I've received feedback from several readers -- and my editor -- that a character summary would be helpful for reference. With so many new characters, titles, and family ties introduced, it can be a lot to keep track of.

Though I don't remember it, I was born on a Tuesday. It's probably just as well I've forgotten since undoubtedly it was painful and upsetting.
For that matter, my childhood is mostly an odd half-recollection, memories OF memories, flashes and bits of things. Like most people I think, the original memories might be there but are vague and have merged with what I've been...

I got sacked. The public healing center doesn't receive enough funds, so they had to let go of the expendables, as known as me. Ouch.
I mean, I think I'm a way better healer than Podrick. That guy took a week with a broken wrist! But his father is loaded and donating to the center so whatever...
Now I have to start working in private, as much as I dislike it. I hand several papers around town offering my services....

The black sedan slowed to a stop among the police cruisers. A pair of agents got out. To the cop they all looked alike. They were both small, compact women in neat business suits. One wore a skirt. The other, tailored slacks.
"Where are your men?" asked the one in the skirt. "Don't tell me they've gone inside."...

I will admit the tiniest bit of hesitation before I knocked upon the door. When I turned off the main street into the alcove that hid it, I realized that I had not seen it in over a decade and no clear memory of what it looked like. My own home, and I had forgotten it. I had only just purchased it when the Mythseekers received our summons to fight for Axichis. I had thought that war would be a tiny diversion. I was a fool....
