All characters in this series are 18 or older. Both people and places are fictional or fictionalized, so do not expect places to appear as they may here. This is a series set in my "Pix 'n Bits" storyverse, and thus has elements of science fiction and urban fantasy in it. While there are destinations, like much of my writing this is more about the journey. I hope you enjoy it. Now go read and meet Candy, 'That Naked Girl".

TNG 01 Where Am I?
Time to introduce myself and explain a little about me. FYI, TNG stands for 'That Naked Girl'.
Dark. Light. Dark. Light and sounds now. Slowly I remember things and understand this must be a hospital. I hear a doctor explaining to a nurse not to say anything about me being naked. What? I feel around and yep, I sure am. I listen and hear the doc say I have been acting like I was dressing but I was staying all nakey and she is afraid that telling me I am naked may be harmful. And since no one is being hurt by it, why not just leave well enough alone and see what happens?
They keep talking and I drift off again. I wake up later? and hear the doc going over the instructions again. And I hear Mom asking her about them! Mom is here, so I will be OK. I remember now, coming around a curve on my bike and seeing the grill of a Freightliner coming at me. Damn logging truck! And I wonder if my bike made it as I listen and pretend to be asleep.
I hear mom finally agreeing with the doctor that acting as if I am clothed is the best way to deal with this going forward. That must have taken some thought, mom is pretty well socialized along normal US christian lines, so nude is for the bed or the bath, not the grocery store. Unless you are Veronica! Ha ha, she is our town's naked girl. Everyone knows her and likes her too. Hey, what's not to like? 5' 11" of naked girl and she works out daily, so she is very trim and fit. And cheerful! Yes, even the stodgy and terminally grumpy like Veronica. But I digress, which I do a lot of, fair warning!
I hear mom and the doc talking about me, and graduation and hey, I am naked! But do not say a word! I have to interject right here. I like being naked, have since I can remember. And I really like being seen by others. So far, that has consisted of engineered accidents. Towel drops and such. From what the doc has been saying, seems I have been "dressing" with no clothes since I came out of the coma. And she does not want anyone to tell me, because it may send my mind off it's rails! I start to say I am fine and then realize, if I keep my fat mouth shut I can be naked everywhere all the time!
What's behind Door number two? A naked life, it sounds like! Instead of looking lively I cough quietly and look around as if I just woke up, slightly confused but becoming aware.
Doc is right there to check on me and mom s right behind her too. I find she is Dr. Anne Spicer and she is my neurologist. I need one because I cracked my skull! A lot! Lucky for me nothing much leaked out, far as they can tell. But I will need regular checks for a while, to watch as things heal up. Then she says someone is here to see me and steps back.
Mom leans down to gently hug and kiss me. She is crying, but happy as she tells me she was afraid she had lost me. Then surprises me when she tells me the Team Oregon course I took taught me well, and those lessons saved my life when I avoided the truck. And by the way, if I was in a "nice old car" like dad wanted me to be, I would have had no chance at all. Flat car and flat Candy too. I asked her if my bike made it and she looked sad for me when she said it was completely wrecked.
Then told me she was now convinced I should have that shield tech from Boston Dynamics, because maybe I would not have cracked my skull if I had that instead of a helmet. Doc breaks in with some techno babble about inertia and so on. Mom is convinced, and that means I will no longer need a helmet and a heavy jacket when I ride. Or pants, with my new "condition"! Doc says I look tired now and mom promises to come back.
Next day the doc comes by and we chat. I was careful today to 'dress' myself and am acting as if I am fully clothed. I even lift my shirt for the stethoscope. Maybe I should be an actor! About an hour later mom shows up with flowers and a big smile. Hurries to tell me the HS has delayed the graduation a couple of days so I can attend, since the doc says I can go home on Friday, two days from now if nothing happens.
Dad and mom pull some weight with the HS, because our store provides sports equipment and uniforms. We do make money on that, but we go the extra mile to be sure everyone is happy too. So that news was not a big surprise. Being able to go home, that was a big deal. My face showed it too. Not a poker player at all. Mom asked if I need her to bring me anything and I said I seem to have plenty of clothes here somehow, but I would love a nice pair of shoes. Or my pretty gladiator sandals?
Mom's face did interesting things when I said I have plenty of clothes here, as I plucked at my blouse. Which I am not wearing. She watched me, seemed frozen for just a second and then recovered. Told me I looked real nice today, and she hoped I wore this outfit home. And promised to bring me good shoes. Nurse came by while mom was here and I asked if it was possible to make sure this outfit was washed to wear again on Friday, because mom likes it.
Nurse did not miss a beat, just said if I give it to her later, she will make sure of that for me. Mom and I chat for a long while, and I fall asleep. Wake up later and see dad! Once I wake enough to be sensible I sit up and chat. Then remember and ask him to call the nurse so I can change and give her this outfit to wash for Friday. Dad looks somewhat sad but goes to get her. When they return I am just pulling a new top over my head and smile brightly as I appear though the collar.
The invisible collar, since I am miming the entire business. Nurse takes my clothes to wash cheerfully. Bet it's the easiest load she has to deal with all week! Dad pulls a chair closer to the bed as I raise the head to sit up more. We chat and like mom he tells me he is now glad I was on a bike and not the little Toyota he wanted me to get. Because the state trooper who investigated, and gave the logging truck driver a stack of tickets told him I would be dead for sure if I was in a car.
Then he asked if I got one of those shield things would I want the belt or the arm bracers? I grinned and said I do like the Wonder Woman look and we laughed together. Me and dad both like comics and comic book movies. Mom, not so much so it is kind of "our" thing. He says I am too blonde to be Wonder Woman but maybe I am her cousin the valkyrie? I told him hair dye was cheaper than making the writers create a whole new character and we laughed again. He also told me he was sad for me that my bike was gone, but so happy I was here. I saw him cry a little too so I reached out to hug him and say I love him too, and a motorcycle can be replaced. And hey, I am still here!
And coming home day after tomorrow, lord willing and the creek don't rise. That cheers him and he says he would like to stay, but.. I say I know, the store is open and mom needs a break. He gives me a kiss on top of my head like he did when I was small and leaves. I nap again and then it's time for dinner. Mystery meat and equal veg. I never thought school cafeteria food would look good to me but there it is. But I know that whatever it looks like it is nutritionally balanced and will help me get well so I do my best to eat it. There is a piece of cake which is kind of tasty and when the nurse comes to get the tray I tell him so.
Don't you know he comes back with two more pieces other people did not eat and gives them to me! Even asks if I need more milk and gets me some. I see his name tag and tell Ben he must marry me now. He laughs and says it's a big surprise that I want a gay husband! I say dammit all the good ones are gay! He laughs and tells me a smart and pretty girl like me will find a good guy, the trick is to keep looking and not settle. I thank him and think about that. Seems like one of those maxims a person should just know but usually doesn't. Hmmm. Will fold that into my head now.
Thursday I wake and feel pretty good. Almost two weeks now and yes, still have bruising but the big pain is gone. Even in my head thankfully. I tell the nurse when she brings meds I do not need the pain med today and a few minutes later the doc comes in to visit. I drop my nightie for the stethoscope and then leave it loose. Ask if I can dress now and she says to go right ahead and keeps talking as I get shorts and a blouse from the cubby and put them on. Feeling mischievous I ask if she likes this color on me.
And before she can panic I say many people look ill wearing green but I like the way it brings my eyes out! She agrees and I think cool, I have someone who went to school for more than a decade to get her job admiring my invisible outfit! Ha ha! She asks several questions and says to let her know if I feel any kind of change, but she thinks I am ready to finish getting well at home. Yay! I say so, and also mention the food is better there too. Doc Anne grimaces and says she knows, but at least this food is healthy.
She heads out, reminding me to call her with questions or if I feel any changes even after tomorrow. I promise I will remember, unless I hit my head again, then say OW and laugh. Doc shakes a finger at me but is grinning right back. About an hour after lunch which came with jello! Do people actually eat that stuff?, Mom showed up. We had a pretty happy chat.
And she asked if I would mind if she bought me new gladiator sandals for the summer? I said I do like to shop but right now I was happy for anything she wants to do for me, because it seems I need my energy to heal up. Mom smiled and said that was fine, and that is what I need to do right now. And she does not mind doing things for me at all.
Nurse came by and put an imaginary pile of clothes in my cubby, telling me I was all set for tomorrow and I thanked her. I think mom winced a little but recovered so fast it was hard to be sure. Then she smiled and said it was so good I was coming home tomorrow in nice clean clothes! At times it was getting hard not to laugh, but I reminded myself this was my ticket to be naked full time. After an hour mom said she was going shopping now and will see me around noon.
I asked if we can get something to eat here in Portland for lunch before leaving town and she said of course we can and then looked slightly dismayed. Again recovered almost instantly. An hour later, more or less I heard talking in the hall for a minute or so and then Emma and David came in. Emma used to be my best friend, until David. Now they are attached at the hip. Or maybe the groin? Whatever. No, not jealous, happy for my friend but I do miss her too. Now I am not the main focus of her life, and I get that. This is how life changes and hopefully someday I will find that person too.
They have been warned and neither acts like I am nakey in front of them. But out of the corner of my eye I see David looking! Score! Em runs right up to give me a hug and kiss and tells me how happy everyone is to hear I am coming home, and not going to that other place. I grin and say she means the ocean, because I refuse to be buried. Nope, ashes in the sea, that will be me. Me and Em always speak clearly and frankly about real things. None of this "I lost my friend" business. Nope, Joey died, people. We never lost him, but he is still gone.
She grins and says she is glad I am still me too, after a good whack on the head. I laugh and say maybe it let some sunlight in! We laugh and David joins in. He looks uneasy and I bet he wants to use euphemisms like so many people. Em and I prefer to face reality. Well, maybe not Em as far as David is concerned. But if I am right she will find out one day. I hope I am wrong but I feel that he is a weak link. And will not be a good long term choice.
But I smile and ask how she likes my outfit? With me and Em this is an old game and she joins in with a smile while David looks confused. Oh well, Davy. Once we are done discussing my clothes (and I turn so she can appreciate the look from the back too) we talk about graduation and how it will be this Sunday. We chat for a long while and I must have started to doze. Em gave me another hug and said she will see me at home this weekend and at graduation too. From the hall I hear her telling David off for staring at my breasts and I grin as I go back to sleep.
Quiet night and I wake early, ready for breakfast. Usually my favorite meal here, eggs and bacon are hard to mess up. And it is good as usual, and the nurse even brings me an extra bottle of milk. Happiness! After breakfast I listen, so I am just starting to dress when the doc shows up. I smile and say I may as well wait to dress til she is done checking me over. Dr Anne smiles and says that is considerate of me, and gives me a good looking over. Sort of an exit physical I guessed. Satisfied she says I can dress now and I say it is a little chilly and put on my make believe clothing. She observes and I again think I should consider acting.
When I stop she asks about shoes and I tell her I don't want my smelly old boots, mom is bringing me a fresh new pair of sandals to wear home. Then ask if it is OK for me to be barefoot til then? Doc manages not to smile and tells me that is fine. Also reminds me to call with anything at all and tells me she enjoyed meeting me, if not the manner. I laughed and told her the feeling is mutual and she smiled.
Mom came a little early which was great in my mind! And she brought me a beautiful pair of gladiator sandals. Black and crimson with gold accents at the toe and heel. I asked if they were ... and she laughed.
'No, dear, they are a knock off, but a very good one. There is a new shop just across the river, and they have a lot of hot styles at very good prices. We got through the fun of checking out. The nurse wheeled me down to the doors so I can then walk to mom's car, of course. I have to keep reminding myself they all think I believe I have clothes on, and I am loving this as I walk out the doors and over to mom's Camry. I grin and tell mom this color must look great on me because everyone is looking today! Then I say maybe it is my super new sandals.
Mom breathes and says that must be it, they are very sharp and look great with my outfit. I tell her I think so too! Then I ask if we can go to Hollywood Hamburgers since it is such a nice day out. They have great burgers and lots of outside seating. She manages to smile and says why not, that sounds perfect. Takes about ten minutes and we are ordering. Guy at the window has an odd look and I am sure mom is doing some kind of awkward sign language behind, so I stay turned to the window as we order.
Once we sit I tell her I am sure it is the sandals now. She asks why and I say that man at the window barely looked at me but everyone out here is just staring, so it must be the sandals. And it makes me feel terrific, like a princess or a superhero. Mom smiles and says that is wonderful, and every girl should feel that way. As we finished up I took pity on mom. I was going to ask if we can go to Powell's, but decided to lower her stress and just go home. Which we do, head over to Clay and then west on 26. Home in less than 30 minutes.
Mom says if I am OK she will go to the store, but she can stay if I need her. I tell her I can call her if I have a problem and will probably just take a nap. Thank her for the wonderful shoes again and she tells me I deserve them. She leaves and I do nap. Then I call a few friends too. More things to do now that I am home, naked and not dead!
