Heather: Chapter 14
Part 1: The Crimson Talon
Sofia went home and told Julie she'd succeeded, but Steve had felt her up. They sat down to watch Netflix. Julie petted Sofia on the head. "Poor Baby." She then slid her pants off and planted her face in Sofia's crotch.
Sofia was enjoying the stress relief when her phone rang. "Damn that woman. How does she always know?" Of course, it wasn't so much Jordana's timing as Julie's constant hunger.
"Hey, I was just thinking about you," Sofia said while answering the phone. Julie didn't miss a lick as Sofia struggled to talk.
"We got Steve," she reported proudly.
The Diamond responded, "Your idiot father, brother and cousin got caught on camera killing Flavio. Fucking ESPN has them on film coming and going to Flavio's pit stop with timestamps."
This was a classic "I told you so" moment that Sofia dared not speak. The Order now knows the Falcone family is Crimson Talon. They will want to capture and torture them for information to lead to Jordana and her Emeralds. Sofia knew her fate. She also knew her family was a bunch of pussies and would talk. She had to protect herself and the Crimson Talon.
Sofia explained the situation to Julie, who said, "Now what? We run?"
Sofia smiled and said, "It is time for door number 2."
Part 2: The Table
Heather liked being Queen Bee. Everyone respected and admired her. But it only takes one "ah shit" to erase that. Heather was called into the office, and it was serious.
Leon explained to Heather that all the people that the Crimson Talon killed were at the poker game. Quite Man and Leon were left. They considered themselves targets. "What we need to know, Heather, is who did you tell about the people at the poker game?"
"No one," Heather replied. "The only person whose name I even remembered was Jennifer."
Leon frowned. "Think, anyone, anyone at all? Close friend, roommate?"
"Oh, wait. I told my friend Julie I was going out to Nevada to wait on some big shots. But I never said who they were. Honest, Heather said, not thinking it was an issue.
Quiet Man asked, "And where is this Julie now?"
Heather thought for a moment and smiled. "Right now she is probably face down in Sofia Falcone's lap."
You could have heard a pin drop as Quiet Man and Leon stared at each other. They decided to confide some Table information to Heather. "This is the Falcone family in Italy. They killed Flavio and most likely Glenn and Eva. I am guessing Sofia had a hand in the stateside killings. We are going to have to capture them so we can get information out of them and then kill them."
Heather smiled at the thought of killing Sofia. "I'm in."
Leon added, "And you might as well know your Psychology professor is missing. He was last seen at Arnie's, which we believe is a Falcone front business."
Heather said, "You do know he is Julie's dad. I thought I told you that."
It was all coming together. There was chatter about a Falcone reunion family dinner in Chicago. We will go there and capture them at gunpoint.
They decided it was best for Leon and Quiet Man to split up for safety. Leon would go elsewhere. TBD.
Part 3: The Dinner Table
Sofia contacted her doppelganger, Hazel Green and asked her to play her at her family dinner. She had other things to do, but needed to attend. Hazel agreed because now she got to be abusive, playing Sofia. She thought she could get even for being on the run.
As the family got together, The Table loaded up their black Audis, and 10 of them drove to the location. Heather was with them, but not leading the group. Her only wish was that Julie was not there.
Carmine, his son Marco, and nephew Johnny Viti were there, along with their wives. And Carla, Carmine's sister, was there as fodder for faux Sofia.
All of a sudden, the dining room doors were locked, except for the one with the gas canisters flying through it. Soon, the whole dinner party was knocked out. Two people in gas masks entered the room. They placed a bag on a table and pulled out stakes and a hammer. They were killing everyone with a stake through the heart. Sofia took off her family crescent ring and placed it on Hazel's finger. She loved that ring; maybe she could get it back from the morgue.
Julie and Sofia left as soon as everyone was staked. Julie asked, "Why did we just stake them again?"
Sofia answered, "I told you. The Order thinks we are all vampires; they would do this. This way they get blamed for the killings."
They exited and drove down the road in their pink Cadillac, singing to Wilson Phillips; a fleet of ominous black Audis passed them going the other way.
The Table arrived and broke in, wielding their automatic weapons. A shout was heard, "Everyone on the floor!"
They looked and saw the whole group on the floor. A little smoke remained, dissipating once they opened all the doors. Heather walked over to the body that looked like Sofia. She took a cell photo of her with a stake in her chest and her ring.
The Crimson Talon would not be pleased. The Table would not be pleased. Door number 2 won.
