This takes place after Simone's Week.
PHL Terminal A. 11:17 a. m.
Arden's boots hit the floor like the airport owed her money.
She walked like a problem looking for a narrative--aviators on, bag slung low, no plan, no real idea where her charger was, and still reeking of whatever cologne Simone had worn when she said "And I don't leave people waiting anymore." at Whole Foods....
Kate's phone chimed with a video call from Petey. "Hey fun size!, or should I say daddy!"
"Hiya, pretty mommy, can I come over to see Anna before I go to work?"
"Okay Petey, c'mon!", Kate laughed and shook her head.
"Hi Jenna!"
"Hey daddy fun size!", Jenna said from across the room. She was editing a manuscript on her laptop....
Dear reader,
This is the last part, the final chapter of Between Needles and Need. Without a doubt, it was the hardest to write because I kept it close to myself and because I hope that somewhere out there, women--and men--will feel seen in these words and will feel heard.
While I was finishing this last part, the first chapter had already been published, and the responses I received were overwhelming in the best possible way: kind, heartfelt, and honest. What means the most to me is the recognition, ...
So, for context: I climb. A lot. Which means I have zero flexibility. Like, I can hang off a cliff by my fingertips, but I can barely touch my toes. My climbing partner has been telling me for months to try yoga to balance things out. So today, like an idiot, I skipped the beginner class and signed up for an advanced hot yoga session. I figured, how hard can it be?...
read in fullAuthor's Note:
This is part four of five. You should read the first three parts first.
Thanks so much to everybody who has commented and reached out with feedback. It really means a lot! As I continue growing as an author, it's very helpful to know what works and doesn't work in my writing, from as many perspectives as possible....
See the recommended reading order at my author page. This story overlaps Part 2 of Wedding Dances along with They Were Roommates and Tour Guide.

The Right Chord
Kate had traded her Saturday evening shift at The Axe's Head with Jeremy, one of the local bartenders, for a promise of covering for him for a full day when he next spent a week at Kate's home base on the coast. Tonight's rock concert was that big a deal for her....
Chapter 19
As I was awakened by the rays of sunshine creeping through my curtains, I couldn't help but feel rejuvenated as memories from the last night crept into my mind. Immediately, the smile on my face and the warmth in my heart returned as I caught a glimpse of the woman sleeping right next to me. It was yet another reminder that everything in my life had been fixed, and I was now with the woman I truly loved again....
"Oh my god, what a day." Anita said as she slid into the booth across from Lissette.
"What happened?" Lissette with with concern as she sipped her martini.
"Well, I went in super early for a procedure and found our two overnight cardiac nurses in the locker room going at it.
"Ummmm, how is that a bad day?" Lissette said with a smirk....
Morning light filters softly through the curtains, casting gentle patterns across the tangled sheets where Isobel and I lie wrapped around each other. The mirror above the bed reflects the peaceful scene: two souls still entwined in the quiet aftermath of a night spent surrendering to each other over and over....
read in fullthis is the beginning of the slowest of all slow burns, that THBGato requested I write. it might take a hundred or more years to complete, but luckily the main character (me) is a witch so that's only a problem for the unlucky mortals who want to read this
- - sorry 'bout that
many thanks to KN2005 for beta reading and editing...
This story continues Chloe's timeline from "Riding With Dirty Girls," "Chloe Rides Again," and "Chloe's Return." You can probably get something out of the sex scenes in isolation, but for background, you ideally need to have read the other series' first.
This is a work of fiction. A figment of the author's imagination. It is not meant to be big on realism. It's a fantasy. The culture around world-class women's cycling probably isn't a hotbed of lesbian lust, but wouldn't it be fun if it were?...
RYANS THERAPY
I'm watching her from across the room. The music is so loud but I can't hear it. My blood is boiling. I watch my ex girlfriend of 1 day. We've literally been broken up less than a day actually. She has her hands all over this girl but in a familiar way. A way that tells me I wasn't wrong to end it with her, I had a feeling she wasn't being faithful but I didn't want to believe it. But when I saw how she grasped the sides of her face and kiss this seemingly random girl. It was the same way s...
[For those who came in late:
In Part One ("A Modern Fantasy"), Marcilla was picked up by a mysterious entity in the guise of a middle aged man, who told her to turn an English girl called Enid. In the process of turning her, Marcilla fell in love with Enid.
In Part Two ("The Beginning"), Marcilla told Enid of how she was herself turned, as an eighteen year old in Styria in 1698....
Dearest, most beloved reader,
Please believe me when I tell you that I mean this with love: fuck off.
Seriously, off you fuck. This is not for you. You don't want to read this. You'll hate it. Seriously, I hate it. The beta-readers hated it (thank you two - I won't name you to avoid tarring you with this brush, but I appreciate it massively)....
I've always found a Kathy bit weird. Slightly nerdy, slightly needy. She laughed in a weird awkward way - self conscious, abortive. It felt like she was always bottling things up, as if 1000 emotions boiled beneath the surface.
We were both unpopular, so found ourselves grouped together a lot. After collage we often hung out, and today it was raining so we sat together in her bedroom watching Howel's Moving Castle. She lent on me, head on my shoulder, her hair brushing against my cheek - it smelt faintly...
Choy
The restaurant was hushed, dim and romantic. The celebration had started earlier at an expensive dance club venue with everyone from both teams congratulating each other, dancing, and wondering who they would spend the rest of the night with. Ella Choy had sipped champaign and nibbled at the delicious food. The teams had met the deadline and made the deal. Months of work and a week of final negotiation were successful. Hours later the alcohol from the party was gone from her system. As she sipped he...
The alarm goes off early in the morning, I open my eyes, the sun has not risen yet, and the room is still dimly lit only by the muted TV and the salt lamp on your bedside table. The room is cool, so I move my body closer to you as I nuzzle into your neck, taking a deep breath and enjoying the scent of your skin. You look down at me, gently grab my chin, and pull me into a deep kiss. Your arms wrap around me and pull me on top of you, I straddle your hips, the blanket falling down around my waist, our bodies...
read in fullFriday night was family dinner for the Patel family. It's when everyone comes together to celebrate the week's wins. This Friday night is also Sumaya birthday: Amaya's sister-in-law. The names are confusing, indeed. The mansion pulsed with excitement for their princess' thirtieth birthday. Neon strobe lighting ran across each window pane, all the colours Sumaya adored. Red and pink, it did mimic the Red Light District a little too much. Alas, whatever Sumaya desired, Sumaya acquired. It was a perk being the...
read in fullA few weeks ago, the woman I had been seeing decided she wasn't ready for another relationship and "ended" things, not that we were more than just friends, but I was hoping that it would grow into something more. So here I am, single again. I think I am done dating for a while, let's try my hand at a friends-with-benefits situation, because seriously, a girl has needs, but I do not need any more drama in my life. I am getting out of a really messy marriage, my ex-wife is a narcissistic abusive bitch who is ...
read in fullStef woke in the morning, the summer heat sticking her body to the sheets, the fan whirring lightly in the background, stirring the humid air. Sunlight crept in around the curtains and created a soft glow in the bedroom. Chris stirred beside her, reaching over to silence the phone alarm buzzing away....
read in fullYou pull into the driveway and put your truck in park. It's been a long week, and you smile when you see my Tahoe in its spot in front of your house. You weren't expecting me for a few more hours. Slowly, you climb the steps of your front porch and open the front door. You are expecting me to be in the living room, but the room is empty except for Roan, who is happy to see you. The house is warm and smells of food. You put your keys and bag away and saunter into the kitchen, where you hear water running. My...
read in fullMira was casually scrolling through her phone after lunch when Rahul's text popped up on the screen.
Rahul: Shall we take the girls out for dinner tonight?
Mira read the message and looked towards Tanya's room. Tanya and her friend Anaya had spent most of the Saturday morning cooped up in the room. Tanya had come out briefly to collect the pizza they ordered, but other than that, that door had stayed closed. And after the sounds Mira and Rahul overheard last night, she could guess what must be happeni...
Everyone's over 18.
It takes place about 5 days before "Simone's Week." So there.
The living room smelled like old carpet and menthol.
Basketball game on low. Ceiling fan ticking like it was counting down something no one wanted to hear.
Arvin LeGrande Jones didn't look at her when he spoke. He never did, not when it mattered....
The day that would see my life begin to change was, in most ways, no different than previous days. I got out of bed early and had breakfast with my husband. We shared a goodbye kiss then it was off to work, he for the electric company as a tech on the road and I for the office. He could go to work in jeans and I in a skirt suit....
read in fullIt was unreal, I thought, to be waking up next to a naked Charlotte with her breasts pressed against my arm. Her hair was a tumbled mess, spilling all over the pillow and covering her face. I parted them now and tucked the strands behind her ears.
The sun was just beginning to come up in the window behind Charlotte and casted a soft light around her figure. She was breathing quietly, her lips slightly parted, and the worry lines that usually marked her face were smoothed out....
"Ouch, that stings." Rachel said as the doctor applied some ointment on the stitches he just put into her arm.
"I'm sorry." He said. "I just want to make sure this doesn't get infected and you have to come back." He told Rachel as he cleaned off her arm. After a bit more cleaning up he sat up from the stool. "The nurse will be in to let you know how to keep that clean, but for now you should be all good." He said....
It was my first time in Berlin.
I'd been sent there by the company to shadow the Berlin office for a week--something about investigating discrepancies across teams. Data wasn't aligning. Timelines didn't match. Someone in upper management wanted "eyes on the ground," which apparently meant me. I was excited at the prospect....
I'm sure there were many moments in my early life that shaped me into the woman I'm still discovering. But back then, most of them didn't feel like moments at all. Just passing things. Small shifts I didn't know were happening.
I grew up with three older brothers--two married now, one engaged. My parents were loving, supportive, maybe a bit overprotective. I was their only daughter, after all....

I want to thank everyone who has read this series and/or taken the time to leave a comment or send an email. I appreciate the words of encouragement and the feedback on the details. Truly, you have no idea how much that means to me (especially on a bad day).
For those who have said you check for updates often, please check my profile. I will update it with an ETA of the next chapter, so you don't have to check all the time. ???? Life right now is unpredictable and although I try for a ...
