I hadn't written about us in years.
The last time I sat down and told one of these stories was 2011. The kids were still young enough that I had to think about which one of them might walk in. We were still figuring out how far we wanted to take things, how much teasing he could handle, how much I actually liked being the one who decided what he wore. Then life got louder.
School drop-offs, soccer, conferences. Steve's hours stretching later and later into the days. My own days filling up once I went back part-time as a counselor at the same middle school our kids had attended years earlier. Sex didn't stop, it just got quieter. Two or three times a week became once a week, and even that started depending on who wasn't exhausted and who didn't have to get up at five-thirty. The sex was still good. It just wasn't easy the way it used to be.
Steve never stopped wearing panties. That part didn't go back in a box. It just changed. What started as a fun kink, the prints, the ruffles, the nights I would pull a pair out on purpose and watch him get hard before he even had them all the way up, turned into something quieter. He tried men's underwear again more than once. Briefs for the doctor and boxers when he thought he should. He always came back to panties, they just seemed to fit better. They didn't leave him shifting in his slacks by ten in the morning. The support was there without the extra fabric of mens underwear. After a while it stopped being a secret we talked about every time and started being laundry.
He settled primarily on string bikinis and regular bikinis, mostly. Soft and simple with enough coverage to be comfortable and not enough to feel like what other guys wore. Half a drawer of them. A thong or two was still tucked in the back, but those only came out if I reached in and handed them to him.
I still bought him new ones when I noticed the same pairs in the wash every week. Christmas too. A couple of pairs tucked in the bottom of his stocking like it was nothing. He would hold them up and grin, and it almost always led to sex that night. Good sex. Not the intensity we used to have when the panties were the whole point of the evening. Just us, a little turned on by the wrapping paper and the fact that I still thought about what he was wearing underneath his male clothes.
I still liked watching him get dressed after his morning shower. He would come out of the bathroom a little cold, hair damp, and pull a pair on before his slacks. When the cool air hit him he was smaller than usual. The front of the panties made that obvious. A soft little outline instead of the one I used to tease. I would catch it while I sipped my coffee and not say anything. It was just part of the morning routine by then.
The toys were another story. Those did go away. Not thrown out, just moved. Out of the nightstand and into a box that ended up in the back of his closet behind the suitcases. Out of sight. Out of mind.
By 2017 the house was finally starting to breathe again. One kid driving with their learners permit. The other in his last year of middle school. And in that quiet I started remembering how it used to feel when I told him to put a new pair on and watched his face change.
That's when I had lunch with Ashley. She has been my friend since before the kids. We still make time once a month, no matter what. She is outgoing in the way I am not. She does not always have a filter. We were talking about nothing in particular when she mentioned she'd finally replaced the jelly dildo she kept in the nightstand.
"I went silicone," she said, like she was talking about a new blender. "Dual density. Soft on the outside, firmer on the inside. It holds heat. It feels like the real thing." She laughed. "I went a little bigger than my last one. And that last one was already a little bigger than my husband and he's a little more than average. What I thought was big a few years ago is just normal now. The orgasm was different. Fuller."
I drove home thinking about that conversation and my upcoming trip with Steve. His company had moved him up to district manage a few months earlier. He still traveled one or two per week, but he was home most nights. No more hotels every week. The one exception was the annual meeting. Spouses were invited. This year it was Denver.
I tried to remember the last time I had bought something sexy just for him to see me in. I honestly could not. Years.
That night I went into his closet. I had to move the suitcases. I had to move the extra blankets. The box was a little dusty. Inside, the one dildo we still used when we used anything, an old battery vibrator whose back I had popped off months ago only to find the terminals corroded green, and the plugs we hadn't touched in a long time. Two of the old jelly pieces had stuck together. The surface felt tacky, almost melted. I threw those away in the kitchen trash and washed my hands longer than I needed to. I got the tape measure out of the junk drawer and measured what was left before I forgot the sizes. Length I remembered well enough. Girth I had stopped thinking about. Ashley had talked about girth like it mattered. An inch and a half to something closer to an inch and seven-tenths, she said. Not a huge jump. Enough that she felt it.
I sat on the bed with my laptop after Steve was asleep. I started with Tantus because their name kept coming up in the same conversations as "silicone that doesn't get sticky." I opened every model page. Silk. Feeldoe. The slimmer ones. The thicker ones. I read the measurement charts twice. Then I read the reviews the way I used to read parenting forums, looking for the women who sounded like they actually used the thing, not the ones writing one sentence. Women talked about the difference between jelly and dual-density like it was a before-and-after. Heat. Give. How it didn't drag. How it didn't smell. How it made them feel full without feeling like they were using a toy from 2004.
Then I went to Vixen. I looked at every VixSkin model they had. Mustang. Bandit. Slim. I compared insertable lengths in a little note on a pad beside the laptop. I compared girth at the head and mid-shaft. I read reviews until my eyes burned. Women talked about the outer skin feeling like skin. They talked about warming it in their hands first. They talked about using it with a partner and not wanting to go back. I found myself shifting on the bed. It wasn't even a fantasy with a face yet. It was the newness. The idea that we could put something back into our nights that wasn't the same three positions and the same quiet finish.
I chose the Mustang. Shorter than what I had just thrown away. Thicker. Caramel -- not the pale one, not the darkest one. I found a coupon. I paid for five-day shipping because we were leaving in three weeks and I am the kind of person who coupons now. Then I researched lube like I was buying a small appliance. I did not want another bottle that started fine and turned into glue halfway through. I read ingredient lists. I read "works with silicone toys" a dozen times. I opened review after review on hybrids. The one I kept coming back to said the same three things in different words: it comes out milky white, and when you use it, it looks like cum. It lasts a long time. It does not get tacky. A few women said they liked that it looked messy on purpose. A few men said they liked watching it. I sat there longer than I needed to on that product page. I put the 2.7-ounce bottle in the cart.
I closed the laptop and lay there in the dark. Steve was already out. The house was quiet in that way it only gets after years of kids. I could still see the product photos when I shut my eyes. I slid my hand down without meaning to plan it. I was already wet. Not the polite kind. The kind that made my fingers slip. I thought about the Mustang in a box somewhere, still sealed. I thought about telling Steve to put something on and not telling him why yet. I thought about variety like it was a word I had misplaced. I rubbed slow, then faster, then I made myself stop with my heart up in my throat because if I finished I was going to want to open something, and I did not want to open anything yet. I wanted Denver to have the first time. I rolled onto my side, squeezed my thighs together, and waited for it to fade enough to sleep. It took a while.
The next day I went back for a vibrator. I wanted rechargeable. I wanted something that would not die in the middle of a night because a battery had gone green again. I did not want big. I did not want internal. I wanted it on my clit, in my hand, small enough for a purse. I looked at bullets and hated most of them. I looked at wands and knew I would never pack one. I ended up on Lelo because every review that sounded like a grown woman pointed there. I read about the Lily 2 until I could picture it in my palm. Soft. Quiet enough. Patterns I could actually tell apart. It came in a velvet pouch. I ordered it.
Then I thought about Steve. I remembered the nights I used to play with him from behind and how long it had been. I found the Vixen Spur, small, silicone, four or five inches, about an inch and a quarter around. Not a plug exactly. Just enough. I emailed them fast enough that they combined it with the Mustang. One box instead of two.
The packages came. I opened the outer cartons to make sure it was what I ordered. I left the inner boxes sealed. The Vixen pieces came in clear tubes. I could see them. I did not open the tubes. The Mustang was shorter than I had hoped and thicker than what I was used to. A trade. I decided I was fine with it. The Spur looked smaller than the old one and a little thicker. The lube bottle was small. I held it up to the light. It looked like milk. I was used to clear.
Two days later the vibrator arrived in a discreet box, packed well, the toy inside the velvet pouch. I had to open that one. It needed to charge. I hid the charger and the toy and plugged it in.
Tuesday before we left, the trip was Friday, I went to the mall. Aerie first. Nothing. Soft cotton, pretty enough for a teenager, not one thing that would make Steve stop talking when I walked out of a bathroom. Macy's next. The lingerie department was huge and somehow still empty of what I wanted. Racks of beige. Racks of black that looked like they had been designed not to offend anyone. A few pieces I could have called sexy if I was being generous, lace that stopped at pretty, satin that stopped at nice. Nothing sultry. Nothing that made me picture a hotel room. The panty wall was not much better. Rows of bikinis and hipsters in safe colors. I picked up a pair of b. tempt'd. That was about as hot as the department store was willing to go. Cute. Cheeky. The kind of thing Steve already had in his drawer at home. I held them and thought about sitting on his face in them and put them back. They were not that. Nordstrom after that. Better lighting. Better hangers. Same problem. The lingerie looked expensive and still felt polite. A couple of sets I could have worn to feel pretty. None I would have packed to make his mouth go dry. The panty selection was nicer fabric and the same idea. More b. tempt'd. A few other brands that cut a little higher on the hip. I turned one pair over in my hands and imagined the wet spot later and still did not want those on his mouth. I walked out without a bag.
Victoria's Secret last. I had not enjoyed that store in years. Too many people, too much of the same pink. I walked in anyway and stopped. They had actually gotten better. The Shine Strap line caught the light from the front of the store. I picked up a black bra first. I turned it in my hands and already knew what it would do on me. I am a 32DD. They are still high enough that I am vain about them, and I wanted something that would push them together without turning me into a costume. I took it to the fitting room with the matching thong, rhinestones on the sides spelling Victoria's Secret and the garter belt I had not worn in forever.
I locked the door. I took off my everyday bra and hooked the new one. The straps sat where they were supposed to. The cups held. When I leaned forward I had cleavage I had not seen on myself in a long time. I put the thong on. It was smaller than what I wore to work under slacks. I turned sideways. Then I turned around and looked over my shoulder. The rhinestones threw little points of light at the mirror. I stood there longer than I needed to. I thought about Steve sitting on the hotel bed. I thought about the look he used to get when I came out in something he had never seen. Not the polite smile. The one where his mouth opened a little and he forgot whatever he was about to say. I wanted that look again. I wanted him to see the garters and have to put his hands in his pockets in a restaurant. I wanted him to know I had done this on purpose.
I was wet before I got the thigh-highs all the way up. Not soaked. Enough that I noticed when I sat down to clip the garters. I laughed at myself under my breath, flushed, and bought the set anyway. Three pieces from the line at the sale price, the stockings extra. I still needed more nights. I found a shiny red chemise, little dress, Shine Strap on the shoulder straps and a matching red thong. I held the chemise up and pictured him seeing red instead of black. Different. Bolder.
Then I found the teddy. Black. Thin. It snapped between the legs with two little fasteners that would come apart with one tug. The cups were barely there. The sides cut high. When I held it up to myself in the mirror it left almost nothing for him to imagine. I thought about walking out of the bathroom in it and watching him forget the remote. I thought about those snaps. I put it in the pile.
I looked at the cotton table. Five for twenty. Cute. Not what I wanted on him for this trip. Then the woman at the register said if I added one more item from the Very Sexy line I would essentially get the next 3 pairs of panties free. That changed it. Steve wears a large. I wear a medium. I had to dig. The larges were picked over after the sale. I stood at the drawer longer than I would have if I had been buying for myself. I kept holding pairs up and thinking about the front of them.
His daily panties were comfortable. That was the whole point now. Soft cotton bikinis. Enough fabric. They did their job and nobody looking at him in jeans would have known. These were not that. The Shine Strap ones were smaller. Shorter rise. Narrower front. The rhinestone waistband sat lower. I turned a black Brazilian in my hands and thought about the outline. I wanted to see him in something that was not just comfortable. I wanted the bulge. I wanted the sparkle catching when he moved. I wanted him to feel watched even with his slacks on.
I also worried. He is not big. I have always known that without ever putting a ruler on him. But when he is really hard he is hard all the way, and these were cut closer than anything he had worn in years. I pictured the head nudging the waistband. I pictured it slipping over if I was not careful tucking him in. The thought should have made me put them back. It did the opposite. I stood there with the pair in my hand and felt that same low pull I had felt in the fitting room.
I found four in his size. A red cheeky that matched my set. A black Brazilian that matched the other. A royal blue pair with the name in cursive instead of block letters. And a hot pink pair that made me smile in the middle of the store. It was louder than anything he had worn in years. I thought about that color under dark slacks and decided I wanted him to know I had picked it on purpose.
I had the woman wrap the four in a pink bag with tissue. I went home and hid everything. It still felt like I needed one more option that was not the mall. I drove to Trashy Lingerie on La Cienega, the pink building I had passed for years and never gone in. Two dollars at the door. I bought a black corset-style bustier with a front zipper and two pairs of panties to go with it, one of them crotchless. I had not owned crotchless anything in a long time. The idea made me laugh in the dressing room. I thought about Steve seeing the zipper and not knowing whether I was going to leave it half closed or let him pull it down.
Then I found a three-pack of panties hanging near the register. The header said it was a teasing-your-husband pack. The package was closed. I could only see the first pair through the front, a woman's hand with two fingers pinched together and the words "My husband is only this big". The other two were tucked behind it. I could not read them. I stood there with the pack in my hand and decided that was better. I would make the other two a surprise for both of us when the time was right.
Holding it brought back the old nights. The way I used to tease him that the dildo was much larger than he was. It was. I used to say it like a joke and watch his face. I realized, standing there under the harsh store lights, that I had still never measured him. Not once. I only knew. That was when I saw the wooden ruler. It was on a little display at the counter. Twelve inches of wood. Arrows. "Good" at seven inches. "Better" at eight inches. "Best" at nine inches. I set it on the pile with his new panties. I was ready.
I finished packing the morning we left. Steve had made it home early and was already packed up, standing in the kitchen with coffee like this was any other work trip. I finished my bag on the bed. Clothes on top. The sealed tubes underneath. The Lily in its pouch. The charger. The milky bottle in the clear quart bag with my toiletries so nobody could argue about the ounces. I tucked the pink tissue bag of his new panties down the side, folded the teddy so the snaps would not catch, put a sweater over the whole thing, and zipped it.
We drove to the airport. We parked. We got in TSA Pre-Check line for security. That was when it started. Not at home, where I could still unpack. I was watching other people's bins go forward. I thought about a plastic tray. I thought about gloves. I thought about someone pulling the Mustang out of the tube in front of a family with a stroller. I thought about the Spur next to it. I thought about the velvet pouch. I wondered if the person behind the X-ray could already see the shape, that obvious, ridiculous silhouette and whether they said anything to each other when a dildo went by. My face got hot in a crowded room.
I told myself it was legal. I told myself people flew with worse. I still almost turned around. The bag went on the belt. I watched it disappear. I did not look at the screen. I looked at Steve's shoes and tried to look like a woman who had packed shoes and a sweater. Nothing beeped. Nobody waved us over. Nobody opened anything. We walked through and I did not let my breath out until we were past the last uniform.
In the lounge I sat down with a water I did not need and watched him check his phone for the gate. "I packed you a surprise," I said, quiet enough that the couple two seats over would not hear. "A few, actually." He looked up. "Yeah?" "When we get there." I let my knee touch his. "Some of it is going to feel like years ago. The kind of thing that used to make your cock hard before we even left the house."
He glanced around, then back at me. That old look was already starting. I reached into my bag and pulled out the white thong that was tucked in the back of his drawer. Not all the way into the open. Enough. The ruffles were unmistakable. Almost sheer even folded.
"These first," I said. "Before we go to the gate." His ears went pink. He smiled anyway. That was the smile. "Go put them on. I want you uncomfortable for the flight. I want the foreplay started before we even leave the ground."
He took them, not totally discreet, and headed for the men's room. I texted him as soon as he was out of sight. "Picture. Now. Bikini in your pocket. Hand them to me when you come back." The photo came through a minute later. Perfect. Fully hard. The white fabric did exactly what I remembered, I could see the shape of him, every bit of it, and a little translucent spot at the tip where he was already wet. He was liking this. So was I.
He came back with his hand in his pocket. He slipped the bikini into my palm when he sat down, still flushed, still smiling, sitting a little more carefully than he had five minutes ago. I locked my phone and leaned in.
"That's just the start," I said. "Wait until you see what I packed for Denver. New panties. Not the comfortable ones. The kind that shine. And that's not even the part that's going to make you nervous." He swallowed. "You're trouble," he said. "Not yet," I said. "But I packed like I intend to be."
