Secret of the Witch

The time and place is Salem, Massachusetts, 1692. Fern Addams, the daughter of Eliza Addams, watches her mother be put on trial as a witch due to the allegations made by the daughters of the Reverend Samuel Parris. Eliza is found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging. An angry Fern vows revenge. Years later, Elizabeth Parris, the daughter who accused Fern's mother of witchcraft, falls in love with the same man that Fern loves, Matthew. Matthew is falling fast for Elizabeth and Fern acts quickly. First, she moves away from Salem and begins to live in a makeshift cottage in the forest. There she practices witchcraft and casts a spell upon a scarecrow to make him come to life. She names him Corey. Corey is handsome and sent back to Salem to begin to court and seduce Elizabeth to keep her away from Matthew. Corey has sex with Elizabeth. Later, they declare their love and get married. Corey believes he is a real man and not a scarecrow as part of the spell, which can only be broken if he ever looks into a glass mirror. Meanwhile, Fern extracts her revenge on the judges and magistrates who condemned her mother to death - William Stoughton, John Hathorne, and Peter Sergeant. She sends a black raven to attack and kill Peter. She then makes another of her scarecrows come to life and attack and kill John. Finally, she herself kills William by appearing in his nightmares (which makes come real in real time). Fern then casts a spell upon Matthew to make him fall in love with her and marry her. After they are married, for a time they are happy but she becomes emotional when she discovers that he is still pining for Elizabeth shoe miniature portrait he kept. Very upset, she summons Corey who has looked into a mirror and returned to his scarecrow form, which instantly shocks Elizabeth so much that she falls down dead. Corey returns to live with Fern who commands him to kill her husband Matthew. But Corey during his time as a human, has grown a heart and conscience and refuses to kill Matthew. Instead he seeks refuge in a church and tells the Reverend Mark that he is the victim of a curse by the witch Fern, who escaped justice after her mother was killed. Reverend Mark then orders Fern's arrest and she is hastily put on trial for witchcraft and sentenced to death by being burned at the stake. Fern dies. After she dies, Corey resumes his scarecrow form.
