We decide to go to graduation and not tell the town until after that I am now just nekkid!
I asked V to sleep over but she said her mom gets nervous in the house alone sometimes. Dad drove her home so she didn't have to walk, and we made plans to meet up at graduation. The store was closed for the day and we ate breakfast together. Mom made french toast and it was perfect. When we got to the school she took my cap and gown from the back and handed me the cap, then put the gown in the trunk with a grin. I was thinking "thanks mom, you make me happy" and I think she knew it. I saw V and waved and she ran right over, wearing a cap like me, also no gown present! Looked at dad with a grin and said "Like my gown, Mr Locksley?"
He laughed and said she can call him dad if she likes, or Rob, but Mr is just not necessary. Veronica gave him a hug and said "Thanks, dad!"
I think she surprised him and mom at the same time. But in a good way. Then we walked to the staging area and mom and dad went to sit in the bleachers. We wound up standing next to each other and I asked what her last name was. V said not Lavoie, even if that is what the school says. Because of her birth certificate.
"But I want nothing to do with that bastard so I am Veronica Sophiesdottir." Not quite vehemently but still fiercely. I had guessed but now I was certain she was no one to get on the wrong side of. And why would you? V is a kind, sweet girl, and so easy to get along with!
All I said was "At least it means we get to stand together to wait through this" and smiled. She smiled back and reached out for my hand. We stood through most of graduation that way. It felt nice and happy. Then she was called and I was next. The two naked girls! You could feel a motion to the stadium, as if everyone leaned forward at once. Then it was over. We had our papers and we could go! Walking across the stage like we had rehearsed it (and we didn't) we tossed our caps to the sky and kept going. The crowd loved it too. Met mom, dad and Sophie at the car. Mom had introduced herself and they watched us together. Nice. I told V they have to come with us now. Sophie said she had something at home to get and Mom told her we can stop on the way. So me, Sophie and V got in the back and mom and dad in the front. Stopped and Sophie came back with a wrapped package and a very large cake that looked wonderful. And she told V to keep her fingers out of the frosting! V mimed dipping in the cake and when her mom looked the other way mimed dipping somewhere else too! Had to laugh and Sophie gave us both a look, but smiled after so OK. At my house we all got out and I took the cake, which Sophie thanked me for. She also gave V another look! I set the cake on the table on the patio and we all looked. It was beautiful!
Mom said she had a store bought cake and it can stay in the pantry, because it would embarrass itself next to this work of art. Veronica smiled and said "See momma, I told you they are very nice people!"
Sophie smiled and said she should listen to her baby more often it seems and gave her a hug. Then she gave her the gift she was still holding and said "Through time this comes to you from me, as it came from my mother to me, and so it has through the ages, and will, til the end of all things. Give it to your own daughter some day, my love."
Now that sounded serious and portent filled! V opened it and in the wrappings was a necklace. It looked older than anything I have seen to this day and it had 7 jewels set in it. Oddly shaped too, until I remembered that cutting facets in gemstones was a fairly recent thing in the world, and this must predate that practice, as the gems were obviously uncut and merely polished. Something about it nagged at me too but it was months before I realized what. Dad looked and let out a low whistle. His hobby was studying gems, not that he had many but he knew a lot about them.
Sophie looked at him and smiled as Veronica clasped it round her long neck. It looked perfect on her breast, as if it had come home through a long journey to arrive where it belonged.
Dad cleared his throat and said "It appears that my gift will be anticlimactic now but can we all walk to the garage, please?"
As we walked he told us that his store was now the regional distributor for the BD shield belts and bracers. I said that was pretty cool.
At the garage he made a show of opening the door and inside we saw an absolutely gorgeous 2003 Triumph America in a lovely deep forest green. He smiled and said "Not portentous and thousands of years old but mom and I hope you like it, dear. Happy graduation and congratulations too." I was pretty much stunned and then I had to touch it. And sit on it too. Sophie said this was a wonderful gift, and V came up next to me to see it better. Or see me better? Ha! With my friend V you never know!
Dad said that unlike V's necklace, this was not worth more than our house (and yes, I thought he was joking at the time) and has no real history either. But he and mom thought I would like it. I smiled real big and said I didn't like it, I loved my mew baby! And asked if it was early enough to take her for a ride? Please? Mom looked at dad and then smiled and said to be back by 4:30 and no later! I looked at Veronica and asked if she wants to ride with me, then we both realized I had no extra gear. My bracers were fine, but I had nothing for my friend to use.
And dad saved the day! With a big smile he got a box from a shelf, opened it and took out a pair of bracers just like mine. He said "Distributor now, remember? And I thought you may need a spare for a guest with your new motorcycle!"
I took them and handed them to V. Then hugged dad while she was putting them on. And while I checked the bike over and got Veronica ready to ride dad explained to Sophie how these shields were so much better than a helmet and jacket, and that we now had better protection than if we were wearing heavy garments. V giggled and said that also everyone can see our butts and Sophie laughed. Mom joined her a moment later and I gave V a look and a grin which she returned.
And I finally started the bike up. Took an easy lope around town, getting used to her, then we rode off toward Banks, a wider road and a higher speed limit too. Was happy to find that seeing a logging truck on the road did not cause me to freeze, or have any other problems. Truly, I had always been cautious of them. Living in the NW, you see these behemoths constantly and the drivers get paid by the load, not the hour or the day. So the faster they go, the more they make. Everyone knows this will lead to accidents like mine and no one is doing a thing about it. Dammit!
But V rubs my neck with one hand and I calm down. Take a side road and wander through trees for a while and stop in a wide turn around. We get off to stretch and I thank V for helping me calm down. She asks if it was the log truck and I tell her it was thinking about all the log trucks and our legislature not doing a thing about them that really got me going. We talk and agree that while there are probably things we do not know, this is a real problem and should be addressed.
V changes the topic, great idea and asks how I like my new bike. And do I have a name for her yet? I smile and say yes, and she is definitely a her too. And her name is Artemis, which makes V applaud. I check the time and say we ought to head back. V agrees and says she hopes we can ride more this summer. I grin and say that sounds good to me too as we get back on. We get home just after 4 and mom is happy, as is Sophie. I think they were both worried, maybe for different reasons.
We help them prepare for company and mom asks if I would rather go to one of the "big" parties. I tell her that I have never had a lot of friends and these days Emma is busy, getting a knowing look. I reach out and tug V over and smile.
"Really, mom if no one shows up all of my best people are here right now!"
Sophie looks happy and V gives me a quick hug. And mom seems to relax. I had asked for a late afternoon deal because I know a lot of the kids are going to late night, or all night parties out by the lake. Not my kind of thing. Even if I had a boyfriend I would rather be here, with family and good friends. Guess I am a weirdo. But now I can be a naked weirdo! We putter a little and V asks if I meant that, what I said a few minutes ago. I smile and say I did and I do, and currently she is very much my best friend in the world. Plus we both like waving our asses around!
Veronica laughed and said she did not make friends easily, but she was glad we had connected because I felt like the sister she had always wished for. I said that was exactly it and hugged her again. Then I announced to both moms "No, not going all lesbo on you, but we have decided we are sisters, even if we do have different mothers!"
V hugged me again and squeezed my butt with the hand they can't see. Maybe my friend IS going a little lesbo! Ha! Hey, I still like the attention and we are not having sex here, so if it makes her happy why not? Mom and Sophie both said that made them happy, because we both need a friend. Then turned and looked at each other and laughed. Maybe they will be friends too? Hope so. We chatted and about 5 o'clock a few people showed up.
Two couples my folks were friendly with came first. I saw right away mom was liking Sophie better too and thought Yay to myself. Seems important and I really like Veronica a lot. And both moms are right, we both need a friend. Emma and David come by and I am surprised to see Charley with them. I used to hang with Charley and Emma, then Charley got "busy" for a few years. Never knew what upset her. David appeared to be feeling quite the dick and stood off to one side pouting.
That made Em give me a very quick hi and go stand with him. But Charley wanted a hug! Said it had been way too long, and she came with Emma hoping we can get the old gang back. I said probably not unless Davy leaves town, or maybe the planet. Surprising me she laughed and said leaving earth would be the best thing! I pulled V forward before she wound up being part of a wall and introduced them.
Charley smiled and said she had wanted to meet the bravest girl in town for a long time. V asked what she meant with a puzzled expression and Charley answered her.
"Don't be so modest, girl. I grew up here too and it may be legal to walk around nakey but you still get all the looks telling you what a bad girl you are." Then she put a hand to her mouth, looked at me and grimaced.
I smiled "Don't worry, Charley. I actually know I am nakey, and like it too! And now mom is OK with it too!"
V thanked her for the kind words and Charley said she needs to hear more, and hey, are we dating? Because V is very pretty! We talk and I tell her the whole story from me waking up to overhear the doc to a couple days ago and she laughed. Said that sounds like me, just keep trying til I win. I asked if that was how she sees me and she says it sure is, because I have been like that since she met me. And if I won't hate her, she has decided not to be friends with Em anymore, unless she gives up David. I ask why and she says because he is so wrong and so bad for her, and if we keep being OK with it, we are really helping Emma hurt herself.
While I was thinking V spoke up and said Charley was absolutely right about that, even if she does not know either of them well. But if he is bad for Emma and we keep acting like their relationship is OK, we are helping Emma hurt herself as Charley says. I just look at taciturn Veronica for a second, because this was a lot of words for her. She smiles and tells me mostly we agree a lot so she doesn't need to explain and I laugh and hug her. And tell Charley I agree, and no, V and I are not dating, and is she gay now?
Charley grins and says she was gay then too, just wasn't ready to let anyone know, but is feeling a lot better these days. And while she won't be hanging with Em anymore, she is hoping we can be friends again. And gives V a look with a grin and asks how she feels about short and plump? V smiles and says Charley is not plump at all, she is just right, and as long as she is nice to me, maybe things can work for them.
Charley pouts and says she has wanted to be nice to me for a long time, but will settle for being my friend. And now she has two gorgeous nekkid girls to stare at! I laugh and say of course she can be my friend, just like always and she is welcome to look too. Veronica gets a funny look and asks "You think I am gorgeous? As gorgeous as Candy? Really?"
Charley smiles, takes her hand and starts talking. I even agree and interject now and then, telling V if I was a guy or gay, those legs and that tight little ass would have me following her all day. Took a while but she smiled, took Charley's hand and said maybe they should go for a coffee or something. Yay! Hey, I was not planning to date V, and would love to see her with someone nice. And oops, Emma and David left while we were busy with each other, so sorry. And next we offered to walk Charley home, unless she wanted to sleep over?
V checked with Sophie and we wound up with a 3 gal sleepover for graduation. No skinny dipping, no pool or pond available! We might have if it was possible, ya never know. And with my new friend V and getting Charley back I was feeling pretty great about life just then.
