had a hard time lately. Take what she says with a grain of salt."

"She was always catty," Susan said.

"But some of it rings true. Especially when Tracy said something similar."

"My advice is to be yourself. They'll let you know and they'll be nice about it. Not all of them are so rigid. I think your personality is refreshing," Susan said. "Come on, I'll introduce you to Delise."

Chloe smiled. Cadence looked a bit sour.

23

Ross' old friends cornered her in an alcove not far from the bar.

"She's delightful," Reese complimented.

Taylor nodded. "She's a sweet diversion."

"Diversion? You've had that on the back burner for a while, haven't you?" Dale surmised.

"How are you handling her?" Morgan asked quietly.

"Differently," Ross said adamantly.

Morgan nodded. "Careful, you don't extinguish her spirit. I like her."

Ondine sat at Delise's table while making a show of needing a break from dancing.

"Ondine, have you met Chloe?" Delise asked.

"Its been a while. How are you?"

"Not as good as you seem to be," Chloe said admiringly. "You're magnificent. You should win best costume, if there is a contest."

"Thanks hun," Ondine's smile was genuine. She took a good look at Delise.

"Are you putting on weight? Don't wait to do something about it. Its harder the older we get."

Delise smiled gently. "You do look good, Dina. I hope you're happy. Are you leaving us for New York?"

"I am! I've always thought I belonged in New York."

"Yes, I think so too."

"Maybe Quinn can help you get into singing. You always had a great voice."

Ondine smile enigmatically, but only said, "I'd better get back to my table. Quinn doesn't like to have to look for me."

24

Delise felt secure in Morgan's arms as she was led around the dance floor. A musical interlude of Halloween songs played while the band took a break. She smiled as they moved to the faster beat, then her eyes widened as a surge of nausea washed over her. She pulled away from Morgan and rushed to the ladies room. She frowned as she saw women waiting in line but rushed past them and found a free sink. Morgan came right after her and helped hold the flowing folds of her gown free of the mess. The next woman in line graciously gestured Delise to the next free stall, just in case it was needed. Delise politely declined and leaned miserably against the partition while Morgan began to clean the sink.

Sersha came out of a stall. "It wasn't something she ate, was it? Here, let me do that. You check on her."

"No, just all the jumping about on the floor," Morgan assured Sersha and joined Delise with a warm hand towel and a cool one for her forehead.

"You take such good care of me," Delise said quietly, her eyes closed. "Did I ruin my gown?"

"It's fine. Feel any more coming?"

"No, but I need to sit down."

Morgan took the precaution of having Delise recline on the love seat in the entry area of the restroom, her head in Morgan's lap.

"Can I bring some water?" Sersha offered.

"No, thanks," Delise said quietly. She looked up at Morgan.

"And here I thought I wasn't going to have morning sickness. And its certainly late in the day for it."

"Quiet, just take deep breaths."

"I smelled something rotten," Delise persisted. "The busboy walked right by us with the empty plates.

"Shh, now."

Delise belated realized she could have been overheard, but no one seemed to have noticed.

Chase came in to the lounge looking wildly about. She went to her knees, looking Delise over.

"What is it? Sersha said she's sick."

"Something made my stomach turn," Delise said.

"What did you eat?"

Morgan quietly said, "I think it was something she smelled."

Chase asked, "How do you feel?"

"Fine, now." Delise tried to sit up, but they both held her.

"Slowly."

"Take it easy."

Somerfield came in and asked if something was wrong with Delise's food, but was assured that the food was fine. Delise convinced her partners that whatever it was had passed.

Chase glanced pointedly at Morgan. "Still think its unnecessary?"

"What?" Delise asked as she walked between them back to their table.

Morgan grimaced. "Sersha was a lifesaver cleaning up the sink for me."

"Mm hm."

"What?" Delise asked.

"Its a surprise," Chase smiled enigmatically.

25

Olivia Waverly's arrival was greeted with great fanfare. Everyone stood and clapped. Somerfield, Belle and Madelyn each spoke briefly to the crowd, even while waiting for Chance and an assistant to roll Olivia's wheelchair onto the stage. Guests of Honor came from Olivia's many connections. Some of the speakers to laud her ranged from a local politician to a grateful recipient of her help at a low point in her life.

Delise was very happy to see Olivia looked well, and much the same as she remembered her. Olivia Waverly was perhaps a size smaller than her usual perfect size 8, but her translucent brown complexion was still soft and clear, her small features framed in a cloud of gray hair that was now mostly white. Delise's heart dropped a bit as she heard Olivia stumble over her words. Mae bent

near quietly helping her.

Afterwards, as the party wound down, the music was slower, and Olivia's people stopped by her table for a short word before vacating to give others a turn. Olivia smiled when she saw Morgan, Chase and Delise. She focused on Chase and seemed to know and understand about her recent loss.               She reached for Chase's hand and looked up at her, then to Morgan and Delise. She spoke, her voice a whisper, and said with effort, "This is your family now. Take good care of one another."

Chase answered, her voice choked and her usual impassive expression softened, "Yes, Miss Olivia. Thank you. We love you."

26

The after party at Lou's and Madelyn's was already crowded by the time Chase pulled her car up to the front walk.

Morgan hesitated instead of getting out.

"Maybe I ought to take her home. You can get a ride with someone."

"That's not fair to either of you," Delise said. "You should have listened to me and dropped me off."

Chase answered, "Did you hear what I said earlier? I can't relax knowing you're alone."

Delise sighed. "Millions of pregnant women make it just fine on their own without being pampered. Most work and come home to cook and take care of kids they already have. I'll be fine. I'm just tired. You need to get used to that."

"We'll talk about this tomorrow, Delise. Take her in, Morgan. I'm sure Madelyn will let her rest in a spare bedroom."

Morgan nodded and helped Delise out of the back seat. Suddenly Delise had the feeling the gesture wasn't gallantry, but coddling. As they waited to be let inside, Delise yawned and spoke to Morgan.

"Even if having an aide tonight would have helped, its ridiculous to spend money on someone full time. You of all people don't like having strangers involved in our lives. I don't know why you're even considering it."

"Maybe because its not my money, and the agency vets people thoroughly, but you're right, Missus. I'd prefer to have someone we know."

"And we don't know anyone who would want to be on call to be a nurse maid," Delise said triumphantly. Her smug expression froze as she watched Morgan thinking.

"What about someone who is already going to be where you are anyway?"

"That wouldn't work for tonight. Everyone is at a party. No one would miss it to stay with me while I sleep."

Morgan smiled. "Let's table this for now," she told Delise as the door opened.

27

Delise brought coffee, and tea (for herself) to the blue and white French reception room. Outside, rain poured down the window in sheets, obscuring the view of the stairs and driveway, and the trees beyond. She wore a simple, but pretty orange-red A-line day dress in a lightweight wool. Morgan wore a thin maroon v-neck sweater over tan slacks. Chase wore an emerald green gabardine vest over a white silk tee and charcoal slacks.

"Thank you, Missus. This is a nice change," Morgan said approvingly.

"Well, the lounge screams evening time and the conservatory is too cold unless there's sun."

"Most people use their living room," Chase said as she accepted coffee. "Thank you."

"That's an option - for the afternoon," Delise said.

Chase rolled her eyes and made a show of looking at her watch. Delise laughed, but missed the small nod Morgan gave to Chase.

"Princess, I've decided. You will have an aide to accompany you."

Delise didn't answer right away. She took a sip of her warm savory ginger tea and set her cup down.

"Won't that look odd?"

"To whom? Do you care so much what other people think?"

"So sometimes there will be two women tagging along with me? Next thing you know I'll have a whole posse."

"That's a fair question," Morgan answered. "The answer is 'yes'."

"No one does that these days. Except for celebrities and royalty."

"How would you know?" Chase asked conversationally.

"Well, I don't, but I'll concede some super rich people who aren't royalty may have escorts. Aids or nurses if they're ill or whatever. But that's not us."

"How do you know that?" Chase asked, her face deceptively expressionless.

Delise hesitated, inhaled shallowly. "Well, I don't really know how those people live. I just know we aren't like them. I don't know how much money Morgan has now, but it isn't like those people."

"Ah. So, all you have to be concerned with is that you won't be spending any of your money. What I do with mine is none of your concern. Also, Princess, I thought we were three in this relationship. Soon to be a family of four."

"Yes," Delise agreed, hesitant to say more. She knew she was out of her depth here.

"So when you said 'we', you didn't include me."

"I'm sorry, Chase. Of course, I think of you as family."

"No, you don't really," Chase paused as she thought further.

"Is it..." Chase began, "because I haven't given you a trust as Morgan has?"

"What? No, of course not! I don't measure love with dollars. I know you have spent a lot of money on me. I do. I'm happy with whatever you choose to give me. You know I never ask for anything."

"That's nice to know, Princess. Come here, kneel at my feet."

Delise hesitated a blink, glanced at Morgan, whose face was closed, then slowly obeyed.

"My sweet Princess," Chase said softly, tilting Delise's face up to hers. "I choose to give you a personal maid for here at home to help you dress, to keep your wardrobe and whatever else you need. I also choose to give you a security guard for when we can't be with you. Now, I choose to provide a companion for both here at home and when you're away."

Chase paused and observed Delise's reaction of quiet confusion, mild disbelief followed by distress.

"No," Delise whispered.

"Princess, what you want is not important. You must learn to want what I want."

Delise was silent, her face a study of conflicting emotions.

"Please, Chase. No."

"Thank me for giving you a personal maid."

Delise needed to see Morgan's face, but didn't dare. Her voice was small, tremulous.

"Thank you."

"For what?"

"Thank you for giving me a personal maid."

"Thank me for giving you a security guard."

Delise did not want to thank Chase for what she still thought of as an embarrassment. Yet, she felt that Chase was right in some respects, and that she had hurt Chase's feelings. Still, she felt pressured to do as Chase wished.

"Thank you for giving me a security guard, Chase."

"Thank me for giving you a companion."

Delise's voice was choked. She was keenly aware of her submissive kneel at Chase's feet; of her natural tendency to obey.

"Thank you for giving me a companion."

"Take my shoes off and kiss my feet."

Conflicting sensations washed over Delise. She felt utterly demeaned, conflictedly enraged. Yet, her pussy contracted. She felt herself sinking into nothing but Chase's play thing. Hot tears fell on Chase's feet as Delise obeyed and pressed her lips to Chase's bare skin. Delise was aware, although she did not look up, that above her, Chase inhaled deeply. She heard her moan.

"Now, thank me for giving you a baby."

"Thank you for giving me a baby, Chase," Delise almost panted.

"Our baby is the most important thing in all our lives now. Even more important to me than you. And you know how important you are to me, Princess. Take your panties off, and masturbate yourself on my foot."

Delise's breath hitched as she moved to obey. She listened for some indication from Morgan, some movement, a sound. As she slid her slick vulva against Chase's foot, she glanced over to Morgan. But Morgan was not there. Chase turned Delise's face up.

"Keep your eyes on me while you make yourself cum, Princess."

"Yes, Chase."

"Now, thank me for dominating you."

"Thank you, Chase, for dominating me."

"Such a good slut you are, Princess."

Shortly after, Delise clung to Chase, seated in her lap, Chase's long hands gentled her as her sobs quieted and her breathing calmed.

"Alright, Princess?"

"Yes, thank you."

Chase kissed her temple.

"My sweet Princess."

28

Delise was in deep misery as she sought out Morgan's arms.

"She told me I'm not as important to her as the baby. I feel the same, but it was the way she said it Morgan. It hurt."

Morgan's voice was as comforting as her arms. "Do you think you got confused? She does a good head game when she's on a roll."

"Maybe. Did you know she was going to do that?"

"No."

"You left me."

"Delise, you once pledged yourself to her. Please don't play us against each other. If you've changed your mind, tell her. She'll release you."

Delise nodded slowly.

"But of course, you don't want to be released, do you?" Morgan asked, a hint of sadness, but also a hint of fondness in her voice.

Chase gently slipped onto the large bed behind Morgan. They watched Delise sleep. Chase traced a finger along Morgan's jawline.
