More Bear's Favorites- #5
We've got to stop meeting like this. I found some more I liked, and it's been a while since the last list. Thank you for checking them out. I don't think I'm a Literary critic or anything. I just feel like spreading the wealth. If you don't like them- Ehh, too bad, your loss.
Please, enjoy. Make the checks payable to Conroe, Texas.
"My Wife Had a Baby' by ephesus14. In "Loving Wives"11/14/2023 this is a good one, I think. Military spouse, wife screws up, but not what you think. Convoluted, and takes a while, but well written, heartwarming, and a bit of reconciliation. Not my usual cup of tea (or cup of anything) but still a good story.
"My Wife Goes On a Date", again by ephesus14. 11/07/2023 In "Loving Wives". One of my all-time faves, I just never wanted so share it.( Stingy, I know) A great BTB story, but took some heat from some people thinking there was no ending. It was abrupt, but still, I got it. Good story, and some humor. Some collateral payback for his accomplice. I liked it, so I think you may too.
"The White Man and The Pawnee"by ronde in "Interracial Loves" 08/01/2026 this is truly a great story. Hits all my boxes, and might even be in contention for #3 on my All Time Best List. I really liked this on, as my comment rambled on about it. Well written, good plot, tear jerking in parts, and sweet in others. Makes me proud to be an American.(TOUGH! Deal with it!) the Bear is an old softee, and this one made me feel good. I think you'll like it too. I don't know how I found it, in this category, because I have never read there before. But Son-of-a B.... I 'm glad I did.
Okay, a slight deviation from my normal style. I call attention to Mr. FreddieTheCamel. I stumbled (almost literally) across the man's works, and started reading. Three of his stories leapt out at me, and I had to research them to put them together.
"February Sucks In Britain" by FreddieTheCamel, in 'Loving Wives' 02/13/2022 This was the first, a tribute to George Anderson's Classic (Yep, you guessed it,"February Sucks"). A very good story, not the typical one, but with an interesting twist. 'So what?', you ask. It's not the story, but the two main characters. They are gold. And the author goes on to develop them more, in-
"To Love, Honour... and Obey" by FreddieTheCamel in 'Loving Wives" 03/11/ 2022. The layout in this one is priceless. The development, while dragged out a bit, is first class. True humans, honest, with all the warts and callouses (and then some) that real people have. It is fantastic, and sets us up for-
"When Becky Met Bryan" by FreddieTheCamel, in 'Loving Wives', 07/03/2022. by progression, it is the third. But it is actually a prequel as to how they got where they got to. I know, it even threw me too, but well worth it. These two are priceless people, great characters, lovable, and slightly unbelievable. But so good to read. Not perfect; real. And in love. And the sex? Enough, in all three stories, to keep me interested.
I heartily recommend them.
"Teacher's Crossroad" by Burnt Redstone, in 'Loving Wives' 07/23/2020
Read this one. I liked it, but don't ask me why.
"Waddawannadothen?" by Jim Bob44 in "Loving Wives" 11/04/2026 As I said in my comment, 'Sweet, Cute, and only 750 words. I'm not usually on board with the short shift stories, although many are quite good. Just too short. As is this one. But quality?? COMME ON!! As I say, if my blessed wive was stil here, she would make me start a favorites list for her and this would be her first pick. Just read it, I think you'll enjoy it.
Now, an aside, comment, critique, you name it, I call it a 'bitch'. They changed the 'Classics' heading, so I 'm not sure how to direct you to these stories. Just chase the authors, I guess. These are well worth the time to find and read. Just my humble opinion. If you do find and read them, based on my recommendations, I will still get the massive payoffs from the authors. (both Pennys, and we know they aren't minting them any more.) Yes, sarcasm. Sorry.
Be good, love each other, and your country. God Bless, from Conroe, Texas, God's Favorite Third World Country.
