Mandy looked pale, she'd lost a lot of weight and was leaning on a walking stick to get up the stairs. Her beautiful blonde hair was cut in a short, pixie style. I knew they'd shaved her head to treat her wounds after the accident....

I lay in bed next to Serena, wondering how long I had to wait to touch her. We'd had a huge fight on the way to the beach, and had been studiously avoiding each other since. I didn't examine my motivations in the relationship too closely. When I shone a light on them, I was inevitably kind of disgusted with myself....
