Day Zero -- Preparations
Locktober always sneaks up on me quicker than I anticipate. I'm very thankful that I don't need to panic too much. I have all my equipment and use it regularly. So I don't need to buy a new device or new accessories before starting. I've been wearing chastity for over six and a half years now. In fact it's now been 2382 days since I first started regularly wearing chastity. I don't wear it 24/7, but I do wear my device(s) most evenings and some weekends. When working or doing physical activity I tend not to be locked up. Sometimes I'll spend an entire weekend locked up.
I have a total of six devices. I only ever use three of them now, my earlier devices are ones that I wouldn't dream of wearing today. Like most people I started with a really cheap clear plastic cage. If you've even had a passing interest you'll have seen these things. They used to be marked as CB devices if I remember correctly (HoD600). The base ring which goes around your balls is in two parts and there are pins, one of which you put the padlock through. They are uncomfortable and nasty things. Yet I survived a whole three months of wearing it 4 hours a day. At a length of 8cm, it caused more problems than it solved. The harsh corners of the device caused chafing and made it little more than a toy for short scenes.
My next device was an early 'Holy Trainer' V2 design. Now in, I think their 6th version, the early designs were surprisingly comfortable but not without their flaws. Again this one was an 8cm, length, but the rounded edges and higher quality materials paired with the concealed lock to make for a far more comfortable device. I wore this for eight months before I upgraded to something far, far more appropriate. The main issue of course with the Holy Trainer designs are the lack of ability to clean them during longer stints wearing them. They have just a few holes at the tip of where the penis should sit for urination. The second major flaw for someone like me is that even at 8cm long the tube in which the penis sits is too wide and too long.
A lot of folks are keen to chime in about the correct sizing of chastity devices. They're correct that they ought not to be too tight. What they often get wrong is that this applies primarily to the base ring, not the tube. It was while wearing my HTv2 that I learnt giving your penis any room in which to expand increases the likelihood of unwanted erections. While my base ring diameter for my devices has long remained the same, the tube section is far more comfortable when wearing a 'nub' style. Because they are smaller I find that I rarely if ever get an erection. Sure my body will respond and try to send blood to that area, but these attempted erections recede very quickly. Now I know there are some who will be concerned about long term effects. Well, more than six years later and I can still get an erection when not wearing a device. The plumbing all still works and works well. So, if you want my advice make sure the base ring is a comfortable size but try and get a tube or nub that is a little smaller than your flaccid length.
It was when I started wearing my Holy Trainer V4 that I learnt the value of straps. Almost eight months into wearing chastity I discovered that the straps you can get which attach to the base ring and wrap around the waist and between the legs help a great deal. This device was only 4.5cm, so a good deal smaller than my original devices. The tube's girth was still slightly too wide, but it was comfortable none the less. Using straps to keep the device closer to my body I found at the time allowed me to be more active when wearing it. My partner at the time was kind enough to purchase me ten sets of straps so that I could change them daily as I would underwear. That was my very first locktober and I wore my device 24/7 for the first two weeks before encountering some discomfort. I had of course practiced wearing the device at night. I'd arrive home from work and my partner would lock me up once I'd showered. I'd also been able to make it through entire weekends locked. Honestly, if you're curious about chastity start with a 'Holy Trainer' style device. They're where I wish I had started. They're comfy and wearable for longer periods. Don't jump in to 24/7 wear though. First try to get a routine where you're able to keep yourself under control when showering. Removing your device, cleaning it in soapy water, then allowing it to dry while you are showering and drying is an essential routine if you intend to try 24/7 wear.
While I encountered discomfort two weeks into locktober, I did complete it. I spent a total of six hours during that month out of chastity and my partner learnt that spanking a set of balls locked up is never a good idea. As both an apology and congratulations, she would end up purchasing me my next device. One I'd been looking at for a long time. A 'Cobra Nub'. I'd looked at these for a long time and honestly felt that they'd be a great solution for helping to keep it clean during longer wears. She was kind enough to allow me to buy a second device which was metal, not the usual plastic/resin of the first purchase. The plastic one is great for longer wear when I'm likely to be active or at work. It is light so it can go unnoticed most of the day. The metal ones though, while a little heavier are also very easy to sterilise well.
One of the really great things about the cobra style cages is that the cage part comes in different diameters much like the base rings. So, at a 2.9cm length, and a 2.8cm diameter my penis gets kept very snug and small. So much so infact that while it can push against the cage my body seems to give up trying to get erect when wearing them. The more open nature of these devices means that I get less sweaty than when wearing the 'Holy Trainer' styles. The real downside is that due to the short length of these cages the straps to keep it snug to your body are a necessity. The nub was the first I wore for an entire month with no problems. I wore it at work, while playing tennis, and even during light jogs. Of course, it got unlocked and thoroughly cleaned every time I had a shower -- hygiene is essential guys. Having a metal and a plastic version though does mean I can wear the plastic during the day, get home, shower, dry off, then lock up in the metal one until morning. With the one I'm not wearing being cleaned and drying properly.
Over the years I've only purchased direct replacements for my cobra nub. It's still my favourite and will be for a long time to come. The only other device I have purchased has been a 'flat' cage. Barely more than a flat panel with a ring on the inside which connects to the base ring, they are an experience. I have worn it, but never long term.
This is what I take into Locktober this yea: a long history of wearing chastity devices. To be clear, Locktober this year means what it means for me every year. Every moment I am not showering, I will be wearing a chastity device. Fungal infections in that area are not fun, so please clean properly. Ask permission to be unlocked for a shower and be locked up immediately after when dry. If you can't control yourself while showering, that says a lot about you. My self-control has improved a lot in the last six years, so perhaps I'm being unfair. Your aim during Locktober though should be to not touch yourself and remain locked for as much of the month as you can. If you really find it difficult, maybe try to wear chastity every day for just a couple of hours. As long as you wear it every day for those hours, and do not allow yourself to pleasure yourself you'll have achieved something.
See you tomorrow, Jack
