"Why did she die?"
"We don't know yet, but there will be a full autopsy."
"Is that necessary?"
"It's required in a death like this, but you should want this."
"Why?"

Chapter Four:

2018-Sarah

When I walked through the door of Chesty's at nine that night I was pissed off, had a hell of headache, was dead tired, and I needed a drink. It was all because of Alonzo Merini.
Alonzo Merini had been arrested and charged with theft after he'd asked to see an engagement ring in a pawnshop. After he...

The three other guys at the table turned around and followed his gaze. "Okay, so she's hot, well, really hot, ...

Be at the sports hall tonight. 8pm. Do NOT be late, French.
It was 8:03 when I finally parked at the college sports hall and checked my phone. Striker's last message glared at me disapprovingly, while my latest message to him remained unread.
Sorry, running late. I'm having a day.
Grabbing my gym ba...

When I got to the office I felt like I was on top of the world. It was a Friday, beautiful day out, I slept great, and for the first time in years, I came into the office early.
I plopped down at my desk, coffee in hand ready to take on the day. Ok to be honest, like I said, it was a Friday, so I kn...

In our room, waiting for Bryan to get out of the shower, I spared a brief thought for Shaun and Emma. Honestly, with the way she kept needling him, I was a little worried that we would be ending the trip with a double funeral.
When my boyfriend came back from his shower in a towel, dripping and shir...

Once the rain had stopped, we got back into our "prehistoric" clothes and stepped out into the now-soaked campsite. The river had swollen its banks, its rushing and gurgling much louder. The post-storm afternoon sun peered through the ...

Author's Note: This story is based on fiction, and all characters are 18 years of age or older. The setting for this story takes place in 2006 when MTV was in its prime as the source for musical information. Kind reminder that this is a novel length fantasy with a semi-slow burn. Thank you to everyone for the wonderful feedback to Dan and Violet's continuing story, and my apologies for the delay. As promised, here's the end of the story (at least, all that I'm likely to tell). It's not as long as the earlier parts, but Dan and Violet had some more stuff they needed to do, an...

There's almost no sex in this story.
It was a Wednesday evening, so I was sitting in Dino's, my favorite Italian restaurant. It was the sauce I came back for. I forget how to say it in Italian, but it was spelled 'arrabbiato' which meant 'angry sauce' and the owner let me have on any of the dishes h...

Early Monday morning, following a tumultuous week on many levels. I woke at 7:00, still a little tired after getting home from Alison's house a little after midnight. She had fallen fast asleep, and I crept out of bed, kissed her softly and departed. I laid my head flat on the pillow and visualised ...
