My name is Colleen Moss. As I write this I am nineteen years old and am attending Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington, having done the running start program at Kingston High School in Kingston, Washington. I will tell you more about my life and fun in Ellensburg after I tell you my backstory.
My parents got divorced when I was in the second grade. At the point this happened I was attending Pearson Elementary and my dad Coleman 'Cole' Moss was aboard the USS Carl Vinson and had been gone since early on when I was in the first grade. He flew an E-2 Hawkeye.
Shortly after he left, my mom explained to me that she was lonely and that Daddy's friends were helping her not be lonely and Daddy had specifically asked Bill and Jack, twin brothers to stay with her. Daddy's parents had left him the small farm we lived in, so we had to move out a year later.
Jack Boggs and my mom were married two weeks after the divorce was final, which was good, because my younger sister Mallory was born. To this day we are the best of friends and we love each other as I do my other siblings.
By the time I was a senior in high school mom had been married two more times and Mallory and I had another sister, Taylor (mom was a Swiftie) and a brother, Louis 'Lou' that I'm twelve years older than.
Mals, me, Tay-Tay and Lou were now living in Hansville, Washington, in Lou's Dad's house that mom got in the divorce as he was cheating on her. We were watching 'Ferris Buhler's Day Off' when mom and she walked in with an African American woman and introduced her to us, "Guys this is Shantel-Lu Jefferson."
She looked to be six foot tall and maybe she weighed two hundred and fifty pounds to Mom's five foot two inches in height and one hundred and ten pounds. She had her long arm around mom's waist, possessively and in very southern patois said, "I'm your new mama, we got married last Friday in Port Orchard. Stand up babies and give me some love."
My sibs hid behind me as I found my face buried in her chest as she lifted me up by my ass off the ground. I was about to suffocate when she set me down smiling at me.
Something about the look on my face troubled her as her smile left her face. Quietly I said, "If you so much as look at me or touch me or my family again I will kill you both. Slowly."
She chuckled for a second as I advanced two steps and kicked her as hard as I could just above her right knee. I had no martial arts training, but I was first team all-conference goalie for Kingston's girl soccer team. She looked shocked and in pain but still standing and I planted my left foot and struck the exact spot again she toppled to the floor. I had blown out her knee. 911 was called and I called Dad who was out of the Navy by then, retired from the Navy and remarried with two other of my siblings.
He said, "What's going on Collie?"
I sputtered, "She married a black woman, who tried to suffocate me with her boobies and I kicked her twice, 911 was called, help, I don't want to go to jail."
When Dad arrived Kitsap County Deputy Sheriffs had my hands zip tied and the bitch was saying my attack was unprovoked and of course Mom had thrown me under the bus agreeing with fatty.
One of the deputies put her hand on Dad's chest and he said, "That's my daughter and do not touch me. That tub of goo almost suffocated my daughter with her forty pounds of titties. Unless you're charging Collen I have shared custody with her and I'll sue the county from here to the Supreme Court. Know this, she has had hundreds of sexual partners during my daughter's life and during my short marriage."
The deputy said, "Show me your driver's license."
He did. She asked mom, "Is this your daughter's father?"
She nodded yes.
Mallory spoke up, "Don't leave us with her, she touches me!"
Everyone pivoted to look at Mals who was staring into my eyes and nodded once. I ran towards Mom when I was plucked off the ground by dad as I screamed at her, "You filthy fucking slut."
Mals and Taylor and Lou were hovering behind Dad. He said, "Let me bring them home, none of their dads live within a thousand miles of here and I do have their phone numbers and will call them now and let you talk to them."
It went down as he said and the lead deputy said, "Both of them are under arrest now pending charges being filed. My supervisor will call you in the morning. Are you at this address, on Indianola Road Northeast?"
"Yes."
Dad's new wife Elizabeth, not Lizzie, but always Elizabeth, well we did not like each other. She was attractive, but not as Mom was, nor me. During the course of the weekend she warmed to everyone but me. Dad had called all of my siblings' fathers who had no problem with Dad going through an adoption process.
Elizabeth and Dad got into a pitched battle about her not wanting a slut in her home. I was a virgin and had not accepted dates from boys, girls and a few teachers. I realized she was talking about me and walked to their bedroom and opened the door and she was furious at my intrusion, "Get the fuck out of here, tramp."
I did not and quietly said, "Nobody hates my mother more than I. I have seen hundreds of men that she brought home and now a three hundred pound lesbian who tried to kill me. Elizabeth I've never been on a date, because the thought of sex disgusts me. I have talked to the priest at St. Olaf's about converting to Catholicism and becoming a nun. Please take me to your doctor who will verify my virginity."
I pulled out the very old cross that had belonged to my great-great-great Grandmother Rose, on Dad's side. She towered over me at five foot nine to my five foot two. She weighed one hundred and fifty pounds and loved Dad fiercely along with their children, she was voluptuous.
I had been described as pixie until someone looked at my face. People said that my face looked like Keira Knightly the British actress, but with red hair.
She turned to me and said, "Well I'm Catholic and your Dad converted and Annie and Jimmy are Catholic, so you and I should talk about you converting, your dad and I will sponsor you for sure."
The adoptions took a year. Mom denied what Mals had said and the Kitsap County prosecutors could not make a case, but CPS believed Mals and would not let her stay with mom as Shantel-Lu Jefferson was not only a professional wrestler, but had a string of arrests for prostitution and was a snitch of sorts.
The combination of all that is that Mals and all of my sibs were living on Dad's farm, I did convert. I transferred to North Kitsap High school and went on my first date with a senior baseball player Davis who was the starting short stop. He was so handsome I let him kiss me and oh my goodness and he went to Central Washington to play baseball and I followed him there. I had done the fast start program and had credits through my sophomore year and was technically ahead of him.
It's a good thing, when I got there he pretended not to know me because he had a 'tit-bag' cheerleader for a girlfriend and she was wearing a diamond ring. I was in a two room dormitory, just after school restarted.
I ran track at North as well as soccer, one hundred meters and two hundred meters was the number two on our team all three years. I did win the two hundred meters at regionals my senior year and came in fourth at states. Dad wanted me to go the University of Washington, but they did not accept the fast start credits.
So with a letter of recommendation from my coach I went to the Athletic Director's office on campus and asked I could join the team. She said, "I saw you at regionals and state both. I can make you better, but you'll have to work like you've never worked before, do you agree to that?"
Mom had told me that if I was to make it through life, I had to never quit no matter what, someday my kids might depend on me. So I said yes to those conditions and it was a descent into physical hell.
The athletic department strength coach had me pulling weighted sleds, then I ran intervals, hill sprints, ten and twenty meter bursts. She gave me this handout about lifting weights that said and I quote, 'Movements like power cleans, snatches, and push presses to train the rate of force development' and I said, "I've only used small weights, two and a half pound weights, through running motions."
She smiled and said, "I will show you." She did not show me, but a fifth year student a former football player who was six foot six and somewhere between two hundred and forty pounds and some higher number terrorized me, denigrated me, called me a coward and he stunk to the point I stuffed paper tissues in my nose to keep from throwing up.
The fuck actually laughed at me complimenting me on my new look which lit me on fire and I pounced, "Take a fucking shower once a week you smell like pig shit mixed up with goose poop for fucks' sake."
I experienced the exhilaration of flight as he threw me some twenty feet landing on my ass and elbows and my rage manifested as I sprinted back at him launching at him feet first towards his crotch, and he plucked me in the air and said, "Settle down before I call the campus police."
"You threw me thirty feet."
"I like your tee shirt and you went ape shit."
I looked at him and said, "Please shower before we work out," he was kind of cute.
By Christmas Break I'd met his parents, then when I returned from Christmas break, he'd been signed to the practice squad of the Atlanta Falcons and that was that. I had cashed in my V-card (I love Emma Stone and have watched Easy A a lot) and he texted me a lot and that stopped.
I did not participate in meets until the Central Washington University's Invitational; I was consistently fifth amongst our team's runners in three events, one hundred meter, two hundred meter and four hundred meters. That said I had won during practice at the two hundred meters and four hundred meters.
It's way different in competition than in school races, bitches in their heads, others bumped me and one girl called me 'Stumpy'. I came in third with a time of twelve point two eight seconds behind Zoe Gonzalez and E'lexi Hollis all of us from Central. Hearing my name called was such a rush. Our trainers gave us bottles of Pedialytes to rehydrate and I stretched in the infield of the track. Academically I was a junior, but athletically was a freshman and I was not so much shunned as ignored. Coach Hill had been introduced. He was nice enough, but had never talked to me. Nonetheless he was there talking as I stretched.
"I'm sorry. What did you say?"
He smiled and said, "That was remarkable, where did that come from?"
"Well I've gained nine pounds of muscles and our strength coach has been great and competition in these kinds of races helps me."
"Well good job."
In the two hundred meter event I got blocked and finished sixth. There were race officials all along the course and I know they saw them box me in and did nothing.
I hydrated as it was eighty six degrees and probably reach ninety when my last event would begin. I talked myself down from getting blocked and chewed some chocolate and did some centering exercises.
I was in the middle of ten women when I had the greatest start of any race I'd run to that point. At ten meters I was ten feet in front of the next runner and nobody got close and I won with a time of fifty five point four three seconds.
"That was Colleen Moss of Central Washington in her first win of the year in the fasted time this year in Division two schools."
I got some more Pedialytes and changed my shoes and put some runners on and slung my bag over my shoulder and jogged out of the stadium and ended up at my dorm and took a shower. I took a shower, then made myself some ramen and ate that and watched a 'League Of Their Own' on my laptop in my bed and fell asleep. I woke up at seven thirty and was hungry again. I had a red 2012 Nissan Pathfinder that had a large V-8 that Dad bought out of an estate sale and drove to the Campus U-totem drive in and got two grill cheese sandwiches and some fries and a blackberry shake. I drove back to my dorm and went to my room and watched a Netflix spy movie called the Rookie starring this gorgeous man Noah Centineo.
My phone started going off and it was Dad and he asked, "Can you get ESPN, you're on it! They called you the 'Mighty Mite'!"
"I don't have cable access could you record and send it to me?"
"Okay, how did you celebrate?"
"I just two grilled cheese sandwiches and a blackberry shake at the Campus U-tote-Em."
"Do you have any friends on the team?"
I did not answer him directly," I only because a junior girl got hurt, we'll see. I had a boyfriend for a couple of months but he signed a contract with the Atlanta Falcons, he's a tight end. He grew up in Seattle and went to O'Dea High school, but I have not heard from him in a couple of months."
He said, "So no friends on the team?"
I responded, "In my group everyone likes me and talks to me, so I do."
"Okay Collie, mom says hi."
"Put me on speaker please!"
"Hi mom, I am having a grilled cheese, fries and blackberry shake from U-Tote-Em!
"Have you tried the peach one, Collie?"
"No but I will tomorrow. I miss you very much."
She responded, "You'll be home for summer in six weeks."
"I can't wait."
